Well I guess I am a sally cause there ain't no way in heck I am packing out a whole or even gutted coues deer from the places where we find those little buggers. I skin, quarter and bone them. I leave the hide on the head and let my taxi take care of that, cause I hate doing it. I can't remember the last animal that we were able to pack out whole.

Using 2-way radios while hunting. Legal, ethical or what?
Flatlander replied to Whitesheep's topic in The Campfire
We sat on the top of Porter Mt. with G&F and had radio communication between myself, my dad, and my little brother while he stalked and shot his first bull elk several years ago. I know that what G&F participates in does not necessarily mean that something is legal, especially in 3B -
Just put one in the bulk trash last month. Sorry dude.

I worked up the desert sheep draw odds for Lv2hnt, so if anyone would like a little info before turning in their app feel free to give me a shout. For all those new to the game, if you have less than 10 points your odds are 0 to <1% regardless of unit.

Well I am an estimator for a large General Contractor and that's pretty sweet, but it doesn't take me to MT. My family hails from those parts so we always go up for a week during the summer. We attend church with my Grandpa there and have since we were kids. I said goodbye to my Grandma and my cousin in that little white chapel and I feel as home there as I do anywhere on Earth.

Good for you TJ. The good ones are tough to let go . . .

When I am in AZ its the LDS Lindsey Ward (right up the street from Vowell), and when I am in MT its the United Methodist church in Townsend.

Sweet Devil Tines!!! Nice camera work Doug.

Wishful thinking. It takes a solid two weeks to get the site up after cc hits start. But usually there is a full week of cc's so all you guys who think you are out of luck may still have a chance. Good luck to all.

Wow. Is there a full moon out or something?

With the length of those cutters and all that mass, I say that buck is upper 80's. I could be wrong, goats a re tough to score.

Newbie for coues needing a little help
Flatlander replied to cvitech2's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
37B had a bad case of ungulate meningitis go through the deer herd this year. They are all dead. I would not apply for this unit. -
I got hit for two deer tags, which was expected, but for some reason my sheep charge hasn't shown up yet. Hmmm . . . I wonder whats up with that?

Any other lucky 23N Early Archery Bull tag Holders here?
Flatlander replied to bonecollector777's topic in Elk Hunting
Dude killing a 295 bull on a late hunt is equal to killing a 350 bull on an early hunt in my eyes. Props to you! -
Getting ready to board a plane to San Francisco for three days and all I can think is man, I should be setting cameras. Its our first trip without the kids and I was way more excited to go to Holbrook last weekend and shoot my bow than I am to eat chowder and browse the 'Embarcadero'. Oh well, next trip is to MT for a week, that will make up for it.

This ones been tough for me. Seeing those guys and the pictures of their kids and wives tears me up. I have shed more than a few tears thinking about them. As a kid I always wanted to be a hot shot, my dad and uncles all fought fire growing up in Yellowstone and I read Young Men and Fire when I was 13. I gave up on my dream when I got married and settled into an office. I am jealous of those guys, their passion and the way they lived their lives. I guess it hurts cause I know they were more man than I, and paid for it. God bless them, their families and their comrades.

Well I am back. It was a fun trip, no my plane did not crash (luckily I wasn't flying to or from Korea). I will post up some pics, needless to say, the 49ers locker room at candlestick was the highlight of my trip and enarly my life, right behind taking my first coues and the birth of my kids. -
But if you ask the experts from LA and NY they will tell you that means success. See the deer and elk were eating all the trees, so now the trees are doing better. . . but oh wait half of them burned down because we couldn't log so . . .

Correct. No need to update.

Holy mother of vegetables!!! I am going to have to take a cold shower after that pic.

Here is a little info I posted on the Diamond Infinite Edge. This bow is the way to go, its the most adjustable bow ever made and is as smooth as just about anything out there. Can't go wrong. My wife had never shot an arrow in her life, 30 minutes with this thing and she couldn't get enough. Great bow. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/41166-ultimate-kids-bow-infinite-edge/

Thanks guys. The two bucks on the right are mine and the one on the left is my little brothers. Both of my deer were done by Dustin Fish at Badlands Custom Taxidermy/Desert Country Archery in Holbrook. He also has my bear from last year. I am going to try and take a break this year and shoot something I can do european. The past couple of years I feel like I have been putting Dustin's kids through college with all the money I have paid him.

Picked up the buck I took in October from the taxidermist this weekend. I think he did a great job. I have always wanted a wall pedestal and I really like it, but I may have to find a different place to hang it to take full advantage of the pose. Here is a pic of this mount with the other coues in the man cave.

I am not, although I am in construction and do solar projects. Trying as hard as possible not to work at all this weekend though. Saw a wild (feral) Parrot today. That was my goal for the weekend, see a parrot, guess we can go home now . . . -
I fear for these animals safety after the year you had in 2012. Got a feeling the days are numbered for a few of them. Good luck!
