Sheep hunt success in Northwest Arizona!
wing master replied to Capt. Don Martin's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Tell me the Chris Denham contribution is a mistake. That would be a huge hypocritical position. I was recently introduced to him and left with a positive impression of him. -
I have done the insanity program about 6 times in the last 3 years. Just like everyone's beloved cross fit this workout is no joke. I prefer this workout because it is a one time investment that can be done at home with ZERO weights. It makes it very time friendly and economical while still getting a great workout. If you want to look like the hulk this is not your workout. You don't bulk all that much. It is very high cardio and causes you to shed unwanted pounds and become fit. I have used it to become hunting fit and have never had a problem. If during my hunting I plan on doing longer pack in trip, I will hike with my pack a month or two before the hunt. This allows my legs to adjust to the added weight a little better but it is not necessary.

I have a unit 8 goat from 2013. I will post a pic after work. -
I have been to Roosevelt but never fished it. I was wondering how the water conditions are and what bites are heating up if any?

Thanks for the information. Wow TJ that looks like a great day! I would be happy with a couple of those!

CWpredator you can buy a point this summer. The point only purchase doesn't take place with the drawing application. Points in Wyoming are pricey but you don't purchase a license. If I remember correctly the elk point is 50.

My bull is also in Peoria right now. He came highly recommended. Should be getting him back in the next two weeks. -
Always buy the points. I'm saving for some good tags and will just hunt leftovers till I draw. I have leftover tags in WY for limited draw bull, general deer, and 2 doe tags. There are always leftovers for something. The bull tag was a lucky snag this year.

Way to go! I'm pumped for you. Can't wait to hear the story -
Look on blackovis.com. Currently have a promotion for a tent and sleeping bag. I picked them up for $270! Three choices for the bag I got the -10. They are badlands brand with a lifetime warranty.

Last week was week one of month two for insanity. Started week two today.

Firstcoues you know that isn't always true! Haha he could get lucky.

I agree Wyoming is a great place.

Havasu I watched those deer for four years. Some of them got to be decent size. I agree there are big deer south of Jackson. That is general regions G & H. Both have big deer in them. Only takes 1 or 2 points to get either of those tags. With 7 points I would hold out for a limited draw hunt such as the 109 I spoke of earlier or something near Duboise.
-
I was fortunate enough to pick up 4 leftover tags in WY this year. 53-2 late rifle any elk, region F general deer and 2 doe tags. It has been a wet year for WY so it should be a good hunt. Leaving oct 30! Can't wait!

Bob......I lived in Cody for four years. The area around it has great hunting. I don't have many points yet as a non res now but I am building them for area 54 elk and area 109 deer. Three biggest deer I have ever seen on the hoof were in 109. Possible spots to think about. 54 rifle took 8 points this year and 109 rifle took 9 points I believe. Might be some point creep but you are close for both of those.

Cody is a great place. I want to find a way to move back someday even if it is after retirement. I think it is a good place for children. Small town and lots of outdoors. It is western at its best. For four months of the year in the summer is has a rodeo every night of the week. Hunting in Cody is paradise. Within reasonable driving (an hour or so) you have small game, predators, waterfowl, mountain lion, wolves, deer (mule and whitetail), elk, antelope, bear (black and grizz), moose, sheep, mountain goat, and buffalo. Also the fishing is great. Buffalo Bill Reservoir is a 15 to 20 min drive out of Cody and has rainbows, cutthroat, and Lake trout as its heavy hitters but also has others such as walleye.

Non-Typical good job keep going! With or with out a diet change you will see results even if it is not untill opening day on the hike. It will be easier. Your doing great. I had to take a week off due to a family members illness. Started the second month today. It nearly killed me.
-
Speedy I will be there Oct 31 through Nov 10 for the 35-2 limited late bull, and region F general deer. Also have two doe tags.

I lived in Cody for four years. You are going to love it. I miss it everyday. Enjoy having elk, deer, and antelope tags every year! Congrats on the new career!

To be completely honest if you start this out of shape(I have more than once), you will be so sore for the first week or two that you will feel like you have been run through a meat grinder.

The program is a total of 9 weeks. Four weeks for the first half, a week of a recovery workout, and four more weeks for the second half. They change the workouts for the second half and are much tougher. I have started and completed it 6 times. I tried doing it twice in a row and couldn't finish it the second time. Was to much for the body. I always need to change to something else or give my body a week or two after I finish before starting again.

It could be they are not leaving sign. Once I put a camera on a GF drinker and didn't see any sign. The camera was pretty exposed so I took it down three days later for fear of theft. Still not a single track but I had one doe, javelina, and coyote.
