Would you take a .223 for your wife?
bigorange replied to Ingo's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
If she’s comfortable and proficient shooting the .243 and/or the .260 I’m not sure I understand why this is even a question...go with the .243 if you want to minimize recoil. -
Brave man. LoL

Nice! I don’t know the NM units very well by number, but what part of the state?
-
Good eyes. Can’t make out the date code though...
-
One of these years I’ll give that one a shot...

35a Thanksgiving...back to where our group first started hunting together. One of these knuckleheads still looking to kill his first deer too.

Nice! The lighting make it almost look like fall foliage.

Thanks for posting! Still can’t grasp this whole situation. I have no doubt he’s dancing and hiking the hills now. -
Long Range Fixed Blade Field Point Accuracy
bigorange replied to Coues Archer's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Slick Trick and Whac Em are the 2 that have done best for me. T-loc (not the shuttle) were pretty good too. All seemed to need some tuning though and not perfect. -
I can only find mention that a go fund me was in the works, but no details...is there a link available yet or posted somewhere else that I didn’t see?

100+Yard Shots - What's your approach?
bigorange replied to RimCountry350's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I usually shoot longer ranges the same as shorter ranges...I’ll shoot 3-6 arrows then retrieve and shoot again. The retrieval time is adequate rest for me. For me 10-12” is a pretty good group at 100...I’d never shoot that range at an animal either, but it makes those 60 yd shots seem much shorter. I have a similar setup...a couple years ago I switched to 125grn heads and got better groups at longer range, presumably due to increased FOC. -
I looked at options a while back...it depends on your truck and its bed dimensions. I have a short bed and most of the tank/toolboxes I looked at wouldn’t fit with my hitch.

We took a tangent to talk about Dodge trucks in a TV show. also...I read somewhere that Bone Collector filmed an episode there hunting either deer or elk on the ranch where Yellowstone is filmed.

If it’s not a ballsack it’s like one of those chairs with the butt-shaped indents turned sideways...needs a ballsack indent though.

He keeps giving his prick son opportunities to betray him too.

Funny I was just thinking about when I met him...picked up some obscure ammo from him to deliver to Bill Quimby...first and only time meeting Bill too. 2 good guys right there.

Good luck with the new job. I work from home but picked up some weekend work at a local hospital since my wife’s hours have been cut...every time I go in I worry I might bring it home. Neighbor is an airline pilot and brought it home to his wife and kids...

Saw that on another page and thought that was him. Wow very sad news. RIP brother.

Had a bull tag in 27 right after the Wallow fire...elk and deer all over the usual places. Maybe not a good comparison since they dropped a bunch of barley in there to help. wonder how many of the 2500ish folks who drew 33 tags have watched their planned areas go up in smoke. Hopefully some good monsoon action makes for a good hunt. Someone mentioned the sheep...local news has been running a few pics of them sighted below the fire in several places. Hopefully most of them got out of the way.
