How has your spring bear hunt in 22 been going?! Seeing any activity? That's kind of funny you ask today. I was out this morning and was working my way down to one that was in some thick brush. It took me about an hour to get to my spot to call. About the time I got there, the bear decided he was going to come up and meet me. Before I knew it he was right on top of me. I had some manzanita separating me and him. It had to only be about ten feet. I could hear his feet on the ground but just couldn't see through the thick brush. He winded me and took off. I have been watching bears since the beginning of April. There is one in particular I have my eye on if he would just cooperate. David

I recently got my bow madness back after selling it last year. I decided to throw on some new strings and get it dipped. I shot it for the first time today after a couple years and it was like I never put it down. It is dipped in digital camo. David

I bought an ODB 2 scan tool and found out the code was Evap system malfunction. From what I read, it has to do the fuel vapors. I cleared it and will include the scan tool with the purchase of the vehicle. The price has been lowered. David

He gave me a special deal since it was his first time trying a bow. I did check another place before his shop and they wanted $250 to dip the bow. David

Last year I decided to give turkey hunting a try. I was never able to get all that excited about hunting them until I took my boys out. We got into turkey's several times, but they already had hens and wouldn't come in close enough. This year I decided to really get after it and scouted for the last three weekends. I had some birds located and was excited for opening morning. Opening morning found me and my son calling in a bird. He took almost 25 minutes to get to our set up. Once he got close enough we saw it was a jake. He saw my decoy and moved off. This morning we were back in the same spot and had them gobbling. It sounded like there were 4 birds gobbling, but once again they took there time. Finally a single bird came to my calls, which I'm not sure if they are very good. I'm still learning at this point. He came in quiet and hung up behind some jack pines for about five minutes at 20 yards staring at the decoys. I hit my call a few times to get him moving and he slowly walked in just behind the decoys as if they weren't even there. He fed slowly behind them until my son had a clear shot. This is his first turkey and my first time helping kill a turkey. I am hooked on this turkey hunting now. I got some video using my GoPro and will post the video once he gets finished editing it. I got my new stock in the mail the other day so I thought I would throw on while I'm still waiting for the action just to how how it looks and feels. This stock is normally built for an AR, but my chassis was built to allow any type of AR stock to fit on it. It has an adjustable cheek height and length of pull. It only weighs 1.26 pounds. A lot lighter than other adjustable stocks on the market. David

I found this company on backpage. He had never done a bow before, so I brought him an older bow to practice on first. I think it came out great. I just wish he had the Kuiu pattern. If you do decide to have one dipped, make sure you label the limbs when you take it apart. David http://phoenix.backpage.com/SportsEquipForSale/1-hydro-dip-your-guns/29486832

I am changing the vanes on my carbon express arrows from the blazers and was considering the Max Hunter vanes. Has anybody tried these with fixed broadheads? Do they stabilize the arrow faster? I'm going to put them on using the Arizona e-z fletch mini with the maximum helical. I bought the Salomon Quest boots a couple years ago and I am really impressed with them. They break in very fast and have all kinds of ankle support. I'm actually looking to buy another pair soon. You can find them at REI. David

I recently bought the new Kuiu Icon Pro 3200. I did a bunch of research before making my decision and I am very satisfied with my choice. The fitment of the pack is amazing and very comfortable. Based on there videos I watched on youtube, they made some improvements over there prior packs. Plenty of pockets and places to put lots of gear. There is also an internal belt system to control movement of larger gear inside the pack. It prevents shifting while you hike. The part I really like is the fact you can adjust the pack to your exact torso size. This has always been an issue for me with other packs. I also added some side pockets, and gun holder. I will add feedback when I pack out my first animal. David http://store.kuiu.com/product-p/62009.htm

Spot and stalk buck I shot in 2012. He scored 89 4/8's SCI. I had so much fun on this hunt. I can't wait until I draw another tag. David- 73 replies

This question comes up every year and there are always great suggestions on which broadhead to use. Based on my experience, I have had the opportunity to shoot 4 elk with a bow. I shot all of them using a cut on contact broadhead made by Magnus. It is the 100 grain Stinger with the bleeders. I like this type since there isn't a lot of kinetic energy lost during entry into the animal. Plus all of the blades are sharp on the backside. This helps to cause more internal damage in case the arrow stops inside. All of my shots were a complete pass through, even one at almost 70 yards. This year I drew another tag and I'm gonna try a new broadhead form them called The Black Hornet. It's a little shorter, but has a wider cutting diameter. Plus the blades have been made a little thicker. Just by chance if you manage to break one, they are covered under a lifetime warranty. Yes. The builder used real wood for the cabinets, plus it's a heavy duty frame. We put 5 gallon jugs of water under the bed area to reduce gouge weight. Plus there is a hitch on the back bumper if you want to add a slide in hitch carrier. David

I thought about wrapping it in camo, but I thought the HOA would frown on it. I left it out in the forest for almost 2 months and nobody ever bothered it. David
