WOW. Great pictures as usual. You should give a class to us novices. I Love that area of Colorado.

I was all in until you mentioned snakes! I HATE Snakes!!!!!!!!!! Even the lion following you isn't as scary as the SNAKES! Sounds like interesting night. Glad nothing ate you or bit you.
-
Congrats on your Bear! Great story to go along with the picture.

youtube gutless method. There are several videos on it. Pretty straight forward and a lot cleaner method.

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I love the chipmunk and the sun through the trees.

Smart thinking. If it doesn't feel right trust your GUT! Glad you enjoyed it. As someone smart just said. Arizona ain't too bad.

Not crazy to want to spend time in the field with your daughter. I think determined is a better term! Good Luck.

I had the same ring tone but the dogs went crazy every time it went off. Plus I never get drawn for elk so it just teases me! -
Towers needs to go. I sometimes wonder if he is getting paid by another team? I believe he went to the Bidwell school of trading. Trades young talent to get old pitchers. Very hard to watch anymore.

That is hilarious!

Congrats Waldo! Great job and nice shot!

That's some BIG country. I'd be practicing at 500 yds. If I had the vacation time I would try to hold out for bigger than 80's. I said TRY! It's your hunt. If you want to shoot him then go ahead. Make sure you take pics and write down the story of your hunt. Congrats on a great tag and Good Luck!

Congrats on a GREAT tag. I hope the memories you make are of a huge Coues!

Born and raised in AZ with a 13 year side track to NM. I got drawn for elk 11 out of 13 tries in NM. I've been drawn 3 out of 30 tries in AZ! I Love both places. The weather is better in NM (except for the wind). You actually get 4 seasons in NM instead of the 2 seasons in the valley. NM has much better stream fishing but AZ has better lake fishing. Love the food in both places with the edge going to Green Chiles! NM is proud of its heritage and makes sure to keep it. True Arizonans are proud of their heritage as well we just don't have many of us around. PHX metro is mostly made up of transplants! NM has a LOT fewer people which makes it really nice. AZ has more job opportunities compared to NM. School systems are both mediocre (not the teachers) with AZ getting the edge IMO. If I had the opportunity to move back to NM I would. My wife would go back in New York Minute (especially when it's 110 degrees here)!

Careful they might be Mule steaks!

Fixed wing will give just as much info for a lot less money. Don't see anything wrong using this method to learn an area. water, access and camping. It doesn't beat boots on the ground but helps you decide where to spend the most time walking. As mentioned make sure the pilot is watching where he's going instead of what's on the ground. There are a lot of cables across canyons and power lines out there. I did see an ultralight flying on opening day of Elk in 5BN one year. Called him in to G&F but don't know if they caught him.
