I decided to use the Magnus Snuffer SS this year for my deer and bear hunt. I am impressed so far with the way they fly. Here is a shot from thirty yards with no adjustment to my sights. I also shot a couple into a watermelon just for some extra fun. They were still sharp after shooting them into my piggy about twenty times. David Entrance. Exit.

Here is the link for Cabelas. I am also going to try my little Panasonic video camera, and my Canon digital camera on it. David http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true

Gino, You brought something up that had been bothering me for a couple weeks. I have a stand on some water that I plan on sitting next Friday. I was going to leave a note asking anybody else interested in sitting the stand to contact me so we could work out a schedule. I never did, mainly because I didn't feel it was right to stake my claim on the stand. This stand has been there for years, and was built by a friend of mine. I will most likely get there very early and hope the other hunter doesn't start trouble. The fella that put up that sign is very bold. I think you might want to get back in there and hang some of your work socks in the blind to help with scent control. David

Snapshot, The scope only weighs 16.6oz and the adapter is plastic, so the combo isn't much weight. My tripod is around four pounds. I used to carry my Swaro ATS 80 around until I got my Nikon. Now I would like to find a carbon fiber tripod to go with my Nikon. Now that would be nice and light. David

Don't waste your time and money at the gun show. Check out this one I found for sale here in the valley. Make him an offer and see what he says. This is the exact gun I picked up last weekend. David http://phoenix.backpage.com/SportsEquipFor...wAd?oid=2999345

I had the chance to go out and shoot my new Taurus titanium the other day. It has to be one of the best shooting revolvers I have ever shot. The porting in the barrel keeps recoil to a minimum. I was able to shoot five rounds at a 1 gallon jug (set at fifteen yards) at a fast back pedal with no problems. I even managed to hit the jug once and hit within 8 inches on the rest. I put 45 rounds through the gun in about five minutes without any hand fatigue. David

Ben, That looks a little like the 3x3 I saw last year out there, but still needs to grow some more. Great picture, keep them coming. David

I hiked in off of the 260 about three weeks ago setting up cameras and my boy asked me to try calling. I hadn't been on the call for five seconds when a fox just about jumped on us. It must have been under the big rocks we were sitting on. He started to run, but came right back when I called. I don't think he had ever seen a human the way he acted. David

damn dirty bears
azhuntnut replied to Sundevils79's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I have started to spray my cameras with scent killer hoping to keep the bears off of them. I am checking a few Sunday and will find out if it is working or not. Good pics by the way. David -

I just picked this up on Saturday. It is the Taurus Tracker Titanium with a two inch ported barrel, chambered in 45lc. The gun only weighs 19.8 ounces and will not rust. You can't go wrong with a wheel gun in a frantic situation. David http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-...tegory=Revolver

I headed out this morning to a pond a friend told me about in a wilderness area. He built a blind in a tree years ago and said I was welcome to give it a try during the deer season. I got into the stand about six this morning a waited for the action to start. After sitting for about four hours I decided to take a walk and look for some deer sign, plus set up a few cameras. I got about a half mile from the pond and started doing a circle around it. At one point I stopped to check out a spot to hang my camera but noticed a wierd noise. It sounded a little different than anything I had heard in the wild. I then realized it was a mountain lion that must be in heat. I have the same sound on my foxpro fx3. I started walking towards the sound, but it seemed to be moving away from me. I picked up the pace and managed to catch up. Just when I thought I was fairly close, a lion walked out about thirty yards from me. It looked like a good cat based on all of the pics I have seen. I got up to the spot and marked it on my GPS so I could come back in September to try and get it. After calling my buddy and telling him what I ran into, I started to walk in the direction that the lion went. Within about two hundred yards I ran into a ravine that went down into a canyon so I walked about 100 yards up and around the ravine and started heading towards the pond. I sat down for a moment to glass back across the ravine and heard the lion again about 125 yards away. I must have walked right past it on my way out. So I sat an listened for about thirty minutes, but could never see it since it stayed in the trees. At this point I wanted to get a picture of it so I headed back towards the sound again. Once again it walked the other direction so I gave up on seeing it again. So now I started heading to the pond again which was only a little over a quarter mile away at this point. I stopped about 75 yards from the pond to set up a camera and heard the lion once again. I figured the sound was being carried down the canyon about twenty yards from me. It only took about five minutes to set up everything and get my pack on. Right when I pulled on my pack the lion let out the noise again, but this time it was now at the edge of the canyon where I was setting up the camera. I hoped it was heading to the pond so I took off running to get up into the stand so I could get some pics. It ended up staying about forty yards out making all kinds of racket for another twenty minutes. It eventually headed back down to where I heard it the first time, but not before it left me pretty shakin. It seems as if it followed my tracks from where I first found it all the way to the pond. I won't be carrying my little .22 into that area anymore. Hopefully I will get a pic on one of the cameras I set up in the area. David

I felt a little under armed on my last trip out, so I picked up this gun to carry during my archery hunts. It is a Taurus Tracker chambered in 45lc. It is made out of Titanium and only weighs 19.8 ounces and comes with a ported barrel. David

I saw this rig at Cabelas last Friday. I think he must be a big coues fan. Anybody here own it? David

Ben, Have you been seeing any good muleys yet? Hopefully that tank is within the property. David

I ran the MTs last year during my elk hunt. I think I put about 10k on mine before I went back to regular tires. They are unbelievable offroad in the mud and whatever else you can throw at them. Not all that loud compared to other tires out there. But they are crazy heavy. I had the 285x75x16 ten ply on my Duramax and they really sucked the fuel. They have worn well, but the rear lost a little more tread than the front due to my heavy foot. I would also look at the BFG KM2's if I were you just to see how well they perform. Coosefan has the BFG's on his super duty, but I thing he has already left town for a while and won't be able to comment on them. David

What would you do for your Coues?
azhuntnut replied to Lance's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I will have to admit I take hunting most big game pretty serious. If I have an elk hunt in September, you will find me hiking north mountain most mornings with my pack on in the high heat. If I think there is a deer, bear, or elk at the top of a high mountain, I will hike up there to try and find it. I like to have a good time on my hunts, but will push myself to the limit in order to harvest one. Hopefully I can find some pics from some of my WT hunts. David -
I was at cabelas last week and got to use the new Nikon incline decline rangefinder. You don't need to calibrate it or mess with a bunch of buttons. Just point and push the button and you will have the correct range. David http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/product.ph...mp;product=8366

Mineral attractant?
azhuntnut replied to coueschaser3's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I have had good luck mixing salt pellets and buck jam together. I usually put some of the pellets in an old gatorade bottle and then add the buck jam apple flavor. When I put this out, I have animals hitting it within a day. I also like the rasberry bricks for elk. They love that flavor. I have some video somewhere showing an elk picking up one of the salt pellets and chewing on it. David -
I set up some cameras over the 4th of July weekend hoping to get some pics of a bear of coues. My first camera was hit by a bear. It tried to scratch it right off of the tree. The only pic I got was it back. It must be a decent sized bear, cause I had my camera about 4-5 feet off the ground. Now my other camera I thought for sure would be gone when I went to check it, but to my surprise, it was still there. It had alot of pics of kids and adults checking out the camera, but nobody took it. Now I just wish I had an archery bull tag in this unit. David

Gino, He is up near me, if that is where you were talking about. I was very surprised to see a bull of this caliber in the area. Now if he can just make it one more year so I can get a tag. Does he look like he has grown at all since last year? David
