    Auction tags

Well it’s a relatively educated guess actually. Raffles are saturated right now and I don’t think 3 sheep raffle tags will triple the volume of raffle sales. The raffle sheep tag historically generates about $100k-150k less compared to auction tags. Similar results with deer and elk and you get to about $1,000,000 difference in total revenue. If they can sell raffles outside AZ why the heck don’t they give that a try for a year and see how it goes before cutting the auction tags? They are banking on raffle sales and this is literally the worst environment for raffles sales in a decade. I’m actually not against getting rid of auction tags but the current lack of planning and bold assumptions being made by the dept and commission make me very, very skeptical. But hey, I’m just a conservative numbers guy..

    Auction tags

Tags fees go into the general account, so they don’t go toward habitat projects. But you knew that already…. They study purple footed guppies with the general fund money from your tag fees. My guess is there will be about a $1,000,000 loss of revenue with this decision for habitat projects per year. Putting this here to look back on in 5-10yrs.

    Auction tags

For sheep, elk and deer the raffle tag raises much less money. And…. The raffle can no longer be sold outside of AZ, a recent change that will severely limit raffle sales.

This is from the AZGFD presentation from January.

    Auction tags

That’s the problem, raffle tags don’t raise nearly as much as the auction tags….. and the commission has no concrete plan to replace the lost revenue.

You guys crack me up, I literally posted a link in this topic to the projects that the money has been spent on.

    Auction tags

The money is allocated to a project(s) each year. Sometimes the projects don’t get done in the year planned, in which case the money rolls to the next year. Sometimes the projects take several years to complete so the money sits until the project is finalized. Generally speaking all the money has a dedicated project and will get spent. Sometimes projects get cancelled and that money that was allocated will be used for another project.

Just click the link and look at the different years and where the money goes. It’s all there on the website.

    Auction tags

No need to dig, it’s a public process that involves all of the local non profit organizations that represent wildlife in AZ in conjuction with AZGFD people from all regions and units. All the speculation about where the money goes comes from people who don’t even understand how the process works and aren’t involved. Join a wildlife organization and have some input… https://www.azgfd.com/wildlife-conservation/on-the-ground-conservation/cooperative-programs/habitat-partnership-committee/

I have one similar. I currently have a 2020 XLT with the 6.7 diesel. The pic you posted looks to be a gasser but if I can offer any advice I’m happy to.

Can you enter draw at 9?

Yes, if they don’t draw the tag they get a point.

Can you enter draw at 9?

You can’t buy a bonus point until they are 10 years old. You can apply 9 year olds for hunts but they have to turn 10 before the hunt starts. I believe they have to be 10 at the draw deadline to buy them a point. I had to apply my son for a buffalo tag even though I had no intention of hunting it because he was only 9 at the draw deadline and the system won’t let you buy the point if they aren’t already 10.

    New hunting rig

Wish mine had the locker. I actually have a locking rear axle beside my house, just haven't found a mechanic I trust enough to do the swap. I’d like to get the locker rebuilt before I swap it out.

    New hunting rig

Couple reasons. my F250 drives way better down the highway and has 30 gallon fuel tank and gets better mileage pulling the trailer than the 4runner gets by itself. the 4runner is great in the hills but with the lift, mud tires and low tire pressure it isn’t great on the highway. It’s fine to about 50-60mph but anything above that and it just kinda works harder than it needs to. Especially running north on i17 it only takes about 5 minutes to load and unload
