What arrows and size of broad heads ???
AZHUNTER05 replied to Flingingarrowsbro's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I would go with a stiffer arrow! Try the Goldtip velocities (.340's or .300's), they will fly better with your broad heads. -
Pm on the way

You just opened up a can of worms! That being said, I have killed two bulls with rages at 34 and 51 yards. Both shots were pass throughs and died within eye sight. People that are anti mechanicals have either never used one, or blame a bad shot on a mechanical not deploying! I have never seen or had a mechanical broad head not deploy.

Can you remove the head that comes on it? yes, there is some threadlock on it, but it comes off. i made a trail camera mount out of the ball head that came on it. the adapter is 1/4x20 and the head i use is 3/8, so i used a helicoil for the adapter. works great, and fits in the spotting scope tube on my eberlestock That's exactly what I was looking for thx man!

mechanical broadheads success and failures
AZHUNTER05 replied to creed_az_88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I've shot two bulls with the two blade rage, and both bulls died within eye sight. Both pass throughs at 34 and 51 yards with a 364grn arrow. I shot my last bull with a swhacker at 50 yards and it only went 30 yards and piled up. I haven't shot a elk with a gravedigger yet, but I have killed a pig with one and I was very impressed with it. If I was going to shoot one of the three, I would go with the gravedigger hands down. No o-rings, massive cutting surface, and extremely accurate. The swhacker is a close second, but the head of the broad head normally bends after shooting it, making the broad head unusable. Other then that I really like the swhacker. -
I use AAE MAX. It's the best glue I have ever used by far. Clean your arrow shafts with a rough sponge and comet bleach (for dish cleaning) before fletching. Make sure the arrows are completely dry before you start.

I'm posting this for my dad, he's selling his springfield m1a .308. He bought it brand new about a year ago and hasn't shot it very much at all. It comes with a 3x9 weaver scope, a cheek piece, and 300 rounds. He's asking $1600 for the package, but is interested in trades of equal value or trades plus cash. He did not specify on what he was looking for in trade, so make an offer. Located in north Phx and Prescott. Pm if interested. Thx

Well my hunting buddy and I decided we are going to head out of state this year for a DIY OTC elk tag. Neither of us have any experience hunting any state other then Arizona, so we were hoping for some help picking which state to hunt. We originally planned to head up and do a Colorado hunt, but I saw on another thread that Utah had a lot of left over tags this year. So my question to you guys is what state would you pick to hunt and why? We aren't looking for monsters, just wanting to be successful. Thx for the help!

They are awesome, I have one!

WHAT STATE WOULD YOU PICK FOR A OTC ARCHERY ELK HUNT?
AZHUNTER05 replied to AZHUNTER05's topic in Elk Hunting
Thanks for the info guys. Idaho is a little bit further then we would like to go, so we are set on either Utah or Colorado. I'm leaning more towards Utah, because the tags are cheaper and the terrain isn't as steep. I've talked to multiple people about the Colorado hunt and they seem to be 50/50 on wether it's a good idea or bad. Flatlander do you know if any of the southern Utah units are any good? -

Is there a slot limit at Bartlett? I looked at the regs, but couldn't find one.
-
My dad and I heading out to Bartlet lake for the first time ever, in search for some catfish! Was hoping someone might be willing to give me some tips on getting into them. What side of the lake is best, best bait, how deep to fish, and ect. I don't know if these are inappropriate questions to ask or not, but I figured I would give it a shot. Thx

That's a man cave to be proud of!

I got through my first try! That has never happened to me before! It's probably because I didn't get drawn .
