I've had years where it seems like I see elk then cattle move in and they disappear. Then ive had years to where I use the moo cows to my advantage stalking elk being 100 yards apart. I think it depends on how long the cows have been there and how many there are. It seems like if the cows have been there for months I start to see less elk as the hunt comes closer. Maybe if cattle are eating everything around the elk will move a bit. I've seen elk in my spot last 5 times I've been in there and last weekend didn't see a single one so don't get discouraged. I'm sure someone else can give you a better answer or have had more experience with this. Good luck on your hunt!

This morning at Usery archery range. White truck maybe a silverado. Saw the sticker on back window as I was driving out. Full house out there this morning by the time we were leaving ha.

I shot the mossy oak x for 3 or 4 years. One of the limbs cracked and they stopped making them so they sent me a brand new bow madness xs. Same as someone else said about the strings. Never been able to keep them from turning with a tubless peep. Got winners choice string and shoots awesome.

If that's in 22 I got you pinned ha jk. Looks good.

OTC. Probly huntin in 5a cause I have elk hunt in there. Will be a scouting with OTC tags in pocket pretty much. The elk tag is at the top of the list right now. I stopped going to Usery rifle range a while ago. We do the same thing as you, hit the desert.

Guy that put in for leftover on same app as me called yesterday again because my check still hasn't been deposited and the lady said again we got our tag and they are depositing checks every day.

Few years ago we hunted them out of a blind a few hundred yards away from water. All three of us rages out opening day. 2 of us used bloodrunners and did some real damage. My friend had an exit hole on his bird the size of a baseball. Try to find a water hole with a lot of sign then place a blind out of sight from the water to reduce theft and catch them coming or leaving the water. Good luck!

Isn't it illegal to bait in California. I think I remember uncle Ted receiving a ticket after one of his shows aired deer hunting over there. Everything seems to slowly trickle over from our neighbors it seems.
