Thanks for the sarcasim jack$!@. reddog, I hope you find the wrong end of a cactus while searching for your 125" buck that is on the right side of the road by the tree, you are not looking close enough reddy! Some hunter.... I agree about a 320". It's a bummer a bull isn't considered big anymore if it's not pushing 400". All I can say is the guy said he has dreamed of a 370" bull, which is enormous, and I would like to do what I can to help him in his quest. heck, he may not be alive for another elk hunt and chances are if a 300" 6 point walks out this guy may shoot it. I just asked because this site seems to have some guys that go up to 9 and you can't hardly talk to anyone these days in any unit that hasn't seen a 370" bull. I'm just looking for some ideas, but since everyone got all upset about it, forget it. Sorry I exist, (Redcat, that should make you happy) and I'll be sure to never help any of you out in the future. Good luck out there, I hope you all learn how to mellow out and not take yourselves so seriously some day and if you don't, maybe you'll drop from heart attack and I'll buy drinks at the bar for all when I hear the news!

Seems like everybody got drawn this year. I hope the rumors of this being erronious isn't true for you all. I've heard there was a problem with the second test draw being shown as the actual draw and charging cc's. Odd since this hasn't happened before like this. Maybe they botched it and everyone was successful.....NOT. Rumors, rumors, rumors......................isn't it all so much fun.......Not again! Anyone going to the BH in Williams?

I'm not real into ballistics, but talking with a buddy and looking for some info. I'm wondering the drop at 400 yards and energy at 400 yards (way out there!). Can you help me find a place for this info or pass it along to me please? THANK YOU. Calibers: 240 Weatherby Mag 257 Weatherby Mag 243 270 270 WSM 7mm mag 25-06

Thanks for the info. I'll do a search and see if I can find something like "ballistics for dummies". That will be appopriate for me! Until then, how about if I make it simple. Amount of drop at 300 & 400 yards for 150 grain bullets from a 308 and 7mm mag. Thanks, good hunting!

Hi gang. I'm helping out a buddy in his search for a good cartridge/rifle for coues and mule deer hunting. His priorities are (in order): 1.) Light recoil 2.) Gun that can be shot enough to become very comfortable with it 3.) Light, easy to pack gun 4.) inexpensive Any educated input is greatly appreciated. I know there was a post not too long ago similar, but this guy needs a light recoil rifle for he and his wife and kid that can make up to a 400 yard kill on deer sized game. He was hoping for no more kick than his Remington (700ADL) 243 (at most he said) but maybe a little more effective. He wants to be able to shoot it alot but will still consider a Weatherby or WSM if it's the best choice, but then again recoil is his priority. He currently doesn't reload. Thanks everyone.

Can't comment on the 25-06, but the 243 in my opinion is a great choice for what you stated you wanted. Good luck.

Try the fall archery turkey and deer outside of town in units 5, 6 or 7 in August and you can call for coyotes with bow or rifle just east or west of town. Good luck.

I've been trying to find a good deer hunt in New Mexico and am considering 24 as a first or second choice. I would be looking for a mature deer. Anyone that's hunted the unit before have any opinions for a first timer in the unit? What are the deer sightings like and type of country? Thanks for the hewp.

I heard there was a website regarding the Arizona Big Game Super Raffle this year. Anyone know what it is or where tickets can be purchased?

Sometimes tagging out just doesn't seem to matter huh? Sounds like a fun, memorable hunt and that's what it's all about! A question, I'm guessing you digiscope and take your photos through your glasses. What camera do you use? Can't wait to hear about your hunt next December.

I can't stand hunting talk forums because of the crap that are always in them. I relunctently keep checking on this one and hope it stays as is, a great bunch of folks that just want to share hunting stuff. Stay away jelous, mouthy punks, visit all of the other sites where you belong.

Awesome! Congratulations and Happy Holidays.

Very nice bucks. I've really wanted to hunt the SC, but have never been there and have been afraid to commit to so much money for a hunt I know nothing about. I have heard it is awesome and I have heard it is as tough as general state hunt. Any opinions?

Consider the burn around Red Horse draw and Mudersbach tank. Russell tank area also hold good numbers of bulls.

Arizona laws regarding scouting with airplanes

Get the tail numbers next time if you can and call it in immediately. Even then G&F probably won't be able to catch them, but it's worth the try!! I'll be out on the Aubreys looking around this weekend (there's a biggen in there archery hunters)and will keep my eyes open, but this is a common sight in 10 anymore. I report it every year, time and time again. -
went down to 6A and saw lots of hunters, no bear sign!!
-
Just my 2 bits: Maybe try the country around Seligman, more specificlly north of Pica Camp just on top of the aubrey cliffs. I've seen large groups of cows there during the hunt before. There are several roads going to lots of country once you start going up into the aubreys. If you can scout a day or two before you shopuld do just fine. If you can't scout, look for sign and concentrate in the area. Good luck, hope you fill the tag!!!!

Has anyone used the Ultimate Steel broadheads? I'm looking for a 100gr. broadhead that flies like a filed tip. I appreciate any comments. thanks.

I'm looking for someone that mounts antlers to replica skulls. I see this offered in the taxidermist supply catalogs, but am having trouble finding someone that does it. Anyone know of someone or ever seen it done? Wondering how it looks. Thanks for the help.

Hello. I am wondering if anyone out there is interested in signing or helping circulate a petition against "Ranching for Wildlife" or any other proposals for landowner tags in Arizona. We need to voice out strongly to stop this! Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I know a guy that buys coues sheds if you pick any up and want a few extra bucks. Give me a PM and I'll get you in contact with him.

Petition against "Ranching for Wildlife"
Flash replied to Flash's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! The plan is to get as many signatures as possible and send it to the legislatures, govenor and the Arizona organizations such as RMEF, ADA, ABA, AES, etc. There was an article in the Farm Bureau magazine from a couple of the ranchers from central AZ and Jake Flake, an AZ legislature that is in charge of the committee that will be pushing this when it becomes a bill. Mr. Flake is also a private rancher. He claims in this article that he will not push it further if the AZ wildlife organizations don't support it, that's why they will be getting the petition as well. If you are serious about helping, I will have the petition at the Arizona Bowhunter Banquet March 5th. I can also email out a pdf that can be printed and passed around. It will include a cover sheet with what the petition front page has on it followed by a signature sheet. These can be sent back to me when you get the signatures. I can try to pay for the shipping back if that's a concern. Give me an email if you want a petition signature sent to you. I am very serious about this and already have a good start on it. I will be following through and sending this out once I've gotten as many signatures as I think I can get. I would greatly appreciate anyones help on this. I'm sticking my neck on the line and loosing friends because I feel this is the right thing to do. I hope everyone can find time to get a few signatures so we can stop this in it's tracks. Let's finally win one for the average guy!!! Give me your email address if interested in having the petition emailed to you. -
Southpaw, Congratulations on nearing your degree. I encourage you to seek out being a wildlife manager for AZ. We need more of them that truely love hunting and the wildlife out there! As far as guiding, you may need to volunteer some time to get in with a reputable service, but don't let a few of those "big name" guides in your area abuse you and your time for pennies because they will. You also want to avoid just hooking up with any guide service because there are more and more questionable guides surfacing. Give me an email if you want to talk more: buglemaz@aol.com
