You don't see this very often... Banded Dove
bigorange replied to Avid Hunter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
My friend's brother shot one opening weekend near Blythe. These are the first 2 banded doves I've heard of...pretty cool. -
Awesome...great video too. Thanks or sharing. I especially like the video footage of texting and driving or I assume you're actually looking at GPS on phone. Sorry couldn't resist!

Our Cub Scout pack is selling popcorn at the Wal-Mart at Golf Links and Houghton in Tucson today from 12-6. Please stop by and support a good cause...if you're not in town and want to buy some anyway, PM me and I'll send you a link. Online military donation is the way to go. No calories and goes to a good cause.

Gray silverado northbound at Houghton/Irvington in Tucson Friday evening
bigorange posted a topic in Sticker Sightings!
I think you had NM plates... -
I love this time of year...just wish I had a tag. Good luck all and looking forward to the updates and pics soon!

That's a pretty cool starter set for someone just getting into hunting or camping or a family. Maybe even a scout troop. Hopefully someone sees it that needs it.

Yeah but there are several cameras and a blind on that tank already...it's "taken"

All over that one already...strapping that bad boy on the hood of the tram for a ride down the canyon! -
What's your favorite dove ammo so far this year?
bigorange replied to Scooter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Rocks in the backyard is all I've been slinging at 'em this year so far. I usually shoot the Estate or whatever is on sale...I can miss with whatever ammo you give me. Heck I picked up some boxes of Federal from my dad last summer that are probably 20 years old and those are shooting just fine too! I did take a rather humbling shot at a sitting Gambel's quail with my 9mm last year. Couldn't resist even though I know it wasn't a legal method of take. Quail was in season at least and not in the air so the shot was safe. Yeah...I missed. -
I agree with speedygoss here and not even sure what the rules are exactly regarding this...is there an actual rule or is it an "unwritten rule" that can easily turn into an issue of "forum cops" as mentioned above? I think (and I've been wrong before..so someone please correct me) that the intent of such a rule would be to prevent blatant advertisement on the site by the company without being a sponsor. I agree if something works or doesn't work I want to hear about it from others...sponsor or not. If those others are friends or family of the inventor, so be it. As long as it's not blatant advertising for sake of advertising...which I honestly haven't seen in the past couple years with Swhacker. What I've seen and noticed doesn't seem to be advertisement as much as responding to specific questions about what works and doesn't work and why...or what was used in a particular hunt. Sure some of it was info based on what happened in testing of the product before it was widely marketed and bought by Hank Parker's company. Maybe it's the local ties of the inventor that cause more attention for Swhacker...I don't know. Heck PSE is local too...should we not mention them in any discussions about preferred bows or latest equipment? I guess I shouldn't have started this thread http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/30163-cool-new-gadget-by-a-local-company/ about a gadget by a local company under the same rules...although I did talk to the company about becoming a sponsor and mentioned that in the thread. By no means was I advertising...I just wanted to let folks know about the product who might be interested. AZLance is spot on too...I think I see more posts about Remington, Swarovski, Vortex, and all kinds of other products who aren't sponsors. Rage, G5, and Muzzy seem to always come up in any broadhead discussion. Heck lately I think I've seen as many posts about Mossback and GSO (although maybe not so positive)...are they sponsors? I don't know... Speaking of sponsors, maybe I should contact Apple. It just occurred to me that my ipad is probably going to make this one long run-on paragraph even though I spaced it out nicely for easier reading. Maybe not...we'll see. (yep...run-on paragraph the first time using "fast reply" trying again with "full reply"...looks good in preview!) Just my 2 cents here...someone point me in the right direction if I'm off-base. Nothing against the original post or TJ either...I understand exactly where you're coming from, just not sure how clear the rules are and how well-known.

Unit 33 Hot Spots and Honey Holes!
bigorange replied to bigorange's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Awesome...thanks! I'll be glassing there from the top of the Rincons. They even have trail cam photos in the visitors center that I've been using for scouting. I can probably see Saguaro West from the Tucson Mountains too...sweet! Thanks for all the tips and glad to see there's still a sense of humor out there! I already gave away my top hotspot just west of the Baboquivaris, but I guess I could share it with a couple of others as long as you promise to coordinate and not hunt on top of each other. -
I've heard of a few friends doing this...but usually someone's dad or parents that can no longer hunt or no longer want to hunt, but like to come along and spend time in camp. It's a great setup if you find the right person...

Fun game with the family. Didn't expect to be sitting in the rain at a Wildcats game. Almost like a football game back east.
-
Awesome...congrats! And how dare you shoot one without its winter coat? Blasphemy!
-
How close is that to Area 51?
-
Yeah he's a jerk...but you did the right thing. Good job.

Welcome to AZ...I grew up hunting in TN, so similar background. AZ hunting is a lot different and takes a little getting used to, but I've grown to prefer glassing and spot n stalk over the typical treestand hunting in the south. No recommendations on a group of hunters, but hopefully you find someone on here...always more fun to scout and hunt with others. I had a friend with this tag a couple years ago and he said it was a tough hunt. Most of the areas I know have a lot of mule deer. Not sure on whitetail. I've always heard access is a tough issue for whitetail hunting in 34b. Start here on the azgfd site and might try to contact one of the wildlife managers in the unit. I ran into one in Jan during archery and he was surveying whitetails, so I'm sure he can tell you some good starting points and access issues. http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/hunting_units_34b.shtml Good luck and again welcome to AZ and CWT!

+1 huge props for doing this...just one of the many reasons I love this site! -
Thanks Tony for boiling it down just the facts. And speaking of boiling...if you need some tag soup recipes, I've become quite the tag chef the past couple years!
