I wasn't trying to be overly rude about it... but it's sort of an accepted internet hunting/fishing forum practice to leave out some of the details and if you want to know specifics just PM the person and let them decide whether or not to give up the area. Again, great pics- and now that I've thoroughly embarassed myself as the "forum police" I shall retire.

Coues assassin, if he wanted to share that information I think he would have put it in his original post. It is not normally something people will readily share on the open forums... Great Pics!!! I can't believe you zeroed out on deer in that prime-looking country!

^^^ My plan exactly!!!

ThomC, I am a soldier. We either had laundry service or hand washed in tubs or buckets... Or not at all. I grabbed a 5 gallon bucket and some sport wash. I'm gonna be in the field for the entire late archery hunt so my 4 sets of outerwear are certainly going to need a freshening at some point. Hopefully I can find a campsite with places to run 550 cord for a clothes line. Anybody else got a different plan?

No, I don't want to have 20 people on here selling me a Yeti or Canyon Cooler. They're out of my price range. I have an elk hunt coming up and it will probably be the last one for awhile since I am moving out of state for my job after this season... I just want to grab maybe a $50 100qt Coleman or two if necessary. How many quarts do I need for boned out elk meat? I was thinking I could get away with one big 100qt cooler (which I need to buy or borrow) and the smaller 40qt and 62qt coolers that I already own... Am I way short on volume?

Did you throw it out yet??? I'll take it if you still have it.

I will be going after elk for the first time! I have a late archery bull tag in 22N. So excited to start this adventure, but also very nervous and anxious because I really don't know what I'm getting myself into. I will be up there solo- no hunting buddies that are willing or able to make the trip and help out, so if any of y'all see me up there- don't hesitate to stop by and say hello!

i didn't see it yet...

I grew up in NY where we used wool like crazy... but out here- I have really only used my Russell L1 Alpine base layers and the L1 Reflector top and bottom. If I need heavier stuff I go to my military poly-pro's. I like to keep the bulk off and go as lightweight as possible.

Gonzaga Packing Students

Look, if they knew of the no-gun policy- then I guess they have to reap the very minor consequences... But at least they're both safe and alive because of their decision to defend themselves. It's the same thing with people who carry their concealed weapon into places where they are "not allowed". You go into that situation assuming that if you need to use your piece- then whatever stupid punishment they give you afterwards is less of a worry than the life-threatening situation you were placed in at that moment. It's a trade-off... Not saying that is the right thing, but it is what it is. -
Look at that awesome foliage!!! Great Memorial and my condolences to you. I too learned the ways of the woods in that state- and I hope to visit WNY soon so I can hunt with my Dad again...

I hunted for over 10 years using an Oneida Black Eagle and I wish that I had never switched. They are just absolutely awesome machines. Very smooth draw, fast, and forgiving. The only negative thing I can say is that they are loud and they tend to work and stay in tune better with heavier arrows. I shot 27" (equipped with an overdraw) Easton Super Slam xx78 2314's with feathers and 125gr heads. I hope you sell it to someone who will appreciate it!

leaving thurs for 22n- see yall there -
All substitutes, if cared for properly will retain performance. The obvious things to try to eliminate are moisture and large temperature swings. The less obvious thing would be bumpy rides and rough handling that physically break down the granules of powder into finer particles. That can actually be a bit dangerous as far as burn rate so pay attention to the proper granule size and try to not load with any "dust" from the bottom of the can...

Can you elaborate a bit on the rifle/load/bullet you used??? -
That looks like fantastic shot placement for a meat hunt!!! Great job guys! Instead of squirrels go back out and bust that coyote... Great to see young men out doing what they're born to do!

In the military we use a gentle cycle front loader or hand wash with sport wash or oxy clean then hang dry inside out... Trust me, if CIF will let you turn one in after a deployment using that cleaning method, it should work for you! Is it natural or synthetic down???

Just wasn't the same though...

Sneaky coyote buggers always know just where to jam me up.Third one this year that was well within shotgun range but I couldn't seal the deal... It's cool to call them in close with mouth calls but also frustrating because I just can't seem to make it all come together and get one on the ground. I even used a decoy today.
