I've heard good stuff on the cabelas model. I have a Traeger and love it.

I wouldn't hesitate to hunt right there, but I wouldn't use the stand for reasons already listed. If you like the spot put up your own stand...

This. When I checked in my 12a deer one of the questions asked was how many elk I saw...I laughed and said zero. Was told they don't want elk there, but at the time didn't seem to be doing anything about it except asking numbers.

Cabelas has a clone for $599 I think. Very happy with my Traeger but I got a second-hand deal from a friend and didn't pay nearly full price. I need to do a lot more with it than I have so far.

Following this...haven't tried brisket on my Traeger yet...

Watched a calf get hung up in 27 a few yrs ago. Really freaked out and thrashing around. My buddy and I were figuring out how to help it get loose when it got free on its own. Definitely looked like a bad way to go.

Agree...no military land near there. I saw UofA experimental range too...on or near there, thought to have started next to a road.

My buddy was in 6a. Said they never got any closer than 50yds although they were responding to calls.

I saw a report it made it to 83 and had jumped the highway. Lots of dry grass in that area.

Any reports from youth camps? Have a buddy at 6a camp with his daughter but haven't heard anything...

Awesome stuff. Congrats. I have several stories like that with birds going crazy on roost, but they always end with hearing the gobbler fly down and not a peep again until he's 1/4 mile away.
