azhuntnut replied to azhuntnut's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It is a rem 700 with the a 1/9.25 twist rate. I have 8 pounds of imr4350 and a bunch of cci 200's. I have found a few loads online starting around 41 grains of imr4350. I might even load a some with rl-17. I use this powder in my 243wssm and it is a laser. David -
Win a free Rifle Railz / LOC JAW combo
azhuntnut replied to azhuntnut's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
Thanks everybody for joining in on the contest. There is still planting of time left to join in. Make sure you tell your friends. David This is a javelina my son shot this last fall using the Rifle Railz/LOC JAW combo. It was facing us when he shot it, so he aimed at the eye. -
These pics were sent to me by another hunter he got from one of his trail cameras. I don't have a straight forward pic, but these should get you going. David

Brian, You did it properly. Thank you. I have never posted on Facebook before, but I am sure somebody on this site can give an idea on how to do it. Thanks, David -
I'd like to build a mountain rifle...
azhuntnut replied to 4Falls's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Here is a gun I built years ago as a lightweight pack rifle. The barrel started out as a TC pistol barrel chambered in 7mm-08. I had a muzzlebrake added to make it legal rifle length, plus the barrel drilled and tapped so I could use a rifle forearm. If I remember correctly, the entire rifle with scope was about 5.5 pounds. There is a back story on these trail cam pics. Opening morning of deer season I met a nice fella that was heading into the same general direction as myself. At the end of the weekend we had breakfast in Flagstaff and I was telling him about an antelope I arrowed up there. When I showed him the pics, he said his friend had some pics of my antelope. I was really surprised to hear this since I had several cameras set up in there area, and all the water sources covered. His buddy was nice enough to provide me the pictures of my buck. So now I have pics and video of the buck right before I shot it. The buck scored 89 4/8's SCI. It's so hard to score antelope in pics, but you guys were real close. David

like the antelope hunt in 7 where you could of let that woman finish off her goat instead putting your client in front of her. money before ethics i guess. going elk hunting up there tomorrow. That won't happen to me I GUARANTEE! I don't think it's a good idea to start making accusations against Lance based on heresay from another person. I personally know Lance very well, as well as several other members on this forum. I highly doubt he had anything to do with this situation you have described. He is probably the last person that is in the business for fame and fortune. Owning a guide service does not make much money at all. Most of the time you break even or even loose a little. His honesty and ethics are top notch. In fact, he would most likely lead you to an animal you were hunting for free before he would charge you. Please don't turn this into your personal vendetta. We already have enough of this going on within other forums. By the way, great buck Lance. I know you earned him. David

You have a good memory Tines. He is at the 2:17 mark on the video. You guys have guessed pretty close so far on the score. David

So that's what it looks like when horses are asleep. I could have used a horse this past weekend when I was packing out my Double Bull, chair, bow/arrows, pack, food, and all the other junk that ends up in my pack. David

This trailer was custom built by a retired welder. I have owned it for about 5 years and it has never let me down. It has been way overbuilt for its size. It measures 10 foot long and 6 foot 8 inches wide. Its has steel frame with cross members and from the pictures you can see he used a ton of bolts all evenly spaced. The interior has several cabinets and drawers for storage, plus a large counter top. Two propane tanks on the front with lines piped into the trailer for stove, heater, or lantern hook up. Two bunk beds and additional storage under the bottom bed. There are several windows throughout for good air movement., and a screen door to let in the breeze. It has trailer brakes, and the tires were replace within the last year. It sits high off the ground for better offroad clearance. On the back of the trailer there is additional locking storage area for equipment. Receiver hitch on the back for a slide in carrier for extra equipment. This trailer will go anywhere your truck can and will not break. I have a title and lifetime registration. You don't need to do anything to this trailer, it is ready to use for camping or hunting. I have driven it all over the state and on numerous dirt roads without one issue. No leaks or breakage. I am buying another trailer and I have no room for this one. $2400.00 obo

I'm surprised this hasn't sold yet, so I am gonna try to make it work for somebody. How about $2000 or I will take a small pop up trailer in partial trade. It has to be 1000 lbs or less in order for me to be able to tow with my suzuki. Lets make a deal. David Plus, it already has a custom sticker on the back.

Thompson Encore need Help
azhuntnut replied to AZBUCKEYE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have worked a lot on encores in order to make them shoot well. There biggest downfall is the forearm attached to the barrel. One thing I did that seemed to help a lot was to get a pin that fits really snug where the barrel attaches to the frame. I use a rubber mallet to get mine back in. Then I took the forearm and used my dremel to remove any part that would be touching the barrel or frame. When firing from a bench, try to keep the pressure right on the end of the frame instead of the barrel. I also lapped all of my barrels. I have a factory blued .243 that shoots Hornady light mag ammo like it was a custom barrel. See if you can mic the inside of the hole on your frame and then find a new stud or have one machined. I got these pics at the end of last year and just noticed them on my card. I probably got 20 pics of this cat and saw him several times. David

I know this is a long shot, but I would also consider partial trade for a DPMS 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10. David

My grand vitara can tow it, but it makes it squat to much since I have coil springs instead of leaf springs. Not sure of the gvw, but my buddy towed it with a small dodge pick up with no issues. All the cabinets in the front of the trailer put some weight on the tongue. David

I hope he just passing through. I have a good deer hanging out in this same area. This was taken up north in the pines. David

I was in 6b today and saw a small cinnamon bear eating acorns. I didn't see any in the pears, and it didn't look like they were ripe yet. The funny thing is hat I has been glassing for about 3 hours without seeing any bears when I hear something over my left shoulder. About 250 yards away this bear was working its way towards me. It was a beautiful cinnamon color, but was only 2-3 years old so I let it keep eating and then disappear down into the cut below me. David

I got it about a month ago, but just had the chance to snap some pics. I have been wanting to go back to a dual cam bow for a while now and this fit the bill. It shoots much faster than my older Bow Madness. The draw is a little heavier just past mid point, but is easy to hold at full draw. It does shoot quieter and feels good after he shot. I added a rear stabizer on this bow in order to equalize the weight and it really works well. It's shoots my carbon express blue streaks great, but I ordered some of there new Red's after hearing how well they also shoot. Plus they are a tag heavier giving me a little more down range kinetic energy. David

I have shot 2 lions in 39 just five days apart. I had a really big one I chased for 6 weekends last year. I got close one night, but couldn't close the deal. He was shot five days later about 1.5 miles from where I lost him. The picture you posted looks a lot like a bobcat. They can get pretty big down there due to all the rabbits and javelina. Even the way he is walking looks like a bobcat. I have included some pics of a big track of the cat that was shot, plus a trail cam pic of a female I was trying to kill. Plus a pic of the young lady that shot the 130 lb cat. Treum, I will shoot you a private message to get your contact info. I am looking for somebody that can help me track down some cats. David

Eli, Do you have any side photos of this buck? It looks like he has some good mass on the lower and upper portion. He only seems to be about 16, but I think the mass would make him score high. David

I have customers that carry with and without. I use the Outdoorsmans tripod that has a small tripod attachment, so I carry mine with it on. But if you are out glassing and find an animal at long distance, you usually have time to pull your plate out of your pocket and screw it in quickly. I welcome any other questions anybody might have about my products. David Sales@aristotleeng.com

I am looking for a source in the phx area that has clamshell packaging in stock in several sizes. If you know of a company, please shoot me an email. Thanks, David Sales@aristotleeng.com

I'm one of the lucky few that have had this tag twice in the last four years. I never did find one that was really huge, but did take a deer on the last day of each hunt so I could have some meat. I think most of the big boys are still hanging together with other bucks during the hunt, since the rut doesn't get going until January. I did see a few younger bucks starting to chase does later in the month. If you plan to hunt any agriculture areas, keep a lion tag in your pocket, and make sure you are not on private property. I have seen more lions in late November and December than any other month out there. There are also some good trick tanks way out in the desert where you might find some bucks. David
