Here are some more very recent trail cam picutres... No wonder there are very few deer in these southern units...
-
Frogger are you sure? G&F and Pima County Sheriff told me that to be properly posted your property had to have signs: 1.) at every entrance (road or gate) 2.) at every corner 3.) and every 1/4 mile ( 440 yds.) between corners anyone else have the law infront of them...

anyone elase with a 22 south muzzy elk tag?
AZLance replied to AZLance's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I am curious to where most of the 40 hunters will be concentrated? I want to avoid the crowds... -
bcoover, Talk to the area G&F officer. I had the same problem in 34A. I posted the entire property, and these lame wanna-be hunters would park next to the "no tresspassing" sign and then climb over the fence 2' feet away from the sign. I let the 34A WM know about the problem and he ran the license plate #'s I gave him and paid a visit to their house later that night. After that, the WM kind of watched out for my property. He is gone now, so I will have to contact the new WM if the problem arrises again. I will let anyone hunt there or cross my property who takes the time to research who the owner is and call me. In 12 years only one guy has done that, and he has had permission from me every year. In that same time I have called in 17 license plate #'s to G&F and local sheriff of people who have no respect for the law. just for the record, I have never had any trucks with CouesWhitetail.com stickers parked at the "no trespassing" sign... you guys are too smart.

Go to Ebay, and type in Motion Detector Alarm. There are several battery opperated devices that will give your camp some added security... I usally set up two of them to form a perimeter when going to sleep.

Leaving deer attractant out
AZLance replied to greekassassin's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Clay, The rule in the regulations used to read "you may not knowingly hunt bears over bait" BUT the rule has now changed language to say; 1. No person shall knowingly use any substance as bait at any time to attract or take bear (R12- 4-304). The new rule says nothing about hunting over bait, it specifically says you may not use any substance to attract or take a bear. I am not saying I agree with the rule, but this is what G&F is saying in the regulations now. -
Leaving deer attractant out
AZLance replied to greekassassin's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
According to AZ Game and Fish 2008 Spring Hunting Regulations; 1. No person shall knowingly use any substance as bait at any time to attract or take bear (R12- 4-304). This means if you put out a substance, (ie; salt, corn, deer cocain) and a bear come into the substance, you are in violation of the law. The rule says at "any time", that means not just while hunting, but anytime. So if you have a Game Camera on a Salt lick, or feeder and you get a picture of a bear on your attractant you are in violation, and you just provided proof (the picture) that you are guilty... A G&F officer I ran into a year ago made it very clear to me, that if a bear came into a salt lick you could not shoot it. -

Anyone seeing bears in the pears yet in 22??
-
I coppied this from the AZGFD 2008 Hunting Regulations. Posting Signs The U.S. Forest Service would like to remind you that posting or erecting any unauthorized paper notice, sign or similar matter on lands administered by the U.S. Forest Service is a violation of the Code of Federal Regulations. A couple of years ago in unit 27, I found the same paper note on 4 differnt water holes saying that some guy would be hunting there. He left his first name and phone number. I reported it to the local FS law enforcement agent. This agent said this was becoming a huge problem. The law enforcement agent called the guy and asked him which stand he would be hunting opening morning. The guy told him where he would be opening morning, and the FS Law enforcement agent showed up there opening morning and wrote the guy a $350.00 ticket! I have also seen the same thing in unit 22. All you have to do is report it to the FS. If the guy is stupid enough to leave his name or number on the paper note, the FS will have a easy time writing him a $350.00 ticket. Guys, just obey the law, and we can all get along!

just wondering, since most of the pears I have seen are just now turning red, and are a week or two from being ripe...

lonely pop-trailers on National Forest land
AZLance replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Just get the license plate and description of the trailer, and call it in to FS law enforcement. I have done this several times, and the FS usally reacts pretty quickly. -
sdrhunter, Are you not calling Redbeard out on a public forum?? sdrhunter wrote: "why do you have to "call" him out on a public form. you could probably ask him yourself either through email, in person, or phone if you really wanted to." Well, sdrhunter, have you e-mailed Redbeard? Have you called Redbeard? Or have you talked to him in person? Follow your own advice!

Redbeard Rocks!! Thank you Redbeard for everything you have given to hunting in AZ. I am proud to call you my friend! I use radios, I use game cameras, I use rangefinders, I have flown in a plane looking for animals, and now my latest toy is a thermal imaging scope made by Raytheon that can see a deer at night over 5 miles away. I can actually count points at 2 miles... But Redbeard, as you know, I am not interested in entering anything in the books. If I was going to enter something into the books, I would follow the record book rules. I, unlike most of the illiterate people who have responded, realize that you were not saying that it was immorale to use my electronic gadgets, it was just against the rules if I planned to enter the animal in the record books. So obviously, no offense taken on my end! I can READ! Viva Redbeard!!! Lifelong AZ hunter, Lance
