    My First Arizona Antelope

    Congrats on your first antelope!
  5. Thats all I have shot for ten years+. I shot them out of my 7MM and now I shoot them out of my 300 R.U.M. I have never lost or had to trail anything and have been pleased with their performance. They are very devestating. I just started shooting the accubond this year and they seem to shoot the same. They are supposed to be stronger and retain more weight. I don't know how much weight the regular ballistic tips retain because I never got to recover one, everthing I shot always had one little and one big hole in it! Thats ok with me though I want blood to leak out of both sides. Here is a picture of the bucks heart I shot in '05 it was completely severed and floating around in the chest cavity. I don't know why he didn't make it?

    Spent the Day out looking

The big bucks are always there. I used to think they were always somewhere else before the rut and after the rut, but the more I am out there, I have realized they don't move to much. Lliteraly they are lazy until the rut starts, and when the rut is over they are lazy again. If you find one this time of year most likely he will have a buddy or three. They may be a little bit nocturnal right now, but that being said two weekends ago we were out and didn't see agood buck till about 9:00am. We watched them for an hour or so and they were still feeding in the wide open, when we got tired of the heat and bugs and left. Patience is the key, I would say if you have seen decent bucks where you are hunting in the past keep hunting there if not then mabey find a new spot. My BEST advise would be DON'T over look the "easy" country, the big boy are't always at the end of the road and at top of the roughest mountian around! Good Luck!! What unit are you in?
  7. hunter4life--That is a vey cool lookin buck. His mom must have dropped him when he was a baby. I'd have to say I have no idea how big that one is. There is no spread count on antelope, it used to be if the spread was greater than horn lenghth it was a deduction (B&C) but I think they did away with that. If I were to guess I'd say around 83" give or take. I'd definately shoot him though! great find. BigDeal--The only shed I found while tryin was the one on the far left all the rest were pure dumb luck. I think they stink so bad when they are shed that the coyotes eat them pretty quick.
  8. Those are great pictures Amanda!! Southern Arizona is green too!!
  9. I think they shed. I come up 17" horns, 7" prongs, 20" mass, X2= 88" He could be a little bigger I don't know......I wish I had a tag I know that!
  10. Thats cool never seen three before......don't worry in four or five years you'll REALY want to take them home!
  11. Here is a couple more.......Where I first saw him he was in a pretty safe "secret" type spot, or whatever. I was hoping he would stay there and I was hoping to get the tag but that didn't happen..and he is not in a secret spot any more. I about crashed the truck when I saw him. He had that doe in the cornner of the fence and there were like ten other bucks he kept chasin off. I was pretty cool. He was only like 50 yards away withhis tounge hangin out. I think I could have killed him with a sling shot!
  12. NO TAG! FOR ME It wouldn't matter anyway. When I saw the buck at the begining of the summer I knew he was going to be a monster, and he was on state land but now he is on private property which I dont think anybody is allowed to hunt, or could hunt anyway. But he crosses back and forth so mabey somebody can get him. I'm going to try to keep tabs on him and possibly see if they would let me try to find his sheds? worth a shot I guess.
  13. I have no idea how big he is!! All I know is that we have one that is 84" and this one would dwarf him. He is one big butt speed goat that is all I know for sure!!
  14. Those are great pictures!!

    Strip Super Raffle Buck

So if you didn't say the meat was wasted what were you implying in your lat two sentences? Mabey I read to much into your post?

    Strip Super Raffle Buck

I agree with Michael on this one. Like he said this is AMERICA where the possiblities for individuals are limitless. The tags are sold at PUBLIC auction which means you or I have the opportunity to bid on them. (wheather we can afford it or not is another issue.) To pay that much $$ for a tag a guy would have to have a passion for hunting, and the aminal he pursuits, and to suggest that it was just a horn hunt and the meat went to waste is not right. In most cases these are tax right offs, they are considered a donation, so I ask the question "If you made enough money to afford one of these tags would you rather write a check to the IRS fo six figures oooor write a check to the RMEF, FNAWS, ADBSS ...etc. get to go hunting, and get some tax benifits, and at least know that your $$ has somewhat of a chance to work for something that you love..HUNTING?" Because if you write a check to the IRS its not going to give a dang about a waterhole project or a in the middle of nowhere Arizona. I know what I would do!

    BIG BUCK

Ireland? I was commenting on how green it is! I was over in 34A and it looks the same. I love it. I heard today that a buck grows about 1/4" per day and usually stop growing around the first or second week of september. So if that is true, that buck could add four or five inches on his beams and points plus mass he'll be a TOAD!! happy hunting!

    BIG BUCK

I didn't know they had coues deer in Ireland!! That buck looks like he is going to be a GOOD one! Good luck on you hunt!
  19. We went out this weekend to scout for elk and saw SIX coyotes. I managed to get this one slowed down long enough to take a picture with HER (whoohoo). Then another one is most likely no longer with us by now , and the rest of them got a dang good education. So then on our way home we decided to stop off and scout for my buddies antelope hunt and we glass up a badger. So we made a stalk and got about fourty yards and made an exploding badger video. My buddy made a great shot(s) Turns out this little gal busy diggin up prarie dogs. So we pack the little stinkin thing back to truck and started glassing for antelope again and my buddy looks back at where we killed his badger and wouldn't you know, her boy friend was in the very same hole she was!! My turn, so we took off made another stalk and we got about 200 yard and the little guy spotted us, it was gettin dark so I had to shot. Needless to say we made another exploding badger video! I think I have only seen three or four badgers my whole life and we killed two in one day, one hour more like it. Those things stink bad, they are half skunk or something, but man they were tasty!! And this little bastard tried to attack me last year while we were scoutin for deer. He wasn't very smart though he brough a mouth full of little teeth ot a gun fight!! What a freakin moron!

    Dang Varmits

We were just walking down the trail back to the truck and this little guy jump out from behind a rock like three feet away from me. Scared the you know what out of me, I tripped over a rock, screamed like girl, fell down, my dress went up over my eyes I couldn't see a dang thing, trying to get my gun out, floppin around on the ground, little thing was almost on top of me, so I jumped up fired a warning shot, he didn't even move so I shot him like two feet from the barrel........yup thats how happened!! I was sure hoping nobody saw that because they would have died laughing I know my buddy almost did. I dont know what was wrong with him but he was not even a little bit scared of us! Hey good luck on your bear hunt firstcoueswas80!!
