What is this?
Willyhunts2 replied to couesntime's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I get the same thing on my cams in the summer. A lot of bears passing through all times of day and night, and they like to get close to your cam to try to figure out what it is. -
What ever happened to .270 or is that lark to ha

Of course there are people that don't care and will still drive and camp on closed roads. I've seen a lot of it scouting for my elk hunt and most people I talk to say they had no idea that riad is closed. When I try to explain it to them they look at me like I'm speaking Spanish. As far as up north goes there are signs saying road closures in effect but when your already up that far who is going to say well I better call forest service? Just need a good way to get it out to public.

Loss of Bear Hunting Access Due To Extreme Fire Danger
Willyhunts2 replied to lonne's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
The wallow fire was started by hunters? I thought it was started by 2 guys camping or maybe I'm missing something. -

Bear for sure and it looks like your in my spot. Get out! Ha jk -
I think a lot of people don't know about these closures till they are in effect. A lot of people don't know still even after. I know forest service says it's your responsibility to know but maybe there are ways to inform people. Maybe everyone signed up for g and f news letter can get emails on closures. I get emails about closures from game and fish but not all so I have to check the forest service web site to make sure.

Sounds like MAYBE one out of three bears could be involved. Or maybe none of them. They said hair samples from the most recent attack was from a boar. I remember they said Sunday they shot a 150 pound boar and a 300 pound sow. What was the sex of the one shot Saturday?
-
Just got an email that there was a 3rd bear attack and was in ponderosa campground again. It said the person attacked was hurt pretty bad With bad head and face injuries and flown by helicopter to a hospital in the valley. This email was from the fire chief of whispering pines fire distric. Anyone else hear anything more about it?

I started thinking the same thing today. Will this affect the other bear hunts in 22 or will they not even have a archery spring hunt next year? I understand points on both side, just don't understand what game and fish will do in a situation like this when they end up killing three bears while a hunt is going on where a single sow killed will close the hunt. Wonder if they have ever came across a situation like this. This is the first time I've ever heard of three bears being shot and all these attacks like this. According to game and fish, before this there was 3 recorded bear attacks in last 10 years. Could be wrong about that though.

Just saw on the news game and fish shot a boar and sow and sending DNA samples to Wyoming to see if either bear was involved with any of the attacks.

Kind of in same boat. I have a bull tag and ended up taking last week off for the hunt Thursday to Thursday. Just seems like a mad house the first week in years past. So I figured I would rather hunt them After they have been hunted for a week and get rid of some people. Just my thinking though.
-
Kidso that is exactly what I was thinking ha. My tag still needs to be wrapped around a leg. Kind of hard to hunt when all the areas I have been hunting are closed.

I've been hunting around tonto village like always with my spring archery tag and haven't seen a beer yet. Sounds like I need to stick by the camp grounds and communities ha. -
Already thinking about it. They usually out end of July?

The color of that bear is awesome. Hopefully you get at shot at him in august. Best of luck to you, deer and turkey also!

Ha didn't mean to start it this early. Was just looking for date haha!

Nice bear and cool story. Sweet 2 bears came in at same time. On know on my archery spring hunts I spend most of my days staring at water. Congrats!

Tikka T3 scope mounts question
Willyhunts2 replied to AZbowhntr's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Had the same problem and had sportsmans put on rings that didn't fit right. My scope would move back a lot. Took it to bear mountain and was set up with tactical rings that keeps my scope tight without any rail change. have a tikka T3 with a vortex viper 6.5-20x44 and just the rings work for mime -
There was a story about this same kind of thing on the news last night. Just caught the tail end of it.

Just bought the sportsman guide ladder. Haven't used it yet but looks good for the money. 50 bucks after shipping. Only thing I can see wrong with it out of the box is the peices that bolt to the actuall ladder. I can't get the bolt through 2 of them. Will just have to drill it out to make the hole smooth and should be good to go.

Been hiking back some of the closed roads getting to know some new areas for elk hunt only to find camps and quads zipping by me. Probibly be the same in September. People either don't read signs that are on the 87 or don't care. Little of both I'm sure.
