    Late Kaibab and Strip

Bob you and your dad will be in my prayers. Sorry you have to go through that, but glad you can be there for him. Those old farts can be really tough though...maybe he’ll surprise you with a couple more years.

    Wine barrel fire pits

Very cool idea...I know some Jack Daniel fans who’d probably be all over those if they were Jack barrels.

    Wild Game Processing-Tucson

Same info here. My buddy got turned away with his daughter’s deer from youth hunt. I won’t take another deer to Dickman’s either, so I’m not sure there’s any other game in town. He did end up doing a lot of it himself, but not sure if he was able to get a hold of a grinder or not.

    License Convenience Fee

Yeah that will be interesting to see how print at home plays out. I believe TN went to this as well, but haven’t heard how it worked out there.

Dodge 2500 Tires and Aluminum Wheels

Wow that is a great find on the truck...and a nice deal on wheels and tires for someone else. Free bump.

    License Convenience Fee

Any idea what the previous commission on tags was? I’m guessing that was part of the tag fee before...so AZGFD didn’t raise the price but is getting more $$ by not paying the commission. Now up to the seller to charge their own extra fee. But yeah it’s worth $2 to me to not drive 30min to AZGFD office.

Some really nice bucks. Congrats to all and glad to see pics from Bob...glad your hunt went well other than getting sick.
  16. Not great timing with archery deer season approaching, but the shade structure will be a welcome improvement. http://webcms.pima.gov/government/natural_resources_parks_and_recreation/shooting_sports/ Southeast Regional Park Archery Range is under construction to have a Firing Line Shade Canopy and Bench Seating installed causing the need for range closure. The construction closure will run through December 6th. Subsequently, on December 7th through 9th, there will a National Archery in Schools Program State Shoot held at the Archery Range, and thus the range will be closed to non-participant public archery shooting. On Thursday, December 13th, we will reopen the archery range to regular public shooting, and you will have a nice shade canopy to shoot under and seating amenities to relax on. Thank you.
  17. Yeah I agree. Much needed improvement, just not great timing right before deer season.

Northerner heading South in January (recap)

Depending on the areas there can be a lot of vegetation too, just different vegetation than what you see up higher. A lot more scrub trees, brush, and cacti/ocotillos.

Northerner heading South in January (recap)

I’m not terribly familiar with 27 below the rim. Most of 27 I’ve hunted is up higher. Lots of opportunities for glassing in the desert areas. Definitely not too flat. I haven’t hunted mulies much outside the southern units besides Kaibab, but when they’re rutting in the desert they’re very glassable and lots of fun to spot n stalk.

Northerner heading South in January (recap)

I’d personally head further south...33 or any of the border units. I’m a little biased living in Tucson though. Desert mulies rutting in January are a blast.

    Hunters n Ranchers

I should add that I grew up hunting my uncle’s farm in TN...he had lots of issues with folks hunting without permission so I’ve seen the other side as well. Between our family and his neighbors and friends who also hunted his land we had lots of eyes out there during every season though.

    Hunters n Ranchers

Agree. Respect goes a long, long way. What I often find in AZ is ranchers who don’t own the land, but lease grazing rights then treat it like private property. I’ve never really looked into it very deeply and just assumed they were in the right by posting the land. OnX app has helped a lot at least for knowing who owns the property though.

16 years ago my life changed

Good stuff man. You’re doing it right. Mine is 11 going on 16 soon enough, so I’m right there with you. I pray every day we stay as close through the teen years as we are now.
