Anyone buy a deer tag today?

The reason they aren't at the retailers is because of the price hike. That's my guess. They didn't want everyone to buy it at $34.75. I think that is kinda dirty, but it is what it is. Last week Monday I waited in a 40 minute line at Tucson. I might go up there today for some friends who can't make the drive...

    First Coues Down!

    Nice buck!!!
  8. I forgot to pack them for my deer this year and barehanded it. I did wear cut resistant gloves during the butchering process when I got the meat all cleaned up and cut. I usually ALWAYS have them with me but yeah- the one time I forget them I shoot a deer...

    .270 WSM questions

thanks guys. I will update if I decide to buy it this week. I don't like the 3-9x40 BDC and want them to put a different scope on it with some more magnification...

My first archery buck no good

It sounds like you planted an arrow right in the shoulder blade/joint area. Probably got 4" of penetration at best and maybe got a piece of a lung. I would still call G&F and report it and include the info about a homeowner who indicated there was an injured deer out front. Who knows, maybe karma will prevail and she'll get a ticket for feeding them or something.

    Cleaning Gloves

the smell might actually attract javelina- I'd keep em and wear them

    .270 WSM questions

I gotta have a few more experiences than what has already been said... Please? I really am serious about dropping money on it and don't want to get a caliber that will be lacking in the long range department

My first archery buck no good

Did you do a grid search? It sounded like you knew where it was headed... Did you contact G&F like it was suggested by another member? If it went into the housing areas or on-post G&F would help out gaining permission to recover the animal. Hate to see a lung hit deer go to waste. Keep looking! Heck, if I get time today I'd try to help you find it. Just can't give up on a deer that you hit hard behind the shoulder. Was the arrow dangling out of the deer or stuck in there good and firm?

So where is he at right now?

My first archery buck no good

    Hope you find him.
  16. Been using my .223 and/or shotgun, but I think I could actually get it done with my 10/22 and some Winchester Varmint HE's. How many of you have killed a furbearer with a .22lr rifle??? I'm not even entertaining taking any shots over 60yds. My 10/22 shoots one ragged hole at 50yds so accuracy is not an issue.

    Baiting Javelina

Thanks kazpilot... I have read that a million times and didn't realize javelina count as big game in AZ. Thanks again everyone for the update!

    Drone Use

If fair chase is defined clearly- yes... But fair chase means many different things to many different people. The drone would theoretically only be able to see the animal... Still a challenge exists to get a human hunter within range.

    Two Older Bows

Yikes, I was interested, but even at $75 for both it would still cost me too much in gas getting there. Hope somebody else grabs them! I really wanted to convert them into carp stickers!

    Baiting Javelina

I wouldn't describe myself as fat or lazy... But you're welcome to your opinions. Short season, HAM tag, and lots of potential for hunter pressure where I have been seeing them during deer hunts. I'd like to keep them coming by consistently- and it's more than a mile from the truck over two ridges... so don't worry shooter mcgavin- I'm getting my exercise. If I can't bait- it's fine, I'll just have to roll the dice that they'll keep the same travel pattern. Like gotcoues said, it's all hunting but can be done differently for every person. Does anybody know the specific A.R.S???
