A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FELLOW CW MEMBERS IF I COULD!!!!!!
bigorange replied to buffhunter's topic in The Campfire
Done! Good luck! -
Great comments so far...agree with the consensus of taking whichever one you shoot the most accurately. I shoot a .270 but that's my only choice. Any of your choices would do great, but MIT lean more toward the .270 or .300 as flatter shooting. But again, whatever you can shoot the best groups at 500. Good luck on your hunt...hopefully you can replace that ugly avatar with a nice picture of a buck! Just kidding...nice to see some more SEC blood out west. Hunting here is definitely different than in the south, but I enjoy it a whole lot more.

Thanks and excellent advice from Jim. I glassed him up on a leftover hunt a couple years ago.

Leftover hunts are terrible...you should never try a leftover hunt. Especially down south. Worst. Hunts. Ever. In truth, all the hunts I've done have either been leftover hunts or I drew a hunt that ended up having leftovers. Have had great hunts and even a little bit of success. Of course I live pretty close to some decent southern leftover units. Shifted my approach this year and actually drew something that doesn't usually have leftovers...still waiting to find out where we'll be this year! Come on Kaibab!

Wow...nice work and nice looking garage! It would be worth it to force myself to clean out the garage.

Great thread...I think the two strongest statements were that the trophy is in the eye of the beholder (more importantly the tagholder) and no matter what you're after, do what makes you happy. Mr Quimby and 2 Full Curls describe very well the stages of hunting that are taught in most hunter education programs and boils down to the same thing...it's what is most important to you at the time of your hunting life. I like to think I'm in a later stage and not only chasing the size of the antler, but I think I'm actually in the first stage since I took about 15 years off hunting during college and early working career. Now my goal is "any antlered deer" due to the long dry spell with a rifle and never having connected with a bow, but I do really enjoy the spirit of the hunt and just being out in the hills with my hunting buddies and it's not even about the kill for me anymore. When I first started hunting as a teenager all I wanted to do was kill anything and everything, so have definitely grown beyond that mindset. Thanks for posting this thread...it's an interesting read.

Haven't noticed this posted here already...this was sent out today by Desert Archers. I believe the address should be Harrison. Next to the rifle range behind the fairgrounds. Good news. The new range located at Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range (11296 S. Harris Road) is NOW OPEN. All range users are personally responsible for range safety and safe shooting. No shooting or drawing a bow is permitted while archers are down range. 6. That's the only time I've been hunting with someone that saw a cat and I still couldn't spot it! Good eyes Steve...

www.smartscouter.com I have no personal experience with these, but a friend uses them and likes them. He forwarded an email that shows they have a Fathers Day sale through 6/21 almost 50% off. You have to call to get the deal I guess. -
we love the JW Marriott Star Pass if you can find a good deal...take the family there almost every summer for a staycation to play in the lazy river and water slide. I checked rates there in late Aug for a friend and didn't find anything good...hopefully you'll have better luck.

Excellent...I'll be in touch once I get an idea on size and color...thanks!

+1 that place catches my eye every time I drive by...have heard great things about them and their selection.

And of course if you can get that Power T in the right shade of Tennessee Big Orange I'll buy a few of those!

Looking good...I'll connect with you on the Buck Commander logo, although all I want is the deer head. Here's what I had on my old truck...need to decide what color decal for the new truck.
