What happened today on the opener? ANYONE?
Bisbee replied to grey curse's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I went out on Friday with a orthopedic sling on my arm due to shoulder surgery two weeks ago. I had put a bipod on my 6.5 Creedmoor AR so that I could shoot it. I put a fork horn down at about 8:30. The buck went down immediately. My brother and sweet sister in law drug it out for me, over a mile to the truck! It don't get much better than this. -
Oak and junipers areas do much better than the pine forests, if that is what you are asking.

I woke up and couldn't sleep. I have some work to finish this morning then I leave for unit 7. My hunt starts tomorrow. As I am browsing CouesWhitetail. com, I hear a noise in my yard. I turned on the light and went out to see and there is a 4x5 mulie buck eating leaves out of my apricot tree 20 feet away! I talked low to him and he stayed right there. Finally I stepped out into the light and he ran. I hope that his relatives in northern Arizona are as cooperative. Bisbee

Check what they are selling for on Gun Broker and Ed's Contenders. -
My brother and I are drawn for unit seven. The same unit we are hunting Bull elk in a few weeks later! Last time we hunted mulies in 7 two of my sons hunted with us and we all tagged out. It was the best hunt ever.

I went out scouting this morning. It had rained yesterday so all the tracks were fresh. I could not believe how many lion tracks I saw. I did see more illegal aliens than deer, on the way back I had to cross through areas where I had glassed aliens earlier. I get apprehensive around smuggling, ever since a run in with drug smugglers along time ago. There are places that you shouldn't go alone.

I'm looking to get a rangefinder. Straight answers are hard to find. I can not afford european quality, don't go there. I want to range out to 600 yards. I'm looking at the nikon 1000 riflehunter and prostaff 7. The Bushnell arc 1000 &1300 and vortex 1000. Tell me your experiences and what you know. Thanks

Anyone want to camp together in 35A for December Hunt?
Bisbee replied to Big Browns's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
This was 2004 I believe. The sheriff Dept initially thought it was a bear attack but, the autopsy showed that he was shot all to heck. The authorities think that it was smugglers. Yeah it is just one guy but if it happens to you it is everything. !Be careful out there! ARIZONA DAILY STAR A Tucson man was killed and his body found at his camp site in the Santa Rita Mountains Sunday, police said. The man told family members he was going hunting and camping on Thursday. They became concerned when they hadn’t heard from him by Sunday and went looking for him at his usual camp site. They found his body at his camp site off Forest Service Road 485 and originally reported to sheriff's deputies that the man had been mauled by a bear. Sheriff investigators classified the death as a homicide. The body was brought down the mountain last night. “Somebody came upon him between Thursday and Sunday and murdered him,” said Sgt. James Ogden, a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim until this afternoon, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. The investigation continued this morning. Read more about it in tomorrow’s Arizona Daily Star Read more: http://ushunting.proboards.com/thread/13552#ixzz2nHpxGOhl -

It seems hard to drink a beer out of a can without leaving fingerprints. -
Really in 34B whitetail are found clear down to the Cienaga creek/wash. I used to hunt mulies there but they are just about gone replaced by whitetail.

I have lived in this unit for 22 years. It was spooky before the border wall went up. It is much calmer now. It is nothing like the Arivaca area now.
