I built something similar for hanging deer in the field. Mine goes a bit higher and comes out at the top like a hangmans bar. I also added a trailer swing out on the bottom to stop the hoist from sagging when it is weighed down. We have lifted some pretty heavy deer with it, and it saves a bunch of time while skinning. I will see it I have a pic somewhere. David

I need to purchase a new Remington 700 soon. I recently found an SPS Tactical chambered in .308. Has anybody own one of these? If so, can you give me a little feedback on it. I have read that it is a good shooter out of the box, and weighs in at 7.5 pounds. David http://www.remington.com/products/firearms...s-tactical.aspx

Remingtion SPS Tactical .308

I decided to pull the trigger on the SPS Tactical today. The deal was to good to pass up. I tried pretty hard to find the rifle the Buglethemin recommended, but it was on national backorder and I couldn't wait any longer. Cabelas had the gun on sale, plus a 40 dollar rebater. I am taking it out next week to break her in. David -
I use an old Primos bugler that is cut down to about five inches, and Primos dual reed mouth call {red}. I had good luck with the dual hot lips without the converter and the cowgirl in the past. I recently heard the Bull Hooker cow call from Hunter Specialties that sounded really good, and a little different from the others. David

Amanda, That is his skull. When I first saw it I thought it was a great touch to the mount. I told Kevin I wanted him to look like he was just hangin out relaxing on a rock, as if he was half napping or sunning himself. David

This is a bobcat I shot back in October. I think it turned out really good. Kevin Bean from Natural Creation Taxidermy did it for me. David

Great. Now Christian is going to have to run out and buy a bigger hat. David

These scopes can be used on any .223. You just need to use 55 grain bullets, or if you have a short barrel, then I would try 50. The M223 is different the Coyote. The M223 allows you to be more accurate by using the new BDC with slash marks every 50 yards. The coyote can be used with any caliber. If you are going to use the coyote, go onto Nikons website and use the Spot On program to find out where you bullet will land inside of the circles. It works very well and has several functions. Remingtion SPS Tactical .308
azhuntnut replied to azhuntnut's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I forgot to mention that I cannot change out the stock or really do alot of work on the gun. It must stay in the stock form so when I do my testing with my products it will show I was using a factory gun. I am going to try it right out of the box and see what type of results I get using factory ammo. David -
Remingtion SPS Tactical .308

Over the years I have shortened my barrels on my guns, and haven't noticed a huge difference in velocity. It actually helps with vibration in the barrel. I plan on using it to kill animals, long range shooting, and a test bed for some of my product. I will most likely have the barrel threaded for a muzzlebrake, and do a little work on the inside of the stock to stiffen it up a bit. I haven't really read to many bad things about it, plus it looks bada$$. I have a 16in. barreled .223 that shoots lights out at long range, so I don't think the 20 would be to bad for the .308. I was hoping somebody could give me real world feedback on it though. David -
Private property must be marked every 1/4 mile with a sign or a stick with the top portion painted red. Don't always trust what a game and fish officer tells you, they are wrong sometimes. I even corrected one this past year after I read through the regs. He was very happy for letting him know. And you can't enter private property if your buddies, cousin, friend with the red truck that used to hunt there ten years ago gave you permission. David

Do we have any members here that are also members on the predator masters website? David

Myself and my son both drew some 41 tags and he also drew one of the junior javelina tags in 39 during November. Gonna be his first hunt for deer, so I can hardly wait. David

They do work, but I do not recommend using one inside of a double bull blind. We tried it during the deer hunt and I thought I was going to cough up a lung, and then it got hard to breath. David

Camp up on Point of Pines and they will walk into your camp. Dry Lake area has some bears also. David

I like the seperate categorie idea. I already have my bull picked out. Are we going to use the gross score? I am not into net scoring an animal that deserves everything he grew. David

Amanda, I will try to get a video made this weekend with a little more detail. Some of my still pictures show the LOC JAW attached to the Picatinny rail. The rail is bolted directly to my forearm. Some AR's come with a forearm that has a Picatinny rail built directly into it. David -

The LOC JAW slides onto the lower Picatinny rail of your firearm and then it is bolted on using three stainless steel bolts. It only weighs 2.5 ounces, so you don't even notice a difference when it is installed. You are then able to hunt with the LOC JAW installed with your tripod plate already attached so it locks into your tripod in an instant. There is a 1/4x20 threaded hole on the bottom with two locating holes on each side to prevent the plate from rotating on the LOC JAW. Take a look through my pictures and you can see how it attaches to the rail. All the edges have been rounded for comfort while carrying the gun. Here is my latest video with Trent doing the shooting. David -
We shot some collard dove this past year and grilled them over a fire within a couple hours of shooting them. They have a dark meat on top and then it is white below. You need to use #6's to put down on the first shot. David

I guess I need to sweetin the pot a little bit. I will also throw in a Encore 300 win mag stainless steel barrel with a custom muzzlebreak installed. Very few rounds down the barrel. David

I would like to trade my like new Benelli super nova 12 guage. I have only put a couple boxes through the gun. It has the 26in barrel with max 4 camo, three chokes, 3.5in chamber. I also have the original box with all the paperwork. I am looking for a Remington 700 with synthetic stock, chambered in either 22-250, 223, 243, 223wssm, 243wssm. I would prefer the shorter barrel, but would take the regular length. David

I am open to other calibers as long as they don't kick like a mule. I just need this gun for a project. If you have one scratched up or dinged, thats OK. It just needs to be a good shooter with a proper broke in barrel. But it does need to be a factory 700 with no work done on it. David

I thought I saw one over at The Outdoorsmans on Cave Creek last week. Give them a call to find out. David -
Does anybody have a factory synthetic remington 700 stock they removed to use an aftermarket stock? I just need to use it for a couple days to get some measurements. I need long and short action. I will also be looking for a Winchester stock in the future if anybody has one. David
