Hunting early archery cow this year...I can only hunt one of the weeks due to work (I know ideally I'd take off plenty of time and hunt both weeks, but it is what it is and I have to deal with it...at least I have a choice of which week I can get vacation time and hunt this year) Wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Looking at solunar information and hunt/fish predictors, the first weekend has the best rating (for what that's worth) but what concerns me most is that the moon is mostly full for most of the second week. I know in the past I've been told the second week is generally better for bulls due to decreased pressure and the rut seems to get going better that week. I know scouting and just getting out there is most important, and I've seen much of the discussion about hunting during full moons but given the choice I'm just curious what others would do... Thanks! Bradley

Will this Aug. be better to me than the past.

You're out there hunting Steve, and enjoying it...and you've had more success around here with your bow than I have so far! Hope this year is more fruitful for you and work doens't keep getting in the way. Maybe we can get out after them together again this year...although I don't know how much I'll be hunting before December this year. Bradley -
Yep....pretty sure it's a freedom of information thing. I got a bunch when I drew archery bull in 27. This year I drew cow and haven't gotten a single solicitation!

Nice video and an awesome buck! Love the silhouette shots..

I recognize that gate...I had to take that one off the hinges one time to get OUT of that land.

4 blade wack ems or 4 blade slick tricks kill elk and fly great. I like to paper tune my bow first with field points, then put on the broadheads and see what happens. They may group a little different than your field points, but paper tuning it first dramatically reduces that. +1 on both...

Only have 3...not expecting to draw anytime soon, but fingers still crossed every year. WY is in my future...

Awesome story and a great experience for your family. Congrats to all!

Well that's pretty good news. Hopefully lots of new growth in those areas.

Early Archery cow in 27...barely. My buddy and I got tags 49 and 50 out of 50.

Agree...I grew up hunting deer in TN (sitting in a tree stand over a corn field...I'll take spot and stalk out here any day over that ) Because there were so many hunters almost every convenience store had a checking station...even small towns had at least one and often more. It was a good system and they weighed the deer and were able to gather other info about the animals harvested. Last I saw, I think TN went to online reporting and no longer requires in-person checking.

Exactly...I don't know how much the archery harvest has grown over time, but last I saw the total muley rifle tag # was 25. So it doesn't take much change for archery to be more than 20%...

I agree it doesn't make much sense in general (at least to me...) to increase general hunt numbers in 34A while at the same time eliminating the December archery hunt. (I actually re-read it to make sure...only the December archery is cancelled. January still open in 34A) Although it does state that the archery change is based on 50% of mule deer harvest in 34A being archery...not whitetail. And the general hunt increase is on whitetail. The general hunt for mule deer in 34A is unchanged (only 25 tags). Bradley

My buddy got hit for $114 so he drew elk. Nothing on mine so no speedgoat for me. My elk group is on another guy's card and havent heard from him so still a glimmer of hope...

I entered but they don't have a category for tag soup!

What are you gunna get this year?
bigorange replied to deserthntr's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
+1 on new tires. Hopefully a new tripod and a FoxPro too... -
Good thing you updated or you'd have been screwed. I read somewhere on the site that specifically said even if you drew a tag and reults were posted it would be void if the credit card didn't go through. That would really suck to get results online only to find out it got rejected.

Does anyone know when the 2012 draw results will be in by?
bigorange replied to couesbowhunter1's topic in Elk Hunting
No later than April 20 according to the AZGFD website...for what that's worth. -
You should have been charged $7.50 at the time of your application. Won't get charged for the tag until after the draw. You're not out yet...at least I hope not since I haven't been charged either.
