I agree with huntntat2 hit the canyon!! The elk have been pushed & they are not coming out of that canyon if there is food & water there.

I had my card charged 9 times when I put in for the draw. I contacted fish & game & got refunded for all charges, it took a few phone calls until it was resolved. I reapplied on the last day apps were due everything went thru fine & drew my first choice.

Vortex torque specs versus Leupold specs.
goinhuntn replied to murfys69law's topic in Optics and tripods
Thanks for the post Murfy I just put this scope on my 300 win mag I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I had read your previous post about your tracking problem and was beginning to 2nd guess buying that scope. I had done lots of research & read several reviews before I purchased. I have other Vortex optics & am extremely happy with them so this will put my mind at ease. -
I have the axis nice rifle for the money. the axis II has the accutrigger, which mine doesn't. I ditched the bushnell scope & put a redfield 3x9x40 accurange on its a good shooter.

I posted this in the maps forum, but thought I would try here. Anyone know where to get a good topo map of unit 17B & 18B? I have maps of other units from Flatline, but they don't have these units yet.

Man I hope Bass Pro doesn't buy out Cabelas!! Basspro doesn't even hold a candle to equipment & gear Cabelas has. If this happens I will start shopping for gear at Sportsman's

Removing rubber coating from savage stock
goinhuntn replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
GreyGhost I had the same problem. I bought The LRH & the day I got it home I peeled the savage stickers off the stock & the rubber coating came with it. I had intentions on custom painting the stock anyway just not that soon. I sanded the stock with a vibrating sander than cleaned it real good as the rubber coating gums up on the stock so you need to clean the piss out of it. I primed the stock real good than used textured spray paint than a clear coat for final. the stock came out awesome & it looks like a custom after market stock. I took it to the gun shop where I had purchased the rifle, and they wanted to know where I got the custom stock when i told them I did myself they couldn't believe it. If I could figure out to post pics I would. The whole process took about 3 days as I let the primer & paint cure. maybe have 6 hours total in it. -
