Transporting out of state animals, repost
Becker replied to swwildlife's topic in Southwest Wildlife Taxidermy
From what I understand YES -
There is more to just opening up a taxidermy shop than some people realize. You have to have ALL the correct permits. Lots of places in the cities are zoned where you cannot run a business out of your home. Most legit taxidermists I know have an actual building where they conduct business. Proper research from you will usually weed out most of these problems. Legit guys like myself, Jim, Weller's, we all have taken the proper steps to be sure that these types of issues do not arise. Thusly our business's are seen here on this site as sponsors, advertising, on google, we all have websites. These are just small things but they really determine how serious we are about our profession. Don't become victim to a good deal from so and so down the road. It might work out for you most of the time, but it could come around and turn into a nightmare like 8OWHUNT247! Sorry to hear this. It does sound like the guy is an all around good guy in his effort to let you know. But I would be really hesitant to leave it with him/them, especially since someone else that you do not know is now in charge of it. I am not sure if you will get your deposit back, if you left one??? Unless you have some type of proof from him and you in place, like an invoice or receipt. But most likely if he doesn't readily offer up a refund you will have to take him to court to get it. Someone more in line with the law there might have more expertise in that department, but I would consider it a success if you at least get your trophy back!

Priced to sell $2300. Glass is clean. I have the hard case that they came in. They don't fit in there with my PRO self made case! HAHAHA I figured I would leave it on unless someone doesn't want it. I guess my pics don't have the end covers but keeps all dirt and grime off the lenses when carrying around. They have Jim White's adapter to attach your tripod plate to. The only thing that is wrong with them is that the little eyecups, which this happens to every pair of docters I have seen anyway, have fallen off. I don't glass with eyecups so it never bothered me. I still have the ends of them which you could slip back over and glue them on if you wanted. Anywho, awesome set of 30's. $2300 firm. No Trades PS the smudges are just a little duct tape residue from my PRO self made case!!! Comes right off.

I called right after I got a letter stating the new rules about importing wildlife and got transferred to some guy. This was before they went back on it, and I asked him some in depth questions about it. Then I asked him, because I had a customer going elk hunting in new mexico that was really wanting a european, how in depth the cleaning had to be. Basically if he boils it out at what point do you guys say its good enough. He said you cant bring the whole skull. Has to be skull caped and clean white bone!!! I asked him to read out loud to me what he was looking at and a little ways in he says, OH I guess you can bring skulls as long as they are clean! It drives me nuts that they cant all be on the same page about things. Call 5 different people and get 5 different answers. Especially on the new things that they try and impose that are pretty involved such as this.

AGFD news Warning to Arizona hunters and recreationists camping on the Coconino, Kaibab and Prescott National Forests
Becker replied to AGFD News's topic in News from Arizona Game and Fish Dept.
Like Elk hunter mentioned above. Many times I spike camp away from the trailer and come out to restock on supplies and get cleaned up again recoup for a day and head back in. -
A customer of mine surprised me with this buck he took today! I have seen some piebald traits in our Coues before but nothing quite like this!

Those look pretty nice!!! One tip is you or the neighbor should have boiled the skull caps clean. Looks like stuff sried and left there. If not sorry. They will be a magnet for bugs/beetles if he plans on keeping them in the house. They can then spread to other mounts in the house. Just a tip to keep things nice and tidy:)

I am using a luepold vxIII 8.5 to 25. I have always shot Luepold and have never had an issue. They have a killer guide discount if you have a license. Been thinking about looking into the nightforce scopes but havent had a chance yet.
