Mullin's Got it done in a big way!
JACK replied to matthewp45's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
370"-390" bull dont reach 400" because people kill them! How can the genetic gene pool suffer by the killing these "top end bulls"? They have most likely bred cows for several years before they have reached their "top end" If a bull has the genetic potential to be a 400+ bull and breeds a cow when he is a spike then he has already passed on his genes...the genes of a bull are the same regaurdless of how mature he is... -
This little fella was charging me then all of the sudden she just fell down...after the autopsy was preformed it was decided lead poisoning was the cause of her death...guess she won't be eating any fawns anytime soon!

Well, about 55 grains of .223 hollow point seemed to do the trick...

Not sure what hunts you are putting in for...but For example...if you put in for unit 10 early bull...there are 25 tags...more than 3800 people put in for that hunt...it would take 152 years to give each one of those applicants a tag...how could the G&F ever make that fair? I wouldn't mind having to sit out three to five years after drawing a tag...However...if someone had to sit out five years after drawing an elk tag...There were approximately 26,500 elk tags in the state so 26,500 x 5=132,500...132,500 people would be out of the draw You know how much $$ the G$F would be losing on licences, application, and intrest...they would never agree to such a thing! I am a 30 year native have been putting in every year since I was ten and over all I think the way it is set up is pretty fair...

Great topic! Started shooting a bow when I was ten or so...remember gettin drawn for javis in 42M...open morning got up... got camoed up...got my bow tied her on to the good ol bmx bike...my dad asked me where I was going "Pig huntin" I told him..."ok be careful" he said skeptically and off I went pedaling as fast as I could. Walked up a little hill and right into a herd of pigs...shot the closest one and it just dropped...rode home as fast as I could and told my dad I needed his help packin a pig out cause I couldn't carry it on my bike... ...he didnt belive me until I showed him my bloody arrow...Shot a few more pigs through the years and then in '03 I shot a rag horn 6x6 bull and I hadn't shot a bow since...until three weeks ago...when I broke down and bought a new X-Force...wow this thing is bad@ss. I have never killed a deer with a bow...come August 21st I hope to change all that! All I want is a 100" fuzzy horned coues

These are probably six of the best sentences you will ever read. This is one paragraph that should be in every book in every school room in every city in every state in the Union . Our educators should make a lesson plan based on these words and beat it into every head in every student in every class in every state and province in North America . And, every elected official should commit it to memory and repeat it out loud everyday. “The government can not legislate morality”. A deprived constituency will become deviant in their behavior, bored and eventually revolt. "You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."* Adrian Rogers, 1931

Leaving note deal would be pretty funny...but I was thinkin about one of your other experiences too... And to all the lion piss guys..... that don't work. I have pissed right out of my tree and had deer walk up and sniff it and go on like nothing new... Pee is pee but if they ain't skeert of my pee they ain't skeert of lion pee! I was wondering why they weren't skeert? ...does your shi...I mean piss not stink?...oorrrr...do you think they were attracted to say...hmmm...maybe...a barley and hopps odor? I mean come on man either way you have a great opportunity here!...you need to bottle that stuff up and get it on the market...as an attractant or a cover scent...

WOW! folks are getting pretty ballsie out there!...few years back a guy put up a road block using logs and yellow caution tape on a forest road and left a note saying he was on stand so the road was closed...YIKES Call him see what he has to say...just seems very arrogant and ignorant to me...think I would find some lion pee in a bottle and sprinkle it around HIS AREA a bit Knowing it is PUBLIC LAND there is no way in a million years would I ever tell someone they couldn't be there no matter how much work time or money I put into a spot...that is a chance you take when doing that

Interesting Bullet Expansion Test
JACK replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Its very interesting for sure...shot placement is obviously the most important factor...but I am on the fence on this subject I see both sides...the amimal absorbing all the energy from the bullet makes sense to me...but so does good penetration and two holes for blood to run out of...Ive shot ballistic tips for years then switched to accubonds for a few years and now im shooting the VLDs...and have been successful with all of them. I personally like breaking bones and such so I will always take the shoulder shot...loose some meat for sure but knock on wood havent lost an animal either... -
Sorry to say I had no pictures of you doing your sexy moves Ernesto...I would have posted them...The card had like 185 pics of cows on it and according to the time stamps the batteries only lasted like 36 hours...dunno what happened... TREESTANDMAN if I were you I would post the pictures...somebody that found your camera...then probably had to go back to cut it off the tree...had plenty of time to think about what he was doing...doubt he is bringin it back...it sucks we need more Ernestos do a little dancin and move on

How have I missed this thread for two years Great mounts everyone! Plunkett mounted these four for me. The one on the top left is a little bug-eyed but other than that I think the other three look great...Dan Lee has my antelope right now and I think his work awsome can't wait til its done. Dropped my girl friends javi off at Krugers not to long ago and was very impressed with his work as well.

Been tagging along hunting since I was five...got serious about glassin in '96 and didn't glass up my first lion until '04 since then I have glassed up 7 and been sitting next to someone who glassed one up 3 times...I shot at four of those and got to tag one of them...should of been two but a guy poked one I shot with his gun and it jumped up and ran off but thats a whole other story...they are sure fun to see! definately get me excited

Congrats on a great tag! Had the same one last year and you made the right choice going muzzy don't blame you one bit! I bought the Triumph for my hunt. Agree with everyone... each gun is diffrent and touchy...I about pulled my hair out trying to get mine to group...Tried Shockey pellets and powders pyrodex powder and pellets...tried various grains of shockwaves hornady barnes...and what ended up shooting the best for me were the silver coated 270grain powerbelts with 120 grains of pyrodex pellets...with a dirty barrel ...guess what I learned with mine was less was more...shot at the range at night a few times and with 150 grains of pellets it looked like i was shooting flares down range...meaning I wasnt burning all the powder so I slowed'er down a bit and my groups tightened up and got more consistent. Ended up being able to shoot 11/2" groups @ 100 and 4-5" groups @ 200 and as it turnned out I had to make a tough 30 yard shot...lol You have an awsome tag GOOD LUCK!
