Good to know it worked well. I am trying to discourage a friend from even thinking about FMJ or the green tipped/steel core stuff (probably illegal) but availability is pretty tough.

what caliber and projectile?

It takes quite a while to become proficient on a scoped handgun. I was actually better at shooting my revolver and that is why I am now the proud ex-owner of a Contender. I should have remembered I learned that same lesson about 20 years ago but forgot it!

my hunting partner had the same thing happen ... serves you guys right for getting a license early! Judicious choice of when to buy a license is important. I've been messed up ever since they went away from calendar yr.

Tag transfer question for anyone with experience.

If you are a wounded warrior or minor with a terminal illness, you could qualify also and the guardian is not required. That part about the guardian not being the drawn person is a pretty funny loophole. So Gramps don't have to go out with the grandkid? Well, thank you for tidbit! -
When I was practiced up, I could shoot my bow way better and farther than my revolver. I tried the T/C Contender route twice and gave it up -- not for me. I think they are all about the same to me. Again, it is just Javelina so I don't get too wound up about an of it. HOWEVER, with the fancy in-line muzzleloaders with their 300 yrd accuracy qualifying as a primitive muzzleloader in AZ, it is a different story for me. Should they be allowed for the other big game??? How about that for a post steal? Sorry about that. But you did get a consistent answer on the AR-15 pistol being legal -- we rarely agree about anything on here!

That would be starting Friday ... THIS WEEK!

I asked the same question to AZGFD. Answer: they accept the legal definition of ATF. SOOooo ... for this season, the AR pistol is still a handgun. With the chaos going on as a result of the presidential election, I would not count on that current definition for long. Since the definition is based upon the whim of these bureaucrats and their "letter" for the definition of a handgun brace versus a stock. I have to give ole Mitch credit for squelching the last try, late last year of ATF to "legislate by letter" and rescind the ruling/letter that actually happened under Obama (go figure ??? Who would have thunk it???). Note: I do agree that it certainly goes against the "spirit of the law"; but, it is only for Javelina, so it is hard to get too excited about it.

so did the hunter have a cow tag?

Desert Bowhunting without the illegals

Everything north of I10 is better to get away from illegal traffic. Unit 27 is close to you and absolutely rugged, which discourages illegal traffic also. -
seemed to be done in 34B

Close encounter with an F-22 fighter jet
Big Tub replied to bigbuckfever's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Long ago I had an F4 come over and go inverted just over me and straight up ... I was on the ground from the noise! He was going so fast and so close to the ground that there was no way for him to have seen me. It, indeed, left an impression! -
Clinton save Colt with his gun ban and they did not turn it around then -- merely died slowly. I hope CZ can turn them around.

That be him! And he finally scored on his first big game! It was a great distraction the day after putting his best friend down.

I and my friend were fishing Riggs Flat and just slaying them (Little Rainbows). We cooked a few that were foul hooked for lunch and let all the others go. We went back and continued to slay them on flies and finally decided to pack it in with a couple hours of daylight left. We pulled into shore and was planning to get the Blazer to load the boat. They came to the boat all friendly and asked how fishing was and what not. They were genuinely disappointed to not bust us for doing something nefarious. There were three of them, all in plain clothes. And do you think those guys would help us load the boat onto the top of my Blazer? They took off really quick as if there was others to bust. Hardly anyone was up there at the time. I think they may have sold the good ole boy situation to any others watching if they had helped the two old guys load the boat on top of the Blazer! I realize they deal with the bad guys much of the time and expect the worst. I find it a somewhat humorous story, though.

I know a bird taxidermist that will bomb his shop once a year for good measure. I had an outbreak and he suggested bagging the turkey fan and setting off one of those little bombs inside the bag. A lot like bats (and rats) -- you hardly ever see the bugs but you often see the left over remnants.

Today we went gutless instead of field dressing it first, but pretty much did this the same way. One of these years, I might remember the gloves! That is quite a while to age the meat. I have never been that patient nor have had the room in the fridge. One comment on the gloves having dealt with silicone contamination and bonding. If you put your clean glove on with the dirty glove, you will have potentially cross-contaminated the clean glove.
