24B Muley tag, gonna be a great year. Land home from the slope less than 48 hours before this hunt starts and less than 72 hours after this hunt ends my brother in law and I have to go setup camp for our 4A rifle bull tags. Congrats everyone who got drawn.

We always have a few stragglers in the area year round, but our first big heard went through today. Should be getting some herds 4X this size or larger in the next few weeks.

Search "North Slope Jobs", if you have a trade it is best. The most openings are going into winter.

Keep my head on a swivel, because polars don't hibernate and have been known to be out in the storms that we can only see 5 feet in front of us. Plus this winter we had some of the roaming wolves in our area, and had sightings at a pit I went to by myself first thing in the morning. I actually enjoy seeing everything, and am a firm believer in just staying calm when they are around. Both the first polar bear and the griz yesterday made eye contact with me, never felt fear but felt very excited.

It also comes with a 4 week on and 4 week off schedule, 12 hour days standard but have worked up to 21 and we still start the same time the next day. lol. Most I have worked is 456 hours in 28.5 days, and since I am a fueler I am out in the cold more than any other position and go out no matter how bad the weather is since everything runs on diesel. Temps since I have been here have gotten as low as -95* with windchill and as warm as 85*, and summer is mosquito season and they are horrible as of today. Really not a bad job though, just not for everyone and has a high turnover rate. Even though I am earning my degree while I am up here, the slope life is in my blood now and I don't see going back to a normal job.

Seeing the animals and the scenery are what I love up here. Give me a second and I will post my polar pics from last year.

Just figured I would share a few pics of the Grizzly we had at my camp up here at work in the oilfields in Alaska. Had a couple encounters with Polar Bears last summer (my first one was at 50 yards while out of the cab of my tanker), but didn't get my first Grizzly till today.

Been a great last week. Spent 3 of my last 4 days home before flying up Monday afternoon scouting/re acquainting myself with my elk unit since its been years since I hunted it, and had a lot of great sights scouting. Found some big bulls in velvet, kicked a nice black bear and on our way out crossed paths with a single cow being stalked by a coyote (think the rest of the pack had the calf and he was the pusher). Only been back up here since yesterday and have a heard of muskox, few hundred caribou, foxes and now the griz. Hoping when I go up in the helicopter next week to help check ice pack, that we see a few more polars.

If I had the storage for it, always wanted to make a nice hunting rig out of that body style. Good luck on the sale.

dang, I fly back to Alaska on the 24th for 5 weeks. Boots might have actually worked for me, bags were what I wanted the most.

You ever up near the Phoenix/Queen Creek area? Interested in the dry bags for sure, how narrow are the Danners? Dan

Anytime bud, its a great site over there and if anyone is gonna know someone looking right now its my friends over there. My hunting rig is also being built to be a full size expedition and search, rescue & recovery rig. Here are some pics of mine mounted to help; a couple of it setup, one with my buddy "hunting" at Country Thunder and one of it collapsed for travel.

Great little tents, picked one up earlier this year and have used it on a 6 day trip to Utah in cold weather, Country Thunder and a few other random trips. Heck it will be my home when I drive from here to my work yard in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and back next year. I would also recommend posting it on my expedition wheeling clubs site Off Road Passport.

Just picked mine up, even better setup when you see it in person. Ground clearance is amazing, almost better than my Ram with 6" of lift. Good luck on the sale.

Just messaged you.

Driving up to Mt. Shasta next week to pick this exact year and model up from a buddy I work with here in Prudhoe Bay, great setup and able to go into the back country a lot further than most campers. Good luck on the sale

I want it, and sounds like I have a place to store it after talking to my dad. Where are you located? -

I fly home from Prudhoe on the 28th, and if I can find someplace to store it I will shoot you a message. Looking into building a cabin on my time off and would love to have this for it. Dan -
I will let my brother in law know. Its a Mombasa rooftop tent from Africa, mounted on a heavy duty rack we fabbed into my truck bed. Been loving it so far.... used it camping at National Parks in Utah my last hitch home, and a camping trip and Country Thunder so far this time home.
