Man you had me pretty nervous when you said there was a fire in there. My place is only about 500 yards from the forest. My buddy has a cabin that borders that canyon. He said his neighbor saw the lightning hit and made the call. Great pics. David

I was able to get a few pics this weekend. The one I was looking for eluding me this time. These guys have been hanging with him. The pic I took through my spotting scope (which sucks) was of a real nice bull. His first three points are anywhere from 16-18 inches. His fourths are pretty good so far, but his back end still needs a little more length. I found a place on Saturday afternoon where a large group of elk were feeding at night. I camped close to them that night and had the pleasure of listening to them call most of the night. Some smaller bulls were bugling also. When I woke up this morning, I had some within fifty yards of me. The entire herd was close to 80 head with about five of them being spikes. There were a ton of young ones. David

Terry, I called Mark to tell him he won the tag, and of course he thought I was playing a nasty joke on him. I had to send him the email to convince him. He was excited to say the least. I guess it looks like I will be doing a little more bear hunting this year. David

Did he say he was ever coming home. I haven't seen him for at least a month. David -
I was driving down 89 towards Sedona when the rain hit hard. It poured for about thirty minutes and then it started to hail. You could barely see the road. Even with all of that rain, it soaked right in pretty quickly. I did get a chance to try out my new mud tires, they kick azz. David

Let me hook up my fifth wheel to your toyota, and then I will hook my duramax to the front so you are able to tow it. Toyotas are great, since my wife drives a fourrunner. But they just don't have a good payload or tow capacity. David

Any vehicle that has any modifications done to it that still have the factory warranty will fall under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. If a dealership trys to void a warranty or refuses to to warranty work based on modifications, they have prove that the parts added were the result of the parts going bad on the vehicle. It doesn't matter who puts your parts on the vehicle. But if they do prove the mods caused the issues, then you will have to pay to get it fixed. Now if your are just doing the level kit, I have never heard of anybody getting the warranty denied for that. You should also change out the front shocks at the same time, since they will be so short for offroad use. I have had several trucks with lift kits, and I have never had warranty work denied. I picked up the Panasonic PV-GS300 a while back and love it. It is a 3CCD and has image stabilization. It takes some great video, plus very easy to use. David -

I was told about a device last week that will allow you to download your pictures from you SD cards or whatever the camera uses, and has the capability to watch any videos you might have on the disc also. I currently own ten SD cards and think this new device would be a great asset. I just sent back one of my Moultrie's for service and they are sending me back an upgraded model that has the screen on it. I plan on picking up that new Moultrie I40. Walmart has them online for $188.00, thats cheap. David -
elk scouting for a buddy

I was in there Saturday evening looking around and had a big coyote cross the road in front of me. I planned on doing some spot lighting that night, so I didn't have a gun with me. That coyote you shot looks like he was in bad shape. There will be alot of hunters in the long lake area when the season hits, if you plan on hunting in that area. I had five different groups of elk cross the road in front of me on Friday night while driving on 87, and a real nice bull standing on the side of the road near east clear creek. David -
Just cut across 260 and head north to your area. I take this route all of the time and it is much faster than Stoneman rd. David

Double bull matrix. I have had several animals walk right up to the blind without noticing me. I can get a little heavy if you carry it for more than a mile, but it worth it. David

I am sick and tired of hearing about your elk tag!

I am going to have to admit that I am getting real sick and tired of getting these archery bull tags. David -
I bet it sure is noisy around the house with the new baby and all those pups. Jeremy is a good guy to deal with if you are interested in his pups. He bought my quad from me and I have seen him a couple times since then, and it is always a pleasure. David

Dirty Rotten Thief
azhuntnut replied to lucky2hunt's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I was just wondering if they had cut the lock off, that is why I asked. I have been locking mine since day one and haven't lost one yet, but there is that chance that somebody will make a long trip back in to cut off my locks. David -

I have noticed on some of the bigger bulls shot that most of them carry devil tines on the eyeguards and on other points. Does this only occur on older bulls or just genetics? The one I shot had two and was starting to grow another on his front. My taxidermist aged him at about seven years old. I would think this would be another way to judge a bull quickly in the field while scouting or at the time of the shot. I know I get excited when I see big horns and thought I could look for these tines and know it is an older bull. What do you think? David

I found this on Sunday while scouting. Can anybody tell me what type of animal left this package? David
-
Thanks Jimmy for the reply. I gave Bret a call since he see's so many horns, and he told me the same exact thing. Those are some big devil tines. David

I found this on a trail on the edge of Flagstaff. I was within a mile of homes. I set up a trail camera on the trail, so hopefully I will get a pic of whatever it is. I also found this about twenty yards down the trail. I don't think it is the same animal. David

Are there any good places around the valley to go out and try to shoot rabbits with a bow other than Sun City. David

I went back to get some video of the bull I have tied to a tree. He looks like he has put on at least ten inches in two weeks. The first couple pics I pulled from the video. While I was at the CWT get together on Saturday, Lance told me about some bulls he had been seeing in my unit. I headed to the area and got up early this morning and found them. This group had a couple real nice bulls. One of them is pretty wide and is carrying some good length. I also found another group later in the morning that had a good bull, but I couldn't get him on video. I saw 16 bulls, and 15 cows before 9am. David These were also pulled from video. Next time I will take some stills.
