  1. Last year I saw an add in a magazine from someone selling replica coues skulls. I think they were located in eastern AZ, but not sure. Anyone have any information by any chance? Thank you.
  2. My understanding of the question is what is the most popular caliber, not what do you think is the best. So to answer the question, in my hunting circles, the 300 mag is the most popular by far followed by a handful of the 7mm's (a few 7mm mags, a 7mm STW, couple 7mm ultra mag and a couple 7mm short mags). The other straglers use a 270SM, 280, 243 and a couple 2506's. All get it done for the guys that put the shot where it needs to be.
  3. Been doing a fair amount of calling and I always here about making money off hides, but I never know how to pursue it. I've given away a lot of dogs and a couple bobcats this year. Does anyone know a hide buyer in northern Arizona?

2 guns for sale ***all guns are sold***

Easymoney, Told the neighbor about your weatherby. He asked to offer you $300 for it, so I'm passing it along to you. Thanks.
  5. I use one on my big gmee rifle. The gun already shot well and this tightened the groups a bit. I don't think it hurts you to have it, but probably doesn't make a poor shooting rifle a great shooter.
  6. Was able to read most of it. Is there a website or contact number? I'm trying to find out what the cost is and how many people can be on a team. THX.

    Best electronic caller???

I've used a Johnny Stewart cassette caller for about 13 years now and have called a lot of stuff in and it's lasted all this time. Johnny Stewarts are alot cheaper than many of the others, so I think it's worth a look. I know the new ones play multiple sounds at one time which could be pretty helpful. The one I have has a speaker extension and you can place the sound a long way from your location, just like having a remote unit. Good luck.

    How far do bucks travel?

In my neck of the woods, mule deer bucks and bulls have specific areas where they are found depending on the season. They are never in their rutting grounds when it's time to shed hunt or start scouting in late summer. My question is how about coues deer. How far do they move and whats their habits? I find most of my bucks during the rut, will they be near by those areas in a few months? Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it.

    San Carlos vs Mexico

    So how do you go about "hunting on your own" in Mexico? I wouldn't know how to go about finding a ranch with tags that hasn't already had all the big guides who make a living looking at ranches. Seems like you need some connections to fuigure the whole thing out. I guess with a starting place, you could get the ball rolling. PS - never hunted either, but always dreaming of them both ;}
  10. I've been through New Mexico and its a maze of private land in a lot of the country I see antelope (I think its unit 11, near the AZ/NM border on the road to Dattle). I'm interested in a decent public land hunt and hoping for some advise. I would like a rifle tag, but would consider archery if it were a better hunt. Any ideas on a unit to apply for? I appreciate any advise on this one. Not sure where to start. THANKS.

    07 Coues Buck

NICE. Looks like you got him in some high country. Do you mind sharing the unit? Great job regardless!

    .270 vs. 7mm

It may come down to which one you shoot better, but I have used a 7mm mag for many years and highly recommend it. Peformance on any game is good!

    UFC's Matt Hughes

Matt Sera is out indefinitly with an injury and the UFC knows that it isn't good for business to have a title holder not fighting for a long period of time so they will have GSP and Hughes fight for the interm title and when Sera can fight again he will get the next shot for the undisputed champion. Same goes for the leightweight division in January with Penn and Stevenson.
  15. Heading out to help out a buddy for a few days of his upcoming hunt. Never been in 36c, any ideas where to start? Hoping to find a nice gassing spot. I hear there are lots of deer to be found but lots of private land. Hope we can stumble in to a few ;}Thanks.

    Bass Pro Shop

I hate that when you go in there they are always bugging you about a free vacation or credit card offer or some kind while shopping and don't leave you alone. Been to vegas and PHX and will not ever step foot in another. Cabelas is a bit better but for the bigger type store I'll go with Sporstmems Warehouse although their gun counter folks are very uniformed.

My Nov Elk in unit 9

Great job. I was up there over the opening weekend. The west side was smashed with folks so we ventured to the east side in a couple areas that usually have lots of hunters and managed to get away from most. Got 2 bulls, one behind Tusayan by the Park boundry(303 rd) and another hanging out in near Peterson Flat. Went to 7E after that and the bulls must of known where everyone was because it was fairly quit as well and the bulls seemed to be standing in line to the area we were hunting. Better year than most.
  18. Check out the 204, really flat and you can keep the target in the scope after the shot.

What caliber do you use and why?

Not the coolest gun in the world with all the new choices these days, but I use a 7mm mag. and it has always preformed well at close and long ranges. I do hear good things about the 25 WSSM for coues deer and the 7mm WSM. Good luck.

    Arizona record bull

I'm not sure if you are looking for the scorers sheet, but here's a link to the Typical and NT WR bulls: http://www.pope-young.org/WorldRecords/NT-....asp?id=RECORDS http://www.pope-young.org/WorldRecords/T-Y....asp?id=RECORDS Official score will have to wait for the drying period I believe.

    Best scope under $350

You'll get a lot of opinions on this one, but I really like the Bushnell Elite 3200 for that price range. I own 2 on my most used guns and like its performance and I really like how well Bushnell's customer service helps out. Easy warranty work if it becomes needed (I found out because of damage I did, not the product being faulty). I just ordered another one to replace another companies scope on my backup rifle. Good luck.

Does anyone us a 22-250 for Coues

I know a guy who lost a great buck with a 22-250. Shot placement is soooo critical when shooting those smaller calibers. He is a good shot and dropped it in its tracks, but it made its way back to its feet never to be seen again.
  24. Thank you, I gave it a try.
