How about $850. That would save somebody about $350 if you bought from a dealer. David

I came across this fella while glassing today. He was eating tadpoles in a small basin of watering the rocks. He was very aggressive and struck the end of my tripod leg several times. About a foot long and as big around as a thumb. David

Spring archery tag. David

I glassed this one up last Saturday for my buddy who had the archery tag. He was eating berries the whole time until an arrow hit him. Hopefully he will post a story about the hunt soon. David

It's looks like its gonna be hard for me to find somebody with the calibers I want, and not many people have this kind of cash laying around. So I'm gonna expand my trade options. I would be willing to accept a gun or several guns valued at $1000 that are in great condition. Or even swarovski optics. I'm open to hear what you have to offer via pm. The item would have to be something that I could resell easily in order to purchase the rifle I want. David

I found these tracks while scouting for turkey. I haven't killed a bear yet, so I'm not experienced enough to tell if this is a big bear. They sure seemed larger than most of the others I have found. This was the second set I found in a 5 mile square. David

I have a new pse for sale. David http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/50486-brand-new-pse-full-throttle-370fps/ -
I would consider trading for a nice bolt action rifle chambered in .260 or 6.5 .Creedmoor. David

That's not a big bear. Keep searching and you will find one much better. I have seen them with there belly not far off the ground. Find a place with lots of cow calves. If you find a dead cow, there are usually bears close by. Another way to tell if you have and big bear, is to look at them from the front and see if they have a deep v in the skull and it's nice and wide. I have seen bears in the desert and up in the pines during that hunt. David

We are having a sale on the Rifle Railz for a limited time. The normal retail is $119.99, but you can buy one now for $99.99. I spoke with Amanda today and she has a few in stock that are tactical black. David http://store.coueswhitetail.com/rifle-railz-rifle-rest/

I also have a fairly new Evo Max that I shoot, so that is why I won't try to trade it. David

I wouldn't be interested in the rifle right now. I'm not into the big bore calibers anymore. David

I had two hits for deer show up on my cabelas card this afternoon. I'm hoping they are for both of my boys. Still waiting for the sheep charge to show. David

Since I have a little experience in this area I thought I would add to it. I have been shooting off tripods now for about 4.5 years. I found the best heads to use are the fluid type. The tripod itself should be sturdy in order to hold the weight of the gun. I have used Manfrotto tripods and heads with great success, but now I mostly use the medium Outdoorsmans tripod with the fluid head. Stay away from the pistol grip, they won't hold tight. One concern you had was recoil. When you are shooting your rifle, the gun is still against your shoulder when you shoot. Your body is still going to absorb some of the recoil, but some of it will go down into the legs. All the mount is doing is holding the gun in position and the weight of the gun. I like to point one tripod leg back towards my body if possible. David

mechanical broadheads success and failures
azhuntnut replied to creed_az_88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I have never been a fan of expandables due to failure on javelina. This past January I decided to let my son try the Grave Diggers with the on contact tips during his javelina hunt to see if they have improved. His bow is set at around 38 pounds. He made a less than perfect shot on a pig at 10 yards and got a full pass through. Since it was a little back, I gave the pig about an hour and went find it. The only thing that saved us from a long search was one of the huge expandables caught the edge of one of the lungs and spit it open. I have heard they have been using the chisel tipped heads on the big pigs in Texas with great success. If they can put down one of those pigs, then I think they would work on elk. I personally prefer any broadhead that is a cut on contact tip. It takes much less kinetic energy to penetrate than a chisel tip. David -

I have had the xtr's on my Ranger and they did great, but when I started to do a lot more dirt roads and street use I switched to the Interco swampers. They were 28 inches tall and had a weight rating for a small truck. I would air tem down to 4-5 pounds. Even after 1000 miles they didn't show any wear. I could run 52 mph on the hardtop. Plus they are dot rated so the cops and forest service couldn't ticket me on the road. I will need a small lift and spacers to make them fit. David

Do you think this is the same bull that I have been hearing about that heads over to my neighborhood during the rut? I haven't had any get that bold yet, but I don't have any tasty flowers to eat. Great pics. David

I put some water out about 10 yards off our back deck up north a month ago. It looks like I have three different bulls coming in so far. One already busted off his main beam. I also had a deer sneak through, but I can't tell if it was a whitey or not. I will update pics as I get them. David

Are you trimming your cases, or just loading them out of the box? Which primers are you using? David

I was headed out to check some water and found this fire burning. It's about 5 miles north of Hapoy Jack on the edge of Jacks Canyon. 2 trucks of hot shots and a bunch of forest service fire department rolled in already. David

They are bringing in a lot of fire fighters on this one. I managed to get a pic of a tanker flying over me and a helicopter carrying water. David
