Drew Unit 27 Upper San Fran River Area for 2011
AZLance replied to cpugsie's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
The San Francisco river canyon is full of sheep. I have been wondering for the past several years why they didn't have a sheep tag in there. When bear hunting in there, we used to see sheep every day. Steep country though... Also saw two full curl rams butting heads a couple of years ago, awesome sight to see and hear, as they were only 90yds away. -

"The Draw" and a new topic....
AZLance replied to Ace High Benny's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
In the last 15 years of guiding a bunch of clients and hunting for myself in AZ I was checked once in 1998, after we had killed our deer and were packing up camp. I rarley see a G&F officer durring a hunt, maybe that is because I am no where near a road. Even when I actually witnessed someone poach a deer, and called it in to opperation game thief, they never showed up! -
Awesome catch! Maybe those kids can teach "Pro kid" a thing or two...

Not a good idea to burn paloverde as it releases smoke that is toxic to humans... This is from the Sonoran Desert Museum web site: "The soft wood makes poor lumber. It is also poor for firewood, burning rapidly while emitting a strong, unpleasant odor, and making no coals."

Bear hunting Sana Rita Mts.
AZLance replied to Thegrayghost's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Since When? See the regulations for General Bear Hunts in the Santa Rita Mountains (34A) Page 21 of the 2011 Spring hunt regulations. AZ Spring Hunt Regulations Mar 18 - Apr 28, 2011 (1,2,3,7) 34A Any bear except sows with cubs 1 They have had this hunt for the past few years... -
After the 4 storms have dumped over 2.5 inches of rain down here in southern AZ, The fireworks are back on for tonight! That is if I can find a dry spot to light them off...

The fire was redoominatley on the south east side of the unit. Basically if you combine the Pena Fire, the Bull fire, the Yanks fire and the Murphy Complex fire, it is just under 100,000 acres in 36B that burned this year. The boundry is the mexican border on the south, Sycamore canyon and bear valley ranch on the west, the gas line on the east and Sardinas peak on the north. The map shows this well... Very little if any of the Buenos Aries burned. Again here is the link to the fire map for 36B this year, it shows all 4 fire that burned down there... My link

How about a first annual Coues Whitetail.com fireworks party...

The AZ Daily Star today had a article that said all burn areas and some areas surrounding the burns in the Coronado NF will remain closed to entry for 1 year. I think it was the forest service spokesman saying this...
