Some quail and a nice jack
Scooter replied to Coues assassin's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Nice haul!!! -
That's just wierd... but more power to them! I like being able to see a target behind a small .019 pin so I can be more precise. I guess it's all up to the user but I feel like if you have a thicker pin and a small bullseye at longer distances- that the pin will occlude the target somewhat and accuracy could suffer. I run .029's up to 45yds and my 50-60 pins are the .019's.

Don't feel dumb... We're the dumb ones for not being able to rely on ourselves to remember to bring our licenses with us! We stash the extras because we're forgetful!
-
curious why you set it up that way? Well, at 50 and 60 my arrows arrow drop more rapidly so to keep my pin spacing semi-uniform I had to give up the 5's on the last two... Anything closer than 25yds is good to go with minimal hold under.

Did you check out the Maxus yet???
-
Duh, skin them out... Either stretch and prepare pelts yourself or find a taxidermist or a fur guy and work out a deal. Coyote pelts are worth some money- not as much as Bobcats, but still worth some $$$.

That buck has a bayonet!!!

+1 what kazpilot25 said... I print at least 5 copies when I buy it online and stick them in all of my packs/pockets and one in the truck for an emergency.

Large pins and 70 yard shots don't mix very well... Get a sight with capability for a 2x lens.
-
I shoot a Trophy Ridge Outlaw 5 pin. 0-25, 35, 45, 50, and 60. Good to go!

I'm waivering on whether or not to purchase and set up a .243 for coyotes... What rifle/scope/load are you guys out there using???
-
During the rut, I find a good consistent group of older does and set up natural blinds on their trail. Stay scent-free and sit still with the right wind. Now for the early season, find water and shade. I'm a 60 yard maximum guy just like CouesPursuit.

I use my Buck 105 pathfinder for just about everything. I have lots of knives, and I'm probably going to get a havalon just because it's the latest whiz-bang contraption.

Even an Edge or Axis???

It's a PSE Nova... Probably a 29/70

Retina lock is a floating dot that centers in the circle when you return to a previously established anchor point. It basically eliminates grip torque through forcing you to establish a consistent grip with your bow hand and also locks you in to super-consistent shooting form. I've heard that the IQ's are tough to initially set up, but the benefits are many once you get used to it.

An question about procedure...

The Snaro point gives you the ability to shoot one in the air -
STOMP, I'm using a Rossi .223 which has been effective, but it is a 1:10 twist and doesn't throw anything heavier than 62gr worth a dang. Need a deer-capable rifle with the ability to shoot heavier bullets that buck the wind.

"Sporting" kills are for snobby old dudes wearing all that pretty Filson hunting gear. Shoot them wherever they can be killed cleanly and recovered. That's sporting. -
I have the Alpine quiver, Whisker Biscuit and a Trophy Ridge Outlaw 5-pin on my bow. All economical and all functioning well.

Thanks for the very generous offer rcdinaz, I won't be driving up that way until the hunt, you mind hanging onto it until Nov 14th? I always make a stop in Chandler to grab 1lb of Rudy's smoked turkey...

Yep, needs some 'smith time... Hopefully it is as easy as a firing pin/spring replacement.
