Jazz, you may want to check the regs. Most of the time, drones are illegal for scouting.

Anybody own this stand?
bowhuntinmaniac replied to BackwoodsHunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
That is my stand and plan on using it in September. -
My app only showed unit 9 archery so, that's what I did. Bogus points for antelope.

Why cant G&F be proactive and take out the lions BEFORE the sheep are transplanted. Thousands of $ are spent on these projects and everybody feels like they accomplished something. Why did the sheep disappear from the Catalinas in the 90s? Maybe that should have told them something. A few years ago, G&F did an antelope transplant from 19A to the strip and one buck was, if I remember right, over 88". Instead of closing this unit for a year and letting the buck get established and go through one rut, the buck was killed by a hunter about 3 months after he was transplanted. Makes no sense....

ThomC, You do know G&F monitors the hunting sites, right? -
Looks like the old Snuffers. The width of the blades are way to flimsy to go thru any heavy bone and survive.

Pinal County Deputy shoots unarmed man
bowhuntinmaniac replied to DesertBull's topic in The Campfire
It aint over till the fat lady sings...there is a criminal investigation, the family will sue the deputy and the county. And, it is very hard to make a snap decision with yer mind full of adrenaline and trying to anticipate his next move....I would guess how that guy withstood the beanbags and taser, his mind was influenced by too much of something. I used to live about a block from where this happened. His family will declare he was giving up and was doing nothing wrong...probably even say the police were harassing him, but, how did he get in that situation in the first place? -
What's the craziest thing you have done while out hunting?
bowhuntinmaniac replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in The Campfire
Years ago, I used to catch rattlers, cut their spine thru their mouth and, trade them for taxidermy work. Well, once when I was driving, I found a nice coontail crossing the highway and, I cut his spine but, didn't have a bag to put him in so, I just threw him in the console of my Bronco. When I got home, I opened the console and my friend started to look in. All at once, I heard the familiar rattle and immediately shut the lid. My friend looked at me and his eyes were as big as baseballs. That was a neat experience getting that mad snake out of there.. -
Just make yer own...some carpet, old shoes and, shoe goo.

Reading these brought back a lot of memories.... One time I was sitting a dirt tank for coyotes in 37B and watched a big ol' bull saunter in to get a drink. As he did he went into the water so his shoulders were just above the water. When he decided to leave, he couldn't pull his front feet out of the mud and he started lunging to get them free. As he did this, he stumbled and fell. The bull was thrashing the water so much, there were pretty big waves. He never got to his feet and drowned right there. Another time, a friend, my youngest son and I were near 7 springs and found a cow buried in the mud and could not move. We tried everything but, finally had to throw a tow strap around her chest and drag her out with the truck. I was afraid we were gonna pinch her with the strap and cave her ribs in but, she walked off without a care in the world. One time another friend and I went to check a G&F drinker. This drinker is on top of a mountain and takes a while to drive to. After we stopped and crossed the fence, we started seeing bones. Then found a deer fawn laying dead in the trail. The smell of death was everywhere as we walked around. In all we found 12 lion killed deer, most partially buried under the trees and bushes.
