I built a small bracket to mount my digital camera in front of the binos. Then I put the camera on timer mode so that I can hit the button and then let it sit there perfectly still and take the pic a couple seconds later. That eliminates all that blurryness due to hand movement while trying to push down the button.

Camo clothing...........................................$50 Varmit Call................................................$10 Gas to go Varmit hunting with your Buddy....$35 Going hoof to fist with a pissed off Whitetail Doe..............................PRICELESS!!! Today Littlebear and I were out varmit calling. I am sure some of you know how sometimes does come into investigate. Well this doe was on a mission to stomp my butt into the ground. she got about three feet from me so I stood up to chase her off. Didn't phase her though. She flared her nostrils let out this loud grunt and came flyin at me. I braced myself ....and after the first contact pushed her off of me and she took off. I looked over at Littlebear and he was running towards me laughing. We couldn't beleive what had just happened. I think that was definately a CLOSE encounter!!!

Not sure what happened when I tried to post this topic the other day. My computer wouldn't let me into any of the discussion forums so I don't know how there are four topics on this without anything in there. Any way.......here you go......

why are digitals so expensive?
Becker replied to coues7's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I prefer digital as well. I have both but I always get dissappointed with the film. Thinking I might have that monster only to find out a rabbit jumped around for about an hour. I think my digital has already payed for itself in about 3 months. Check out building your own at hagshouse.com. With the good instructions you can make an awesome camera for around $300. -
My father and I only keep the best ones. Sell the rest to the antler buyers..... pays for some gas to get out there and find more.

check out hagshouse.com....you can build an awesome one for yourself.

How do i set up my game cam
Becker replied to creed_az_88's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Watch out for the Walmart Cameras. Some work great and others don't work at all. Heard to many stories from friends about the $50-$60 not taking pics, or messing up bad. I built my own camera for about the same cost and it works great. However I am switching to digital. Pays for itself pretty quick. (no film developing costs) -
How do i set up my game cam
Becker replied to creed_az_88's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I have had good success on trails to water. My father has placed his on many water situations and he gets a lot of birds setting off the camera and wasting film. However you probably give up some pics of animals coming to the water on other trails. I try to leave my camera on different trails to the same water source and have been successful in getting pictures of different deer using the same water but only on one trail. Anyway the best advise I think is to stick your camera out there and see what works the best. Becker -
News couldn't have been better. I got drawn for a Unit 33 December hunt. Since I was already attending college at the University of Arizona I devoted just about every weekend to scouting. Finally December rolled around and I got to take the 7 mag out of the closet. Though I am only 21 years old and have only shot 2 deer prior to this hunt, my mind was set on that 100 incher. It seemed as though day after day rolled by. With each one passing I kept kicking myself for passing a couple of 90 inchers thinking that I might not get another chance. Almost pulled the trigger on a real monster but surprisingly and to my dissapointment a coati troop came up the canyon and spooked the does, and of course the big buck followed. With only glimses though the brush and no clean shot the light faded and the big buck got away. Christmas rolled around and I decided to take a break. After Christmas my father came down to help me out. We got to tucson around 1 and headed out only to find some hunters parked in my spot with a big buck in their back pack. What a bummer. Anyway we went on and spotted a buck to far to chase that evening and decided to be back in the morning. The next morning we spotted a good buck across the canyon we were hunting. We snuck over to within 250 yards but upon the closer look we realized that he was only a two by three. With heavy antlers he was a hard one to pass but 100 inches was still in my head. The day passed with no other shooters. The next morning was a different story. After glassing until about 9:30 we decided to move and look over a good saddle. On the way there a doe walked out on this hill in front of us about 160 yards. Suddenly from behind me my dad says "SHOOT". Following the doe this buck walked out into the open. One look at the main beams and I fired. To my amazement it was a monster that grossed at 110 and nets about 106 and 3/16 unofficially.

RedBeard, I think we got started on the wrong foot. I know what a good spot is and how to keep that secret. My father and I have our secret spots as well. In fact I took Andy to the spot I had been scouting after a day hunting at his spot. Showed him some country he didn't know about. It was a fair trade off I far as I was concerned and I am not going to blab any spots out to anyone except myself and Andy. unit 33 is a big place. And When I started posting on this forum I didn't even know Andy was on here. My father stumbled across it and told me I should post my pic. So, thats how it happened. I was just urked and a little offended at your post, when you don't really know me. So I would like to start over on the good foot. Sound good to you? Becker

I give Andy props all the time. I have class with him every week. Never said that he wasn't a great hunter. Told him myself I would hunt with him anyday and thanked him personally for showing me his spot. Tell people about him all the time. Ask Josh Epperson if you want. Just happened one day I went in there there and that particular buck was there. I don't have to explain to you that knowing big deer are there and actually being able to harvest one are totally different matters....SO... for people who don't know what I personally say to friends, and what I talk to people about outside of posting a picture...whatever...think what you want.....I was just posting a picture of the buck that I shot.....wasn't bragging or anything until people started talking hoopla....figured you all would like to see it.....so if anyone doubts my hunting ability or is wanting to talk about giving credit come out with me for a day and you might have a changed perception. PS that is not the only deer I have shot either. I may be a newbie at posting but not at hunting. AND I don't beleive the draw affects bowhunters in 33, same number of tags every year. If I don't get drawn ohwell, I hope that the people that did have just as good of experience as I did. After all that is what hunting is about. NOT trashing people on forums who are just trying to post their pics like everyone else. Thanks for the great welcome!

Never said I was an expert. Just thought I would put up the offer. Besides I think all of littlebear's racks fit inside of mine. I think I might be a little ahead in that department lol

For everyone asking, I am not going to tell the spot. Unless someone wants to hire me as a guide. Maybe then I might think about it. lol Those cam pics are from a camera strapped to a tree overlooking a heck of a spot.
