I have been warned to watch out for that barbed wire with my new pup. I am dreading the day he trys to shoot underneath. Good luck with the recovery. David

Now we can't do anymore short jokes, or feed him to the bears type of talk. I will see you this week Bret. David

I also have the 2800 and love it. You can carry a ton of weight all day with no problem. I even ripped it last year while it was riding on the back of my quad. I sent it back and then fixed it with no questions asked. David

Range Finder w/Angle Range Compensation
azhuntnut replied to ghost hunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I took a look through those at Cabelas and noticed that they were off by a yard or two. I tried this on a straight shot, not angled. Plus, those units have a downside, you have to calibrate them before you use them. If drop them while you are hunting, you have to recalibrate it again and it is no easy task. David -
Crown King trail
azhuntnut replied to azhuntnut's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
They are priced right and will go just about anywhere with the right gears. I picked this one up for $1000.00 and I think I spent another 3k building it. You can't even buy rusted jeep for 2500 k. I was going to buy a Ranger, but decided to have some fun and build this little sucker. It isn't much wider and I can haul a ton a crap in the back or take my two boys with me hunting and fishing, plus momma can ride in the front. It only weighs about 2100 lbs and can be towed behind my fifth wheel with no problem. David -
I took a little trip upto the Crown King area today to try and get any kinks I might have in the Samurai. I sure was nice weather for a drive today. I went out with about 12-15 other guys who own Zuks and tried some of the obstacles. Something I found out real quick is that I need to change the transfercase gears to a lower gear set. I just didn't have enough power(66HP) to make it up the hard hills. On the second hill I knew I wasn't going to make it and decided to back down. I was slowly coming down and then all of the sudden she rolled over on the side. I had a video camera running inside and got some good video. Here are some of the pics I lifted off of the video and some stills afterwards posing for the camera. I didn't see any wildlife, but had a good time. David

I just picked up a Browning 7mm a bolt stainless stalker with the BOSS system. I had been looking for one for some years now that I could build into a loooong range gun. You can make your own loads with lightweight bullets to really reach out there, or load them heavy for larger deer or elk. Take a look at the Browning with the BOSS system. With this you can tune the barrel to whatever bullet you are using. I already have one in 300 win mag and it is a tack driver. This is my third a-bolt and I have had good luck with all of them. Check out all of these different bullets available for reloading. You can also pick up a wealth of knowledge of this reloading forum. Beautiful bear for sure. I have been hunting in 31 for years without even seeing one, but is has always been during the spring hunt. They need to add a couple extra weeks to that hunt. Did you see any other bears besides this one? I have heard there are alot of bears in that unit moving around during this time of year. Congrats on a great bear. David

You shouldn't have any problems finding any bears with Dan. He is a super nice guy and very helpful. Tell him David said hi. David

I actually warrantied one pair of the Danners within a year. The pair they sent out to me said that they could not be warrantied if there were any problems since the other pair only had about a month left on the warranty. These lasted about 10 months before the leaking started and one seam ripped. I will say though that I put a ton of miles on my boots in the desert and high country. They have been the most comfortable pair of boots I have had so far, but I would like to get a little more use out of a pair of boots. I have tried all of the others except Cabelas. I guess I will give them a try and see what happens. David

Nice moose Jimmy. As long as you keep hunting, Bret is always going to have a job doing your mounts. He is going to be busy this year. David

"possible" New World Record Elk
azhuntnut replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I can't say if it is photoshop or not, but if you look at the right side of the antlers, they are starting to grow in the same direction as the left side. This just might be a real bull. David -
I used to train these guys. David http://www.break.com/index/ultra_accurate.html

I have to anchor under my chin since I draw with a right handed bow and shoot with my left eye. I am blind in my right eye, so I had to figure out how to shoot backasswords. I use a release and let it stretch under my chin. I have not had any problems with accuracy or sticking animals. David

Looks like a proud papa to me. Great looking bull also. David

I noticed you are keeping an eye on my bear. Great pics as usual. David

Hey Dan, how have you been? I am thinking about heading back over to your neck of the woods and try to find a lion. Shoot me an email and let me know if you might be up for a camping trip in October. What did those sheds score that you are holding? David

You could also look at the new Nikon Monarch 12x56 for a little over $400.00. David

They are usually pretty thick around Flagstaff during the archery hunt. They were near my camp four years ago playing drums all night. Come morning when they finally went to sleep in there sleeping bags scattered around an area, I drove my quad right through there area. Its funny seeing all of those suckers popping out of there bags. I will be up there this year helping on a hunt, so I will have a little more time to bother them. David -
I built a rack on the back of my quad with two removeable brackets that hold my hard case. I can hold my rifle or bow case. I don't road hunt, so I am not worried about getting my weapon out of the case fast. David
