Try Middlemarch Rd Pass or Cochise Stronghold West

I have had a Thompson Center Contender pistol for many years. My son bought one a few years ago and got a 10 inch 410/45 LC barrel for it. That barrel is awesome. It is a great rabbit and quail gun. The best part is he lets me use it whenever I want!

Being unionized does not make everything better. Ninteenth century solutions don't work so well in the twentyfirst century.

I hunted Coues this fall in a unit that also has Antelope. I have hunted this unit maybe ten times before. I was amazed at how many fawns there were. It seems that the fawn survival had doubled. I'm thinking that the night hunting of coyotes probably played a big part. Thank you Arizona Game and Fish and coyote hunters. Bisbee

Nothing warms you up like dragging a buck!

That is a tremendous amount of great photos!

This is a fine write up about your hunt. I felt like I was there! Nice buck. You guys did good.

I saw a dandy four point two nights ago right by the public access to Brown canyon on Ramsey Canyon Rd.

I believe that if you are shooting a handgun that has velocity under 1000 feet per second the damage to your ears is much less than magnums. I screwed my ears up shooting a 44 mag without ear protection as a young man. I shoot my 45 auto without ear plugs on rare occasions without the effects that the magums have.

That was a awesome shot! I was amazed at the hang time of the arrow.

There is a warning for all of us here in this freezer disaster. Is the outlet your freezer is plugged into GFCI protected? These outlets trip at the slightest provocation. This is great if you are using a powertool and get shocked but is inappropriate for a deep freeze. Check your outlets guys! The outlets in a garage in a newer home are GFCIs, outside outlets are also.

My teenage son, my brother and I are heading north tomorrow for our elk hunt. Man I have waited for this for soooo long now that I cant hardly believe it is real! It is supposed to rain and snow friday, what the heck we will have a great time anyway. If you are hunting in 7W lookout for my Ford Ranger with a lumber rack and my outfitters tent. Come say hi. Two years ago we went hiking on top from rustlers park to Fly peak during a deer season. There were two deer shot just before we got there, way up high in the burns. Could be a good place to check. They were nice bucks too, not spikes and forks.

Nice story telling. I read it to my family, we felt like we were there. You are getting us rifle elk hunters all pumped for our hunt next week! So. How did you do on your test?

This year I'll be packing my Winchester M70 in 270win stoked with 150 grain triple shock bullets. My son is using a T/C Venture in 300WM and 165 grain original x bullets.

Where Batamote Road goes alongside of the Cerro Colorado hills check out those long canyons in the cholla forest. I hunted up here with my boys on a junior javelina hunt a few years ago. We saw the biggest mulie buck that I have ever seen along with two other biggies. There was lots of sign there. They weren't very frightened of us since they deal with our illegal alien problem all of the time.

In a few months all that you will remember is the great time you and your dad had hunting. Thankfully we humans remember the good better than the bad. Nice looking deer too.

Dang, I would have at least tagged him if I was leaving him out all night. -
Awesome buck! Well done young man.

That was so good to read about this hunt and see the pictures! Congratulations to all of you. It seems to take a exceptional girl to go hunting. I wish that my nieces would.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. Good writing and photos. Not all hunts turn out so well but these are the ones that we prefer to read about! Congratulations!

A nicely written story and, Pictures too! There is nothing as satisfying as hunting with your kids. Congratulations to both of you. Bisbee

They were drinking from puddles last weekend. I bet you already know that. Where were you guys seeing elk in 7W? We hunted mulies last weekend in 7W. The deer were up high but, the hunters were mostly roadbound. We saw a few elk but not as much as other years any reports will be appreciated. Saw 6 bulls on opening morning, at least two nice 6x6. I was in elk all morning. They were still bugling (Oct 28th) that morning, but since then have been silent. That was in the hills just west of Cowboy Tank. I had glassed up a nice bull the week before the opener in the same area. Saw elk in and around Buck Mountain on the 30th. I only laid eyes on cows, don't know if they had a bull with them. Also, they rutted hard on the North side of Red Mountain. I hiked through there two different times looking for deer. Trees are shredded everywhere, lots of big bull sign. I didn't see any bodies, though, don't know if they've moved on. There isn't any water in that immediate area, so probably wouldn't be worth pursuing unless we get some rain/snow. I haven't laid eyes on a buck yet. Still looking, seeing does in the pines but that's it. Most of the areas with junipers where I normally scout bigger bucks didn't get any water. Any ideas?
