Has anybody been able to get the Eld-x bullets to shoot besides the factory ammo? I have a cut rifled 1-8.5 twist barrel and I'm beginning to think these bullets are just to long for my barrel. I actually got a little tumbling in the beginning when they were loaded just off the lands. David

Somebody told me about these yesterday. Apparently they are pretty good. I'm sure they are a copy of all the others. David https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-52-Quart-High-Performance-Cooler-Grey/49229404

I have a new 12 pack of Victory Vforce Sport arrow shafts that are 45-60. Sell for $45 or trade for some Magnus Black Hornet 100g broadheads or some Carbon Express Blue Streak select arrows. David

My wife bought new furniture, so this one is going. It is the fake leather and has mechanical recliners on both ends. We seldom used it. I needs to be picked up by Friday afternoon. I'm in North Peoria around 99th and Jomax. $300 David

Start with 41 and work up to 42.5 in 1/2 increments. Those Eld's are a little picky when it comes to how far you load off the lands. I just loaded up some a while back with over 100 thousands jump. I'm hoping they work cause I have tried everything in between. My 140 Vlds shoot one hole with 42.5g. David

Follow the link below to enter the raffle to win this awesome hunt. Chances of drawing a Goulds hunt are very slim. Thanks to Jay Scott and Darr Colburn for donating this hunt. We will be drawing the winner at our annual free turkey seminar. Jay and Darr will be the guest speakers at the seminar. They provide a ton of information and calling technique at this seminar. Awesome caliber. We have shot several with it and I'm amazed at the damage it does. That sucker does have a big noggin. David

If you don't want to carry anything extra, or clamp your rifle down inside of anything, take a look at the second generation Rifle Railz. It only weighs 3 ounces and uses the existing factory mounts on your rifle when you install it. You can then attach your rifle directly to your tripod. There are several members here that have been using this mount for years with great success. Check it out. You can purchase one in the coues whitetail store. Homegrown lightweight 7mm-08 AI finally finished, well maybe.

I'm so happy to see you have the bolt on the correct side. I had the same caliber for a while, but never had the chance to work up a good load. I want to build another one similar to what you did. David -
It looks like the mange. I have shot a bunch like this. It usually happens when the coyotes have an area where they are grouping together a lot and it's transfers to more coyotes. Do not touch it, not even with your foot. You can carry it home to your pets. David

I have been using several from Streamlight depending on the application. The Portacarreo HL is crazy bright and I use it most of the time. I did see a new one at Shot Show this year I'm going to get call ed the Bandit. It has one single long led in the front that is bright and similar to a flood light. I think it would be great for hiking in the mornings. David http://www.streamlight.com/products/explore-products/headlamps

We have sold all of the tickets. We will draw the winner tomorrow at Sportsmans Warehouse and I will post the winner here. Thanks everyone for your continued support of our organization, it's greatly appreciated. David Edit- looks like Mike beat me to the punch. -
I had the opportunity to speak with one of the guys from Gold Rush for about ten minutes while they were in between appearances. I asked them about doing a donation for the Desert Christian Archers and they said yes right away. I'm not sure what it will be, but they wanted to be involved. Super friendly to me. I know a lot of these guys have to "act" a certain way on these shows to improve ratings. I was involved in an outdoor show one time and it was a horrible experience. They were asking me to do stuff I didn't want to do and asked me to re-shoot scenes that had already taken place. i will have a booth next year, so I won't be checking out all the products. I have some new products coming out soon and just went there to see if anybody else had anything like it and to see which companies were copying my current mounts. David

Need a rifle rest? Try a Rifle Railz Gen2
azhuntnut replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
We haven't personally installed a Rifle Railz on a Venture, but based on the configuration of your rifle and the research I did on the action, it will fit. -
Thinking of buying the Leica 1600b. I would like to hear opinions from guys that own one. What do you think of the ballistic program? I have had a Leica in the past and liked the optics and red image. David

My son Ryan drew his first deer tag this year, and it was a good one. He got one of 50 tags available for the late hunt in December. My schedule prevented me from putting in the amount of time I normally scout, so we didn't have any deer picked out before the hunt started. We hunted the first three days of the hunt, but we were only seeing small deer hanging with the doe's and very little rutting activity. We got a chance to run back up this past Wednesday just for the day, but still didn't find a shooter. We went back up Thursday night and got up early and started glossing the flats from a small knoll and within a couple minutes I picked up some doe's. I had to move down the hill to get around some trees and finally picked up the buck and knew it was a shooter. We had to get down to the flats and get out in front of the herd to get the wind in our face. We slowly started working our way back towards the area where I found the herd like we were archery hunting. I finally picked up a doe moving through the trees after a half hour of a slow stalk. We sat down right there hoping the herd would work its way into us. After thirty minutes had passed, we had 6 doe's feeding at 25 yards in front of us and I still couldn't see the buck anywhere. One of the doe's noticed us and took off taking the rest with her. She ran back towards the rest of the herd and that's when the buck stepped out of the trees. I grabbed the rifle already attached the our tripod and moved over about ten feet to get a clear shot. The buck started to move slowly trying to figure out what was going on. Ryan knelt down and got in behind the rifle and got set up on him. As the buck moved forward I gave a little doe bleat and he stopped right behind a prickly pear broadside. There was one pad in front of his vitals, but Ryan was able to put a perfect shot right in the heart at 110 yards. We walked up to where the buck was shot and I found the hole where he had shot through the pad and Ryan started tracking blood from there. I was amazed at the amount of blood averywhere. The buck made it about 6 yards and expired. He walked up to the deer in amazement and I couldn't have been more proud at that moment. Ryan is the first person to kill a big game animal using our second generation Rifle Railz Hybrid bolt action tripod mount. He has a jr. pig hunt in about three weeks and I can't wait to do it again. Toby, Thanks for posting the pic and video. It looks like on the video he was in some thicker vegetation than where he was shot. I shot a deer in the same area over ten years ago just over the ridge from where I was glassine. I have been hunting around there since 92. David
