A friend of mine that sent me the picture told me the score, but I can't remember exactly what it was. I do know it is over 200 inches. David

Spotting Scope...so many to choose from.

I very seldom use my 60x. When I do, it is still early when the heat waves aren't affecting the view. I did go with the 80 objective though. It really seems to gather alot of light in the morning and evening. David

    Doves?

Did anybody get out north of the carefree highway towards Lake Pleasant? Were they flying very well? I know they have been doing construction, but I haven't had a chance to get out and scout. David

Spotting Scope...so many to choose from.

Nikon has a 25 year no fault warranty. It doesn't matter how they were damaged. Just send them back with ten dollars and they will fix or replace them. I have yet to meet anybody that has owned the optics for more than 15 years, so I think 25 is enough. Bass, good choice on the glass. David
  7. Good luck Jimmy. Just remember, if you have a grizzly chasing you, Bret is smaller and a little more tender so he will probably go after him. David

Spotting Scope...so many to choose from.

I did alot of my research on this website and then went down and checked different scopes several times before I made a decision. The eyepiece on mine was the deciding factor when I made my purchase. It was very comfortable compared to some of the other ones. David http://www.birdforum.net/forumdisplay.php?f=286

    New setup

Let me know how the camera adaptor works out for you. I have been thinking about getting one for my scope. David
  10. Very nice bear. I can't believe the size of his feet. I have been trying for years now to take a bear, hopefully in October I can give it a try again. I have one located, but he doesn't want to show up for the date. Get that sucker full body mounted. David

    Fall is here!!!

Redbeard, The elk are knocking my cameras off of the trees. I think maybe there is a smell on there that they don't like. Last weekend I had three cameras on the ground. David

    opinions on 20-60x80 leupold sequoia

Stick with the Nikon, it has the better glass and the best warranty. I think the new Cabelas has the Nikon on sale right now for a pretty good deal. David

    Tripods for spotting scopes

I have the same scope and use the Manfretto 3001BN. Its a little long, but you don't have to extend the legs much when you sit down. You can buy them online cheaper than here in the valley. David

    Unit 23 bear

I decided to run back out there Tuesday night and hunt in the morning. My bear was back in the same area again, only this time he proceded to tear up my trail camera. I got some pics, but they were either over exposed or blurry before he ripped it off of the tree. I must have just missed him in the morning, because I could see where he had walked throught the wet grass. Looks like I will be back in there in October. David

    travel trailers

I left mine out twice last year. Once right before my elk hunt and the second time it was parked right off of 260 in 6a for about five days. I put some LED lights inside that run off of batteries. One of them lights up the trailer and the other blinks red. Nobody touched anything while I was gone. Make sure you leave the awning out and a couple chairs so it looks like somebody is there. David

    spotting scopes

I prefer the angled myself. Nikon carries a 25 year no fault warranty. If you run it over with your truck, send it back and they will fix it or replace it. All of the top players have good glass, some just spend more on advertising and putting there optics into the hands of big boy guides. Look through all of them and don't forget to make sure the eyepiece is comfortable to your eye socket. If you plan on digiscoping, Nikon has a nice set up. David

    PUSHIN' 90"

That thing is a toad. He sure looks bigger than 90. I sent the pictures out to some other guys and see what they can come up with. Great find, I am sure you will be getting alot of PM's. David

    Unit 23 Skull

I have a whitetail located in 23 that also has the double beams. He is a real big 4x4. I have seen him twice now and I will try to get a picture of him in a couple weeks. David

    spotting scopes

Take a close look at the Nikon line before you buy a scope. I went through this last year when I was buying a new pair of binos. I had my mind set on Swaros, but finally decided to give the Nikon LX's a chance. When I did a comparison between the two, I noticed that the Nikons were a little brighter and felt better in my hand. I bought those instead of the Swaros. I also have the Swaro ATS 80 and like it alot. I wish I could have compared the two spotting scopes at the time of purchase. David

    Developing Loads

I worked up some loads years ago for my 300 win mag and they are deadly accurate out of my Browning A-Bolt Stalker with the Boss system. You can give them a try and see how they work with your gun. They are a little hot, so make sure you have a good recoil pad. Velocity coming out of the barrel is 3250fps. I am using Remington cases and loading them up with 72 grains of IMR 4350 and topping them off with Sierra Boattail 165 Grain bullets. You might want to try loading 5 each with a little more or a little less and see how your gun likes them. I can't remember the overall length of the bullet, but I know they just barely make it into my clip. Clean out the barrel really good and then shoot two foulers and start from there. I hope this helps you out. David

Maybe I'll give it a try

billrquimby, I have a quick question. I am using a Marlin 1894 .44 mag with 240 grain flat nose bullets on my bear hunt. I doubt the shot will be more than 30 yards with the type of terrain I am in. Do you think this is sufficient to kill a bear cleanly? I have other guns I could use, but I really wanted to shoot one with my lever action. I also have a model 336 in 30-30 that I can bring along. David
  22. Here is a closer pic of the two point. Every deer I have seen lately is still in velvet. Look how fat the one is on the right. David
  23. Finally got a picture of the bear I thought I located last weekend. I had several coues on my cameras, but not the big boy I saw twice this weekend while sitting in my blind. My digital camera makes to much noise when you turn it on to get any pics. I also had two of my trail cameras knock off of the trees by elk. They don't like the smell I guess. David
  24. The second pic is from the bear rubbing up against the tree I had my camera mounted to. The fourth is a nose of an elk. The last couple pics were taken from one of my cameras that was knocked to the ground, but still kept taking pictures. David
  25. Here are some pics from this past week. I was hoping to have a fat bear on some of my cameras, but mostly got elk. I did find where a bear is hanging out. I hope I can find him Friday morning. David Here is a little buck that seems to have some mass on him. Look at the time this coyote came through. The animals in this area don't seem to have any set schedule. They have been at my cameras at all times of the day and night. Elk
