Welcome to CW.com! az for shore! i have been able to draw a archery bull tag in az every other year. and ive had good opportunity's to kill bulls over 350+ just that im not that gooda hunter to tag one out every year lol. if you are wanting to hunt in places like Unit 9. then, then yep youll be waitin a while. And AZ has the best gun friendly laws in the country

Ulmer Edges for me! the bull in my avatar was killed @76 yrds. the only thing that stopped it from a clean pass through was the rib on the opposite side. it is a awesome design with a extremely low profile, and you can put in a little set screw for practice mode so it will keeps blades sharp. but like others have mentioned, shot placement is key to everything!

I have found that the only time i ever use a bugle is when i locate a bull, after that i strap it on my back and dont touch it. for a bugle i use the Primos terminator, it has both a bugle and cow call in one. the only time ive used a bull call and actually had success was when we hit the very peak of the rut, the bulls was goin insane, and they were tryin to kill each other, other than that have had very limited success. if i am going to call, i use my cow call, and even then if they are talking why should i?

I always give help and info to folks, but NEVER my sweet spots. but generally when people as for advise or help they arnt lookin for a trophy, just a small bull or cow. so ill tell them where i know there is a ton of elk is but also a ton of people. so its not gonna bother me if they r in there huntin. and like its been said, just a starting point. the places i like to hunt is where others arnt, so if there is a million and a half people there already why does it matter? besides the world is already full of people who hate hunting, if walmart shut down for a week they would starve, so why not try and lend a helping hand to someone who is at least trying? -
thats a awesome hunt! good luck!

A very tough hunt this year! lots of coulda woulda shoulda's. Dad got up high and talked us in to a 300 class bull opening evening, two more steps to take and would have had a perfect 25 yard shot, then little brother steped on a branch lol. Oh well! it woulda been his bull anyhow! The elk didnt really start to rut till the last 4 days of season then we started to have opportunites. On the last morning I got on a 320 class bull and decided to try and call him in instead of sneaking up on him, he actualy decided to come to my cow call, (can you beleive that??) Well I just so happened to be in the middle of a field attempting to cross and set up closer (bad idea) and i seen him commin, so i droped to me knees and was prayin he wouldnt see me, well at 95 yards he wouldnt come closer, so I let 'er fly, (i know im gonna get chewed on for sayin it but I have can shoot a 5" group all day at 90.) well the one tree limb that was stickin out halfway to me and the bull got in the way. and that was the last of him. so tonight im eatin tag soup, what about yall?
-
hold on a second fellas. i didnt want to start an argument, just wanted to tell yall my experience! but seriously, I would not take a shot unless i was 100% confident in my shooting ability! it was a clean shot and i would have killed him had not the branch been there! things happen to everyone!

congrats! unfortanatly im eating tag soup :-(
