How is the trout fishing this time of year at Parker Canyon? The stocking schedule shows it being stocked through the winter months, but I've never fished it before. Just looking for a trout spot until the northern lakes get going again.

Tools for off-roading / repairs - what do you carry
az41mag replied to n2horns's topic in The Campfire
Your list looks good. A few things I carry in addition to most of the stuff you listed is a small 12V air compressor for tires, jumper cables and/or rechargeable booster pack, and a small collection of wire crimp connectors for emergency electrical repairs. -
I've been trying to figure out an umbrella system for the exact same thing, but haven't found one I like yet. I appreciate the insight and will have to try one with a longer handle to go down in my pack. Thanks!

Well done! What's your setup for the umbrella in the first picture? (at least it looks like an umbrella)

For you guys with late season hunts, selling 2 sets of tire chains. Boxes are a little beat up but they're unused. Shipping would be cost prohibitive, so pick up only in Maricopa. Asking $40 $25 for all.

They're SPF to Zonalivn. WT hunter, you're second in line if it falls through. Thx

Bump for the guys with late hunts.

So I'm new to using muzzleloaders and was wondering how you guys carry the stuff to reload while in the field?( primers, powder, bullet, hand starter, etc.) I'm thinking of the scenario where a follow up shot might be needed, and you'd need to do it quickly. I'd want to have my stuff handy instead of fumbling around in my pack for something, but are there any sort of containers or small packs that keep it handy and accessible? Thanks in advance.
-
Thanks guys, there's some good information here. I especially like the idea of setting everything out before the first shot so it's ready.
-
Let's try $30 $25 for all the chains

Thanks for the replies. Good point about the material used, being quiet is important too since these will be used on archery hunts. I'll take a look at the ones mentioned here. AzDiamondHeat; what do you use for silicone?

Does anyone have recommendations for leg gaiters? Doesn't need to be snake proof per se, just looking for something to keep the pants dry going through grass that's wet from dew in the mornings.

Cool. Let us know how it goes.

Looks like Calico's are still biting fairly well looking at dock totals for the 1/2 day trips. Which boat did you book with?

Any suggestions on where to go for a half day trip in San Diego? Seaforth, H&M, or ?? I'll only be there for a couple days with not much free time besides a quick half day trip. I've been told not to expect much out of half day trips, but just curious if there's one that's any better than the others. Thanks in advance.
-
We will be trying that for sure. Thanks!

Cost wasn't bad for mine. It was $70 for the 1/2 day trip, $19 for a 1 day CA license, and something like $14 for a rental rod with some weights and hooks. The bait was provided on the boat so you can pretty much just show up and go fishing. The crew was also super helpful showing you how to bait up and what techniques to use. Not sure about the kid friendly part, but I'd imagine a trip that was less crowded would be better for someone new to fishing on these type boats. It's definitely a fun trip and kind of addicting... I'm already trying to figure out a plan to go back again 😊

So as a follow up question, what's the preferred way to cook these calico bass?
-
Turned out to be a fun trip, lots of calico bass caught and I came back with 5. Wish I could do these trips more often.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, I've been told the parking can sometimes be rough at h&m and point loma. Went ahead and booked with Seaforth for a PM trip.
