Anyone want to camp together in 35A for December Hunt?
Scooter replied to Big Browns's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
The Santa Ritas are not in 35A... I sing a different tune about the I-19 corridor or anything west of HWY 83. Whole different ball game with the smugglers over there. -
Added to the bucket list...

Good luck blood brothers!!!

Especially when the shoulder-mounted evidence of the infraction hangs prominently on a wall in your house...

I guess it's probably just all about the math. We've had what? Like 600 tags come through already this year? Thats like 800 people when you factor in buddies to help with camp, glassing, drinkin beer and what not. How many widows have been made, how many folks got killed or injured by border crossers? How many stolen vehicles? How many camps had valuable things stolen? I havent heard of any. I haven't read about any on here and I see lots of CWT stickers around them thar hills on any given weekend from September through January. Not as sensationally dangerous as some folks make it out to be. -

Oh lord, I've ruffled feathers. All I was doing is making an observation based on what I've read and by what I've seen living down here for a few years. You don't like it down here- fine. You don't want to bring your family down to hunt- great. I personally think it is a lot less risky than you do. It don't take decades to figure that out. You prove my point... "my story COULD have been life threatening". Yeah, I COULD get in a bad car wreck, I COULD have a home invasion, and I COULD be eaten by zombies someday. None of things would divert me from my normal life and what I want to do. The reality as I see it down here in 35A is that you stand a way better chance of getting mauled by a jaguar than you do of getting into a scrap with illegals- and we have both. I'm not trying to start a relaxing yellow stream contest Seldom Drawn, just sharing my .02 based off of what I read and what I've experienced. Your Pal, Dip Stick -
So I'm gonna just stick with material things... and leave the heavy stuff for prayer. I really want a gun safe with a combination lock and a nice .243 with at least a 24" barrel. I want to harvest a good Coues on my late rifle hunt. I want a decent muley in January with the bow.

B is a good choice if hunting through Xmas is not possible. Bucks down here aren't following the ladies quite yet- at least not that I've seen.

I don't know about where you are flcoues, but I haven't seen much rut activity going on just yet. Might want to place your efforts in sitting travel corridors, water, and food that's been getting hit hard.

3 Briley Extended Chokes for Browning Invector Plus. 12 Ga. SK, IC, CYL

Not invector plus??? -
They're worth half a tank of gas... That's nothing to turn your nose up at, plus if you are using them as payment to a very cool taxidermist...
-
I use the Army regular issue PT mat... Any surplus store will have them...

I missed one at 20yds the other day. Dang fox came in straight running uphill at me and did a 180 jump in the air when he saw me and I missed with 3" #4 buck as he was running downhill...

Heck, back in NY you weren't allowed to hunt on sundays and the shooting hours ended at noon on the refuge.
-
$$$$$ That's all I hear looking at those pretty gray's.
-
I've never hunted ducks after noon. I like to give them a spot to loaf around after getting chased around all morning.

I think the deer owe you a Christmas card or two this year...

Like I said before- the challenge will be trying to kill the distortion/fuzzy background noise from the free mp3's... It isn't easy to do, but if you're computer/tech savvy there are lots of free mp3 editing software downloads that will help you eliminate some of it, but not all of it. For downloads- start with Varmint Al's page. The 16 and 20 minute sequences he offers have been pretty good. and if you are an iPod or iPhone guy the iHunt App is awesome and distortion-free for the most part.
-
Take what you can get. There's so many other places and species to hunt
-
they should be on the tanks soon with this cold snap... it's really hit or miss on small water down here- lots of miles on the truck going from tank to tank. I've herad about picacho but never hunted there.

That's funny right there!
