The amount of rain we have got this year down in 36B and 35 A/B is above normal. I cant recall seeing it so green in many years. There is water everywhere! Should be great for a late spurt in antler growth!

    bears?

my brother took the picture. The bear was standing 50' off of the road he was walking on. The bear did not run away, just woofed at him and then stood on his hind feet and scratched the pine tree in the picture.
  14. Game and Fish officer, 2 other agency employees fired upon near Mexico border Posted in: News Media Jun 12, 2009Digg this story! Email this article Printer friendly page PHOENIX – Three government agency employees, including an officer with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, another Game and Fish employee, and an employee with Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation, were fired upon yesterday by a group of men they encountered while scouting the area for a land access project in southern Arizona. None of the agency employees were injured. The three were riding all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) on a road through a small canyon area about four miles east of Arivaca Lake when they encountered a group described as at least four Hispanic males dressed in camouflage. According to Leonard Ordway, supervisor for Game and Fish’s Tucson region, two of the individuals in camouflage immediately fled a short distance up a hill and dropped down in the grass upon the encounter, while the agency employees backed out of the immediate vicinity and regrouped. After a few minutes, the Game and Fish officer crept up a small rise a short distance from the road to look over the scene with binoculars. He observed two other males in camouflage in the area, but in a different direction from the first two. He then started back down the hill to return to the ATVs. “As he started back down to the quads, a gunshot coming from the direction where the first two individuals had fled impacted the ground about 10 feet behind him,” said Ordway. The three agency employees immediately departed the area and notified Game and Fish Radio Dispatch, which in turn notified the Border Patrol, Pima County Sheriff’s Office, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety. About 30-40 law enforcement personnel, aided by three helicopters, were on site within 45 minutes to search the area and investigate the scene. They were not able to find the suspects but did recover several fresh 9mm casings from the area where the initial shot came from, indicating subsequent shots may have been fired as the agency employees were leaving the area. “We’re thankful no one was hurt,” said Game and Fish Director Larry Voyles. “Our law enforcement officers and other field personnel often work in remote areas, and yesterday’s incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that they—and personnel from other agencies—face in areas near the border." Voyles added that Game and Fish is reviewing its operating procedures for employees working in borderland areas.

  19. I just got this e-mail from a good friend of mine... Please pray for my adult son, Chris (age 44). My God will supply all my needs. We were hunting in SE AZ this weekend. Saturday night, we were hiking out in the dark in an area we have not hiked before--where cell phones and walkie talkies don't work. Suddenly, I heard the kind of sound one doesn't want to hear. I called to Chris but no answer. When I got to where he had been, I discovered that he had taken a step off a 30-ft cliff. Finally, my light found him laying motionless down there. In a panic, I asked God to show me a way to get to him crying out to at least let me be with him. God showed me a way. When I got to him, he was "sprawled" and totally unconscious just making a few "gurgling" sounds. He had a serious head injury that was bleeding profusely. I freaked out, as I didn't know what to do. I called upon the name of the LORD to Please show me what to do. Somehow, The Holy Spirit guided me to do some medical things that I had no knowledge of/experience with. He was unconscious for nearly 10 minutes but did come back a little. He had no idea of anything. I didn't want to leave him but knew that his only chance for life was to get him out of there and to a medical facility. I issued a panic prayer to God to keep him alive, show me how to get out of there and find help, show me how to find my way back. I left him at 7:30. Hiking cross country in an area I was not familiar with with no GPS or compass, fighting heavy brush, God's Grace brought me to an occupied cabin at 9:00. The closest Rescue Team was the Portal Fire Department. All volunteers who would come from 16 miles away. They were the first to respond. I confidently told their commander, Walter, that I could take them to him. I gave him my assessment. He called in the Cochise County Sheriff's Rescue Team and the Department of Public Safety Rescue Team who could supply a helicopter. Walter and Jeff with their "portable hospital" (over 50 pounds each--backpacks) followed me back into the darkness. God led me, and we found Chris. I fell on my face and cried out, "Thank You, Jesus! Chris is alive! Thank You, Jesus!" Out there in the forest, in the middle of the night, Jeff found a place for DPS to land the helicopter less than 200 yards from Chris. At about 1:00 a.m., they flew him to Portal where another helicopter waited which took him to University Medical Center in Tucson. Back, spine, neck OK. He has a skull fracture with possible brain damage. He is coherent and recognizes family. The Portal Rescue Team (volunteers), Cochise County Sheriffs Resce Team, DPS are all awesome! I have never witnessed anything like this rescue. I gave you all these details as a testimonty to my God. The Rescue people marvelled at the medical assistance that I had provided and for finding my way in an out (no GPS or Compass) which they showed as just over 1.5 miles each way. They cound not believe that I was not an experienced Search and Rescue EMT. I could not see lights from the cabin I found, but they were partying and making noise, so I had gone toward the sound. Chris had fallen about 30 feet in the dark into jagged rocks, and he lived. That would be like falling straight down from the AC on top of your house. Like the Rescue personnel, I wouldn't believe it either, except I know it wasn't me. God performed a miracle thru me. All I did was put myself in HIS hands, and let HIM work thru me. My God is an awesome God! Please pray for Chris. John

    Hunting accident, need prayer

Update from John.... Thank you all for your prayers. It sure is easy to spot you Bible believers. In fact, as I read your emails, I was overwhelmed. Three or four times I literally buried my face in my hands and sobbed uncontrollably as the reality/immensity of what God had done sunk in and brought me out of my funk. Chris has no broken bones. Amazing! Spine and neck OK. Amazing! All vital signs strong and stable. Head injury closed and no further surgery needed. He was upgraded to ice chips to clear liquids to soup and last night ate a pancake. He does not remember anything about what happened or even that we were hunting. However, he did remember the area and could name land marks. He recognizes all family and wanted hugs and kisses from his wife when she came in (real good sign!). I explained to him that he had fallen off a cliff. Although he does not remember, he did understand. At least, he now knows why he is there. I told him they brought him there in a helicopter. He didn't remember, but we joked about not being able to see the scenery on our first helicopter ride. These are the positives we are holding onto. The downside is that he has no mobility in his left leg nor can he sit up. When he tries, he just rolls to the side. This lack of mobility is neurological. It is being strongly suggested that he be moved as soon as he is able to a rehab center (nursing home). His wife (nurse) wants to believe that she can take care of him. My wife (nurse) says he has to be able to sit up and walk a little with a walker before he can be cared for at home. He is a bad patient and bull headed. He is mad and wants to go home. I suspect that Dad (me) will have to step in and apply some force. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and for the prayer warriors you have contacted who are all praying for him. He is alive, and he has come a long way back in 48 hours. Nothing is impossible with God, and He always has a purpose. Although we cannot always discern His purpose, He does promise that all things work together for good for those who love Christ.
