It looks like that bull was shot and then fell over backwards and died that way. I have never thought about hitting those deep canyons when looking for sheds, but I guess it would be worth it from now on. It amazing how many big elk are using that area. David

Check out this PSE X force. David

They look like the same kind I saw behind Fort Grant about two years ago while hunting for bear. I saw about twenty birds. David

That is a great find for sure. Are the Arizona Gould's turkey only located in certain parts of the state? David

I am in the same boat as you. I also own the PSE primos and have good luck with it, but I am ready for another one. I shot the new bowtech gaurdian last Sunday and was very impressed. It was set at sixty pounds and pushed a 300 grain arrow at 305fps while still carrying over 70 pounds of kinetic energy. I also shot the Tribute. This is a very nice bow also. I went down and checked out the PSE mach x today and was told it is blazing fast, but has alot of hand shock. I am waiting for the Ross Cardiac to show up and the Bowtech Commander so I can shoot both of them before I make up my mind. David

Yes, it was the 4bn hunt. I would only take another one of these hunts if it was at the end of the year. David

I got a call from game and fish again telling me I got drawn again for the supplemental elk tag in the same unit. I guess I was number seven on the list last time, and number four this time. I think I am going to go buy a lottery ticket. I told them to make sure my name gets drawn on the regular draw. She told me my name gets put back in the pot if I didn't shoot an elk on my last hunt. I went on a whitetail hunt in unit 32 back in 1992. We would park the truck and start the long walk to our hunting area. I would always see muleys on the way in and then as we got higher it would turn to whitetail. I hunted there again in 94 and saw that the whitetail had moved down almost a half mile of terrain. Then in 2000 I helped a buddy in the same area. The whitetail were actually mixed in with the muleys now and were starting to work out onto the flats. In 2002 I headed back for some more fun and found out that most of the muleys had completely moved out of the area and the whitetail had taken over the territory. We were now seeing them way out on the flats in the greasewoods. I spoke with a friend of mine that is a fourth generation hunter in that area, and he told me that they never saw whitetail in this hunting spot until the 70's. They have seen cross breeding of the deer where the whitetail breed the muleys. I think they are a much more aggresive deer and might be a little more whiley to keep from getting killed by the lions as much as the muleys. They keep moving higher into the state. I have them near my property up in East Clear Creek area. In a couple more years I think they will be up in Walnut Canyon area. David

Not worth a dang. It was kind of like walking along the Gila River with all of the Salt Cedar and Tamarack. I had one rancher tell me to hunt his field while sitting next to his barn, but that didn't sound to appealing to me. I heard that only one cow was shot out of eight tags and it took the hunter three weekends to get her. David

This is one of the bows I won at the ABA banquet. It is a PSE Litespeed manufactured in 3-06. Axle length is 31 inches with an 8in. brace height. It is set up for a 29in draw, but can be adjusted from 25-30 by changed the modulars. It has the high performance NRG one cam, and has an 80% let off, but can be adjusted down to 65%. You can see in the picture that the warranty papers still attached, and never fired. I am going to let it go for $150.00, which I think is a great deal on a new bow. I also have the box if you want to give it as a gift. David

I personally have the Swaro ATS 80 and really like it. I tried the straight and angled, and preferred the angled. When I was looking at scopes I wanted to look at the Nikons, but I couldn't find anybody at the time who carried them. I currently have three pairs of Nikons binos including the high end LXL's and I think you would find it hard to tell the difference between the clarity of the LXL's and the Swaros. Go down to sportsmans warehouse and have them set up three different scopes for you and see which eyepiece feels the most comfortable and which glass works the best for you. Try to do this in the evening when the sun is going down. David

Sold to Gamehauler. I hope you enjoy it. David

I also like to use the Primos brand calls. I have had real good luck using the Hoochie Mama in conjunction with the Hot Lips. I make myself sound like a entire herd feeding and then throw in the Hot Lips to get the bull to come in. To locate the bulls in the morning I like to use the Pack Bugle and try to sound like a young bull with a short bugle. By giving a short bugle, it gives you time to hear the bull respond and usually won't scare him off if he thinks you are a youngin. Carry the Hoochie Mama with you at all times and give a call while you a walking to imitate a herd walking through the forrest. David

I guess my skin is getting a little thin these days. Waiting for the draw results will do that to a fella. David

I also talked to a friend this morning that has somebody in the office and was told the apps were way down. I certainly hope this is true, I guess we will see. David

Well since I already own the Swaro ATS 80 and a pair of the Nikon LX's, I really don't need another pair. I would just like to win them. Its alot more exciting to gamble with your money than just give it to somebody behind a counter. And let me guess, you must own a Mathews. I could care less which bow I am buying. I have shot the Gaurdian and it is a great bow. Most people should know by now, its not the bow you shoot, but how well the person can shoot it. But like you said, it is none of your business what I do with my money. David
-
No, but I want to sell the ones I won so I can buy a Bowtech. I was only two numbers off on the Swaro package . With all of the money I have spent on Swaro raffles in the last five years, I could have bought some nice binos. David

No, it was a bucket raffle. You can see by the sticker that it is a 70 lb bow. David

Northeast of you guys about two tables. The table the kept bringing the prizes to . David

We had a great time also. We ended up winning two bows, muley frame picture, az ez fletch, and a quiver. Everything went real smooth and the dinner was pretty good. I wish there were some games to play though. David

I was over on the San Carlos last weekend and met a rancher that had about six dogs hanging around his ranch. He told me that they don't feed them and the dogs go out and take down animals so they can eat. He told me that just the day before, one of them had killed a javelina. There wasn't a mark on the dog. He even said that sometimes they will take down one of there calfs when they get real hungry. I guess when you get a group of canines together, they can do just about anything. Three of the dogs on the ranch were friendly and would come right up to you. They even had a little hound in them and would chase mountain lions off of the ranch and run the cats for a while. David

Any More Cool Trail Cam Pics

Those thirds are super nice. Can you imagine if his firsts and seconds matched. That would be a huge bull. Do you have any side shots of him? David -
I wouldn't say I am an expert, but my last five trucks have been lifted. I have had straight axle as well as the IFS suspension. I used Pro Comp, Rancho, RCD, and the leveling keys. I have built two custom offroad vehicles using various custom lift springs. I also do the outside sales for Offroad Unlimited. I could help out if you could give me the type of truck you drive and exactly what size tire you are trying to get on it. Let me know if it is 1/2 or 3/4ton. David
