That is one SWEET mount!!!!! Congrats
-
I checked a cam over the weekend that I had out. It wasn't in a very good looking spot or so I thought. Turns out I got some of the coolest pictures I have ever gotten. I have seen pictures of white eastern whitetail. Both bucks and does. I have also seen some pictures of white bighorn sheep and some elk. Also on here I have seen pictures of white mule deer does. However I don't ever recall seeing a white mule deer buck. Regardless it's super rare no matter gender. Anyways here he is. Hope you all enjoy. Appears to be a triplet as well !!!!!!!

Yes. Actually a good number animals get lighter colored even white swirl and line patterns in the velvet. Seen it in just about every antlered animal that exists.

I got pics of him in April and May.

I do this with the tape. Usually just use black electrical tape but this was all I could find for an example.

I have some of the stealthcam G30s and its hit or miss if they are sensitive or not. I just use electrical tape on all the sensors of all the cameras I have anymore. All the coverts are sensative that I have had. Electrical tape!!!! I have never bought a camera for over 100 though. Maybe they are better but I won't gamble on that much money in the woods. Nothing worse than leaving a camera for a couple months and checking it to find out it filled the card in two weeks 😡 Sometimes I wish they were never invented. Hahahahaha

I hate to do it but I am going to sell my backup set of big eyes. The are pretty much spotless. Lightly used. No dings in lenses. Rubber eye cups have been folded over for life of binos. Most everyone does that. Anyways Will let them go to a CWT member for $2500. Will post pictures later but wanted to see interest here before I post elsewhere. Let me know!!!

They will be fine for the quick transport. Issues arise when you leave mounts in the heat for long periods of time. I deliver mounts on the regular between Tucson and Phoenix in a big utility trailer on the regular and never have issues if it eases your mind.

I think it all depends on your preferences. Also as mentioned what you practice with. I read a really interesting article on how a guy did his setup for elk. He had one pin and I forget what his yardage bracket was something like 18 to 40 yards. The concept is based around your arrows trajectory. Your arrow obviously has an up and down path. Depending on your setup there is a long distance where the arrow only goes up say 5 inches and then back down 5 inches. basically well within the kill zone of a bull elk. Basically to get rid of clutter and avoid accidentally using the wrong pin he only had one for those yardages. He set it up weird where that pin was set low so all he had to do was put it basically in the armpit of the elk and would not worry about anything else IF it was in the designated distance bracket. To me it really made a lot of sense. In the heat of battle having something that is extremely easy makes sense. In all reality It's not like youre trying to shoot a quarter sized 12 ring. You're trying to hit an area the size of a plate (ON ELK). Now don't get me wrong the more accurate you can be the better. I know that when I shot my elk with my bow he was roughly 30 yards. I did not range it. I distinctly remember looking at all my pins and my 20 to 50 pins were all in the kill zone. There was no way I was going to miss. I remember thinking why do I have all these stacked in pins for elk when one would be very sufficient for anything from 0 to 45 yards. Not sure if any of that makes any sense but I really relate it to rifles. Say you have a gun that shoots 1 MOA at 100 yards (1" group). For most that is really good. That means at 500 yards you will be shooting 5 inch type groups. Well within the kill zone of any big game animals we have. And what most people are happy with. It boils down to what margin of error are you ok with. Let's be honest there are margins of error just in our abilities especially when you put a big elk in front of you @30 yards. IMO it's also why traditional shooters only shoot to a certain close range. That all important arc in the arrows path. Where is that the smallest. Out to 30 yards it might go up and down 5 inches. More than effective. Add a sight and you can go farther. But if your limiting the distance to where that arc path is well within kill zone parameter you possibly only need 1pin!!!!

Wyatt's Mag Box Question

I forgot which one I have but mine fits 3.92" COAL with some to spare. Mine single stacks. I shoot a 338 edge. I can only have two down. -
You NEED them!!!!! Lol
-
Its just a foam sleeping pad. I have covers out of the same for the ends also. I didn't cut it off as I figured the next owner might like it. Protects them in the pack.
-
Yes each eye piece has its own focus.
-
I have the hard carry case for them also.

What would you build, as the perfect coues cartridge ?
Becker replied to Splatt's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I just built my wife a 7mm Remmington SAUM. Thing is shooting the 162 AMAX's @ 3000 fps. I built it on the slightly heavy side but with a super short barrel and a folding stock. 33 inches total length when folded up 😱 You can pull the trigger and watch the bullet hit at 400 yards. I am pretty dang impressed. Just got it so we haven't tested it too much but I am kind of jealous. LOL -
Quality Lube and Tune. Ina and thornydale.

Accuracy is the key. Shoot what you like. Make sure your bullet is still able to perform with the velocity and KE at the ranges you are thinking. Like Casey mentioned. Build to the bullet and performance. I shoot a 338 edge. 300 grn sierras and bergers. 2800 FPS average. Little overkill but man it destroys those hybrids I'm always shooting 😜 Gun is a little heavy but I built it pretty light weight. I prefer a heavy gun anyway. -
As most of you know myself, family, and friends have had some tremendous success when it comes to Coues. I never could have imagined that I would be topping my personal best deer so soon. It still hasn't really sunk in but here he is!!!! 132 and 5/8 total gross inches!

I'm not scared of much in the woods ( rattle snakes is about it just because I don't want to get bit) .......but if they put griz out where I am fond of hunting and grew up hunting . No thank you! I know generally speaking it won't be a problem but I can almost bet money they put some grizzly bears in Arizona someone is going to end up getting killed. I'm all for species "preservation" and in some cases re-establishment but not when you are talking about killing machines.

Hahahahaha. Yup but I think it was 28 bucks.
-
That's only 90 cameras trphyhuntr. You would need a LOT more to get a picture of "EVERY" buck on the strip.
-
My experience with the strip. I was up there for 5 consecutive years in a row. I had some of the easiest hunts of my life as well as some of the hardest. There are very popular places that you won't be hunting by yourself. And there are definitely places you can get away from everyone. The strip is a vast place. There are springs and water sources that people don't have cameras on and there are others that are famous for the number of cameras set on them. You can make that hunt whatever you want. There are bucks that people have pictures of in places that make them almost un-kill able. There are deer that get killed that nobody knows about. There are high density deer areas and others that seem devoid of life. It really is a spectacular place to hunt. Rough and unforgiving. Im too much of a Coues deer junkie to apply up there but its truely a once in a lifetime hunt. If you like the giant deer potential and being challenged it really is that place.
