Sanding down a B&C medalist stock
az41mag replied to no worries's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm not sure about the exterior surface near the grip, but I have sanded a couple B&C stocks in the barrel channel and if you go deep enough it will go to a very coarse layer of fiberglass. One of the stocks that I sanded was a brown w/ black web and the brown color was only on the surface and black underneath, (but again this was only in the barrel channel.) -
Does anyone have any experience with using speed nocks vs. not using them on their bowstring? I recently had my bow strings replaced and the tech at the shop talked me out of putting them on the replacement strings, saying that the speed gains aren't enough to worry about putting them on. Are they just for adding some speed, or will they change how the bow shoots? I haven't been able to tell a difference yet in how it shoots, just looking for some second opinions on the subject. The bow in question is a PSE Source HD. Below is a picture of the weights in question:

I don't see that size on the list, but I had them for lt245/75 16's so it was the same tire width, just a larger circumference than the 15in tire.

The rifle range itself is 300 yards to the furthest dirt berm. As mentioned previously there are some steel plates up on the hillside well beyond the 300 yard mark, but I do not know the distances to them.

Another vote for Dick's speedo. My 03 did the same thing several years back. They re-soldered some connections on the cluster and has been good since. Turn around time was less than an hour.

Not sure if it's the right size for you, but there is a M101 trailer on the GSA auction website right now. Shows location in Prescott.

Thought I’d share this year’s Kaibab buck. I had this hunt two years ago, and felt very blessed to draw the tag again this year. Things started off kind of slow and I wasn’t seeing much in the way of big bucks. There were days that it was difficult to find even a small fork horn, and I was starting to get a little worried. Seeing deer after deer being hauled out in the back of pickups or hanging up in other camps didn’t help the confidence level either. I finally spotted this guy in the edge of some thick brush and dead trees about an hour before dark. I made a 70 yard broadside shot with a “new to me” 257 Wby mag. After the shot I only saw him take a couple of hops before he disappeared into the trees and brush. It took some time to find him by a very thin blood trail, and I was extremely fortunate to have some help to locate him. It was well after dark when we finally found him, and the feeling of relief that rushed over me was beyond words. I am absolutely thrilled with this buck! G&F aged him at 4.5 years old and measures 24in wide. This hunt reminded me that the Kaibab is truly a special place, and I can't wait to return. It was also a reminder to keep hunting even if you aren’t seeing what you want, because you never know what will turn up next. I have to give a huge thanks to Rick, Casey, and Jessica. Without all of your help, this wouldn’t have been possible. Good luck to all of those with the late tags… it ought to be a great year.
