CONCERNS WITH COUESWHITETAIL.COM
Rembrant replied to tjhunt2's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
E-bashing is bad, agreed. E-sharing specific information on honey-holes is foolish. If you must be so benevolent, or if you have a need to be recognized for your knowledge, please do it in a pm, so that the general e-scouting public (lurkers, bad guys and all) aren't undersevingly blessed. It is my opinion, which I am certainly entitled to, that our rescources are limited, and that by handing out information without discretion is robbing people of the joy that we all experience by busting our own butts and doing the field research ourselves. Let the debate rage: not everyone has the time etc., etc - we've been through this before. Bad attitudes and language have no place here, but if your arguement is that someone pinged you for freely disclosing special hunting spots, you will get no sympathy from me. Mike -
whatever happened to Ernesto C???

You are responsible for your own sorting. If family comes before country, for me, then I would have done everything I could to talk my son out of being a U.S. Marine. And if family comes before country and my son is injured or killed in the line of duty, then I will protest the war and everything about it, like 'what's her name' did. If family comes before country and we protect our families at the expense of our country, then we won't have a country to protect our families. I thank God for the brave men and women that have protected this great country, in all the American wars, so that we can raise our families in peace. Families are extremely important - the very core of our society, yet there is an order, at least in my mind, that must be in place to allow our greatness to continue. Thanks for bringing this up Noel, Mike -

whatever happened to Ernesto C???
Rembrant replied to fatfootdoc's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I don't know Ernesto's story, and it ain't my job to judge him anyway. I don't believe he was born in this country (I could be wrong), yet he seems to be doing well for himself here. I think the difficult thread that Mark mentioned was indeed the reason he left. Must have struck a chord that was very personal with him. I have the highest respect for Mexicans that come here, work hard, get citizenship, and become succesfull. Some of these guys look at our country and see the potential that it was designed to give - where a lot of lazy complacent Americans look at the potential for a hand out. Then the hard working Mexicans figure out how to come here and make it happen. That is deserving of respect. This situation has historically been good for Americans and Mexicans alike, yet when tens of million Mexicans come here, and they ain't all hard working, it puts the strain on our benevolent healthcare and welfare systems. That's what the thread was about - stopping the exodus from Mexico. I am sorry that Ernesto parted company with us, he's a heck of a hunter, my Christian brother, and all around good guy that had a lot of good things to add to this site. I hope that as he continues on as an American he can constantly evaluate his allegiances. For me it's God, country, family. When family comes first, it undermines the others. If this country becomes tribal, we will cease to be great and be no better than most of the rest of the countries in the world. I read that string over and over. It was about as right-winged as we get on this site, and though it was rough enough to offend one of our veteran members, I don't believe it crossed the line where it could be considered racist. Ernesto, if you read this, please understand that the views that angered you were not intended to be racial. The intention was patriotism - country BEFORE race. And Ernesto, ain't nobody here holding anything against you. In fact, we'd love to hear from you. We love you brother, Mike -

Palin killing Alaska's wolves from airplanes...
Rembrant replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Other Big Game
The creationism remark has been proven false. Palin apparently has not propoted creationism in Alaskan public schools - though that would be OK with me. Really odd, yet consistant how liberals are anti-hunting, pro-global warming, pro-evolution, pro-homosexual, anti-Christian. They believe animals are more important than people, they call killing babies "choice", and killing deer murder. Creationists want inteligent design taught along with evolution. Liberals cannot tolerate inteligent design at all, and they say Christians are intolerant. When I was a kid none of this stuff was in the political realm. Heck, divorce was something too shameful to talk about. Now we have serious moral issues to deal with and it's polarizing our country. Back in the day, bad was bad. Now about half our country thinks that bad is good, and if you stand up for good, you are a hateful intolerant person. Mike -
What a Joke.......

The liberal Arizona Republic's 9-11 front page had two related stories; one about the loss of human life on 9-11, and another about how Alkaida is still alive and well. Not too bad, but I'm sure there could have been a balancing story about all the Alkaida leaders and operations that have been destroyed. The Arizona Daily Sun in Flagstaff has no 9-11 related story at all. The big front page news is about the gay folks trying to gain preferencial treatment with a "fairness initiative". The story slanted way left and portrayed local pastors as hateful bigots. I saw this paper in the lunch room at work. I quit buying it years ago. Mike -

Sarah Palin's Speech
Rembrant replied to Lookin4amonster's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I love a conservative right-wing person who has things sorted out. It's "world-view" fellas. She knows who she is, because she knows who she is in Christ. She posseses a Christian world-view. This is a world-view that is black and white, where there is right and wrong, and the lines are clearly defined. None of that stupid political correctness, and apologizing for ones convictions. People tell me that McCain got Palin to get the women's vote. Yes, that's true, but it's bigger than that; he got Palin to secure the middle American, common sense, God fearing people, that this country mostly consists of vote. McCain's looking pretty smart right now. Yep, I believe she is the real deal. I was thinking we'd never see another person in the white house after Bush with balls. I hope I'm wrong. I hope we get to elect Palin to help McCain. It's all about the world-view. What's Obama's world-view? 180 degrees in the oposite direction (and calls himself a Christian?) and a danger to everything we hold dear in this great country. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Mike -
The thing that gets me about all of the presidents is that they are all human. No way around it. I get real tired of the critics (used to be every one was a comedian, now everyone is a critic) when they bash Bush in his efforts to lead the free world and I look at who the critcism is coming from and they can't even get bar coding accomplished in a wharehouse after 3 years, or deal with simple personel problems, etc., etc. Oh, the humanity! Hey maybe Palin will be a better president than McCain, if he passes. Mike

Good point. The whole thing may have been taken out of context, just as Obama is apparently taking the Bible out of context, yet it is hard to imagine any context justifying those remarks. I think he is a scary individual. Mike
-
Christian principles may not be a main focus for a lot of us when it comes to our president, but this country was in fact founded upon Judeo/Christian principles, and we just happen to have the greatest country in the world. In this video, Obama tells us how important he thinks the Bible is to the running of this society. In a few sentences he shows us what he thinks of God's holy Word, discredits the fact that our country was founded on these principles, gives Americans no credit for understanding the Bible, and reveals what a dangerous man he really is...

She ran the good old boys out of the politics, cleaned up the ethics and got em fiscally on track. Being a governor is actually running something, more than can be said for a senator. Watch the dems blow up on her lack of experience, which is the truth, but do they have the room to do that with Obama having 4 years senate experience? No. She's a winner. Values and guts, more than Mc Cain. Gotta give John credit - he's stirring it up with this move. And for the superficial public that would vote for a woman simply because she'a a woman? bingo And good looking too. Way to be John! Mike

Jim, In the article it is atated that "hunter participation has been decreasing for decades". Is this a broad general statement for the entire United States, or the whole world? Because I used to get a deer tag and even an archery bull tag nearly every year here in Arizona; turkey tags too. Now I'm lucky to get a deer or turky tag, and hope I can remember how to hunt elk if I ever get drawn again. The common sense that God gave me tells me this is because there are just too darn many applicants per permits - more than ever. Isn't this also the main reason behind the new hunt structures, to allow more people in the field (that nowdays have to sit home 'cause they can't draw a tag?) How in the heck can you qualify the above quote? Mike

Redneck, I feel exactly the same way. If I were to play the cigar game at my work - and got caught - I would be promptly fired. And should be. Why should it ever be overlooked and seemingly forgotten for the president of the United States to do something as juvinile and perverted - on our dollar and time, and still be highly regarded in the public eye as to be a main speaker at the democratic convention? But then again, in a party that propotes socialism, gay marriage, gun control, and abortion, maybe Bill's deal ain't such a big deal for them? Mike -

Yeah but if "Jobamma" (Joe Leiberman and Barak Obama) get ellected I can quit my job, go back to school, and have all my tuition medical expenses paid for free!! YESS!! I BELIEVE!!! I keep on wonderin what the heck the "change you can believe in" is supposed to be, then I finally figured out they've been tellin us the whole while: socialism. Hang on to your wallets fellas, socialistic countries like Switzerland and Sweden have tax rates of 50%. Won't make no sense to try if the Gov takes it all away - so everybody can go to the doctor and school for free. Everybody already goes to the doctor, just ask the illegals. Suicide is a major past time in socialistic nations as well - 'cause there ain't no sense in trying if you can't get ahead. The Apostle Paul said that if you don't work you don't eat. Socialism promotes laziness. Maybe Jobamma knows something the Bible don't. Mike -

The 10 commandments are not "dont's" made up by man, nor are they orders that are barked out by a hateful joy-killing god that can't wait to hammer you when you screw up. Instead they are a freely given "guide to life" that helps and enhances the lives of those who obey them. Think about it; the first three are about our relationship with God, the rest are about are relationships with people. If we don't get the God part right, the rest don't matter - we can make it up as we go along. If we don't get the people part right, our lives will suffer for it. Example; If you lie alot, no one will believe anything you say, or trust you, or like you. Same thing if you steal. What if you like having other people's wives? Relationships, families, trust and lives destroyed. Murder? Wanting what your neighbor has? Not honoring your parents? You get the point. It's easy, not hard. I've learned to trust God and the Bible, though it took me a long, long time to get here. I used to trust science over God. Now I trust God over science. Heck, it took man up until the 1970's to figure out, by measuring the expanding universe, the Big Bang Theory - that there was a starting point. Do you know what the first three words in the Bible are? "In the beginning". The Bible was correct the whole time. It is facinating that science cannot disprove God, should have by now, still hasn't, and never will. The wisdom I've found ain't mine, it's God's. Mike

For me its a full on broadside shot or nothing. 24 hours is the wait for a gut-shot animal. You will lose the meat. The animal is not likely to die from blood loss but rather septic poisoning of the blood. This will take a long time. tracking before 24 hours will push the animal and you may lose him. If you back off and wait he will have gone the 40 or 50 yds, bedded down and died there, because they do not want to move. A slight quartering away is still a good shot. A quartering towards you is never a good shot and I will never take one again. Sorry about what happened. I hope you get your skull, Mike

I agree with JeremyB. Or alternate freezer time with a lot of air movement, like an occasional ride in the back of a truck in a cold climate - with 95% of the time in the freezer. This is basically freeze drying the velvet. But get it frozen quick, before it has a chance to start decomposing. This works real good and will last forever. Mike

Teachers with Guns
Rembrant replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The media will NEVER report a story where somebody with a gun saved the day. You can bet it happens, we just don't hear about it. Ever in your life know about a cop getting robbed? Why do you suppose that is? Make em take the conceled weapons coarse. Require them to be armed. We've got enough evil running around massacering people to warrant it. Mike -
Horse Mountain it is. Unit 32, Arivaipa road, to the south at the head of Rattlesnake and 4 Mile Canyons.
