Who's Not Afraid to Hunt Down South?
Huntress283 replied to John O's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
First year (last year) I put in for a rifle deer hunt I didn't get drawn, I was so disappointed I decided to pick up a left over tag for 36B. Most people I talked to said I wouldn't see any activity. I wasn't alone on this hunt thankfully and I was carrying a rifle and my hand gun, I felt safe. Definitely wouldn't have felt safe if I was alone. I was only able to hunt 2 days. The first day we came across 5 people walking directly below us from the high point we were glassing from, they noticed us after they passed us and minded their own business. The second day we hiked to a different high point and this time there was a larger group crossing (I think we counted 16) they kept to themselves as well. I never felt threatened. I had just as much fun spotting them as I did spotting coues. Here's a picture of the larger group crossing -
Had this bear come in last year.

RATTLESNAKE ON A COLD WINTER DAY
Huntress283 replied to billrquimby's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Yikes thank goodness the snake didn't strike. I live in the east valley and know little about snakes. I've always assumed I'd never come across a snake that is active in the cold months here in the valley (maybe excluding the days in January where our high is in the mid 70's). Spring, Summer and Fall is a different story but during the winter months I would take my dogs out hiking etc. and not think twice about snakes, until I started working at a golf course. I'd drive around all day on the cart and I was amazed at the number of snakes I came across during the time of year i figured they'd be dormant. It definitely resulted in me becoming more cautious with my dogs. -

Does anyone know of a good archery instructor that is giving lessons in the East Valley Area?
-
Thanks! I think i'll end up heading into Archery Headquarters and i'll definitely let them know I heard about their classes/lessons here!
-
I highly recommend Archery Headquarters in Chandler!!! I just bought a new bow from them in April and George specifically was awesome and so helpful! I purchased a Matthews Jewel and I absolutely love it!! It was definitely worth the price and I know it will last me a very long time. Before I decided to go with the Jewel they let me test a few different bows. I suggest taking your wife there so she can shoot a few different bows before she makes her decision. Best of luck!!!
