I had the opportunity to learn little bit about these new binos that should be hitting the stores soon. I was told by a Nikon source that the new EDG binos are 6% brighter than the Swaro EL's. Now I haven't had a chance to look through them yet since Nikon has only sent out ten pairs to different outdoor writers to do there own testing and reviews. I hope to get a pair as soon as they become available. If you are thinking about buying a new pair of binos soon, you might want to wait and take a look at these. Jimmy, I am going to put Nikon to the test real soon on the no-fault warranty. I bought a pair for my son that keeps loosing the eye cup. My plan is to run over them with my truck and then send em back. I will post a picture of the binos before I send them in. If they can't fix them, for ten dollars and shipping Nikon will send me a new pair. If you are the original owner of the Swaros and filled out the warranty card, I can't imagine why they wouldn't warranty them for you. I was kidding about the Vortex. David

Doug, Thats what I was planning. I hope to get it done soon so I can use it in the fall. I will post some pictures when I finish it. I do not put in for ham hunts. I love to chase them with my bow in January when the deer are rutting at the same time. David

For the last three years I have been carrying an NEF .223,.243. It is very light and I don't mind dropping it or getting it scratched up due to the cost. With some tweeking and time I have been able to get this little sucker to shoot very well. You can even get one with a little smaller stock for JR's. I also just recently picked up a TC contender chambered in .243 rifle and 7mm-08 in the pistol configeration. I am having a muzzlebreak added to the 7mm-08 to make it the legal length for a rifle and will carry it around for a while and see how it does. David Here is a pic of a coyote I popped last year with the NEF .243.

Doug, Great pics as usual. I see the big non typical and the 5x5 made it through another year. For those of you with the 11m tag, they don't keep slipping through the firing lines every year because they are easy to hunt, but they can be found if you do your homework. I will miss chasing these boys around this summer with my camera. Maybe next year I will get another chance. David

Before you start the "they can't afford it deal", thats not true by any means. I agree that Swaro has been the benchmark for a long time, but there is a new bully on the block. I heard that Jimmy loves those Vortex binos. Yes Casey, it is the 13-30x50ED spotting scope. I know I am not supposed to say this out loud, but I would rather carry it instead of my Swaro ATS80. OK, I have my flame retardant suit on now. David For your reading pleasure. http://www.nrapublications.org/tah/Nikon1042.asp http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=116087

When Nikon proves that they are brighter and the clarity is better than the EL's, the Swaro guys are still going to say that the EL's are better. Some guys like Fords, and others like Chevys. Most of the time it comes down to ego. I know most guys would spend a couple hundred dollors more for Swaros over another product that might be better just to say they have a pair. I own a Swaro ats 80 and think it is great, but I picked up a smaller Nikon ED glass spotter last year and never take my Swaro out anymore. I almost bought the EL's last year, but liked the Nikon LX L's better, so I bought those instead. I guess we will have to see what the outdoor writers and professional birders have to say about the new Nikons. David

Springfield Armory Champion stainless Loaded 1911 chambered in .45acp. Comes from the factory with adjustable night sights that actually work very well in the dark. Skeletonized adjustable trigger that already has a clean break with very little creep. I had the lower frame glass beaded in order to match the top of the slide. Pachmyer grip with finger grooves installed. The gun will come with original box, cleaning brush, adjustable trigger key, factory paperwork, two factory seven round clips loaded with ammo, and a Bianchi hip holster. I have owned this gun for about three years and have less than 100 rounds through it. Very nice gun, you will not be disappointed. Arizona ID required. I am buying a new FNH Five-seveN, and this gun was picked to goto another family. David $700.00

I went hunting for lion on the Carlos the last couple years. Usually during Febuary or March after the snow has melted. There are a ton of coyotes out on the flats right before you make the turn up the hill to the rim. If you drive out the dirt road right at the turn up the hill early in the morning, you can catch the coyotes cutting across the road. They like to chase the antelope and calfs around this time. I have seen a fair amount of fox up on top in the forest areas and down on the flats. If you are going to hunt lion at the same time, you have to have a seperate tag for that, and one for varmint hunting, along with the daily use permit. It can add up fast if you spend four or five days hunting. I have seen more varmints just driving around then calling. If you are going to call in the forest, make sure you have a buddy with you to watch out for the bears. They will come in looking for some free food. David

A couple months ago I decided I wanted to get a gun with a fast follow up shot for varmint hunting. After spending at least twenty hours reading through tons of posts on other websites, I decided to build an AR-15 chambered in .223. Since I am a lefty, it was hard to just buy one off of the shelf the way I wanted it. The lower receiver is made by Arizona Armory. One thing I really liked about this lower is the Arizona flag engraved on the side, plus I was able to pick serial number 48. For those that don't know, Arizona was the 48th state accepted into the union. The upper is from Stag Arms. It is a true left hand receiver, with all the components switched to the other side. I got the barrel from White Oak Armament with a 1/7 twist so I could shoot the heavier bullets, and added a muzzle brake that forces the muzzle blast forward. A crisp drop in 4.5lb Timney skeletinized trigger. Command Arms six position stock with an Enidine hydralic buffer inside. To top it off, I went with a new Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 BDC reticle scope. I took it out this morning and did a little shooting at Ben Avery. The first two shots to get it on paper were almost touching. I put a few more through it, but set it aside so my boy could shoot some other guns I brought out. I am going back out again on Friday to get the scope set up so I can hunt with it on Saturday. Here are a few pics during the build and at BA. David

Lance, I will be there again. Hopefully you guys will have some of those great biscuits and gravy again. I can bring up some home made ham beans that will keep the fire going. David

I am very mechanically inclined, so I would like to give a go at this project. I plan on checking, and most likely changing out the impellers on both. The gear oil will have to be changed, along with the greasing all of the zerk fittings. New fuel lines and spark plugs also. Is there anything I am forgeting? David

I am going to pick up a small boat this week that has a 35hp and 7.5hp gas motor on it. The owner tells me they haven't been used in a couple years. I would like to tune up the motors before I try to start them. What are some of the things I should do? Should I remove the carbs and clean them out? Give me the low down on how to make these babys top notch. David

I have the 2800 and the Hypervent. Both of them have been very good packs for me. I did rip the 2800 on my own and sent it back. They repaired it with no problems. I mostly carry the Hypervent now due to the way it is designed. David

I am in the same boat as well, plus both disc above and below are giving me problems. I almost broke down a while back and did the Spinal Decompression therapy, but it was hard to pay the almost $4500.00 cost to do so. So I did my own research on the subject and decided to purchase an Inversion Chair. Within a four days of using it, my pain started to subside. You only have to use it once or twice a day for a couple minutes, or longer if you feel like it. I also added a memory foam pad to my bed that has also helped me sleep better. I was taking over 120 mg of Ibuprofen a day before I got these item. Plus my kidneys were starting to give me problems. I can still hike a fair amount again, but not the good ole days of 10 miles or more a day. My brother recently did the Spinal Decompression and said he no longer has any pain in his back, but I don't know the severity of his injury. I hope this helps, David http://ocspinaldecompression.com/DRX9000.htm http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate....amp;item=327507

I was at a crossroads show a couple months ago. I would rather have my mother in law move into my house for the rest of her life, then go to one of them there shows again. What a crock of sh#%. Plus I picked up that nasty flu there. David

You are going to have a hard time finding that particular item used. I searched for months with no luck. I ended up buying the Handy tool and fuel box. It is 55 gallons with a box on the top. I got mine from Brent at Autonow/lifted trucks on Bell road. They might even have one on display for you to check out. David

The heart was split almost in half. You can see in the pic where he must have stopped running and the blood started to flow. I found him by following his tracks. The blood on his side is from laying down. David

I haven't used the Rage, but I have used the Snyper, which I think is a pretty close design. I would only use them on small game. The pig in this picture was shot at about ten yards. He ran full bore for about twenty yards and then tipped over. Not one spot of blood until I got to the spot where he died. You can see in the pic that it really opens them up. David

This hunt sounds just like the two seperate years I went on spring hunts. You do alot of walking and glassing, but seldom see a bear. I wish I would have taken more pics like you guys did. Were you in 31 by any chance? David

Does anybody here own one of the new Super Duty's with the 6.4 diesel? If so, I would like to hear some feedback on it. I especially want to know real world fuel mileage, and mileage while towing. Anything else you want to add would be great. David

I have looked at the Dodges before, and wasn't impressed with overall quality. I know the motors are great, but the rest of the truck seems to let loose around the drivetrain. The last couple Duramax's I have owned pulled great for me and got decent mileage when I wasn't smokin the rice burners. Ford has a video you can watch now that shows the differences in the big three. I was really surprised to see just how heavy duty the parts were on the Ford. The new Toyota just does nothing for me. I own a Toyota right now, and it has been a great vehicle. I guess I will just drive the new Chevy and Ford on the same day to see what I like most between the two. This would be my first Ford if it goes in that direction. David

I have had very good results with the Magnus Stinger broadheads. They do not need alot of kinetic energy to penetrate animals. Plus they are very stong and carry a lifetime warranty if you do manage to break one. Click on the website in my signature. David Blew right through this wiring with no problem. Just missed making Pope and Young.
