It's not only about the quads, but with the new proposed rule, all roads are closed unless marked open. This will make access in units 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 difficult. Now is the time to submit your comments before a decision is made. There is a lot of opposition and that makes the District Ranger (who makes the decision) uncomfortable. Here's the website about it and be sure to call the DR at 635-5600 and tell her you want to be able to access the Forest, which is suppose to be public land! http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/kai/travelmanagement/index.shtml

Nice bow. I know of about 6 people shooting one right now. I do know that 2 of them had problems immediatly, but PSE had them replaced within 3 days, no questions asked. Both problems showed up right away. Seems like the X-Force Super Short is becoming more popular. A few friends have changed to them. Lost very little speed from the original X-Force and have a super smal, light bow. Look like a kids bow, but then you shoot it. The SS seems very forgiving. The X-Force line are not as smooth as a Mathews, but pretty close. If you are going to go that way, let me know and I'll give you the number to a dealer that has a good deal on them right now. Good luck with your choice.

Fire isn't always bad. In fact, usually isn't unless it is dramitic fire behavior like Rodeo and Dude. There are other parts of the state burning right now that fire managers are letting go and the wildlife are benefiting with fresh green grass already growing where that shot of precipitation hit last week and there are still logs and stumps burning next to the grass clumps.

The Browning A-bolt is a nice 22-250. I hear good things on Tikka and Weatherby Vanguards. I would like to persuade you to think a little bigger, maybe a 243 for coues. I know a 22-250 can do it, but my buddy lost a buck of a lifetime with a good shot with a 250. Dropped the deer and as he walked up to it he could see the bullet wound. He was proud of the shot and the buck got up, stumbled and ran away. he was in such amazement he didn't get another in him. We tracked for 2 days and didn't find that deer! The 22-250 is a bit light, especially when you need to reach out. Kinetic energy is pretty minimal. Ultimately, its up to you and what you want though. Don't let others make up your mind for you, but you may want to consider advice. Good luck with whatever you decide.

All needs a little fire, but the GC Park don't want it! Looks like its caught...maybe a fire use on the next one!

WAR7676, don't have any info for you, but let me know if you see any elk in there. That is the unit I have been applying for!
-
Love it and that is the exact gun I would get!
-
Know of 3 drawn, all in different units. It won't be easy! I hope they don't start taking away September tags to add them to the November tags like most of the December coues hunts are shifting!

I haven't personally used them, but have two friends who have. One likes them and killed a bull, but he did have a long, 1 1/2 day track job. The other guy lost a bull and eastern whitetail. Now I can't speak for the shot placement on any of these.

I'm interested for sure, but it would really help if I new where you were I will send you a pm soon. Thanks.

If anyone wants to comment on the Travel Management Rule on the Kaibab National Forest, here is a link: http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/kai/travelmanagement/documents.php I think we would all agree that there are too many new roads on that forest as well as others, but looks like maybe a little overboard. I love to walk in and hunt, but this rule puts me 7-8 miles out from where I normally start my 2-4 hunting hikes! Regardless, you chance to voice any opinion you may have.

Yep, not a pig at all but rather a relative to the hippo. At least according to the research I did many moons ago for a research paper. Weird!

Nice deer! Seems to be some genetics up there. Many years ago I took a couple bucks on the early hunt that looked very similar. Back tines were three inches a part on one (curved in like a coues). GOOD JOB.

You got to figure out what you want it for. If you want to make videos, consider the Canon XL2. They are kinda big but you can buy lenses for them and get great zoom without loss of quality. Smaller options are the GL2 or Sony VX2100. The Sony seemed to have a bit better low light quality in the few comparisions I got to see, but both are good choices. If you want to really commit to it, consider the high def cameras being made. More money, but I hear good things from the guides I know using them. Your last option if you arn't going to be trying to sell your videos is all the new handi style cams being made by Sony, Canon and Panasonic. Panisonic is pushing hard it has the cheapest HD cameras without loosing quality. I would doubt you get the same quality though from a $600 camera compared to the $2200 cameras, IMO. Last note, look for a 3ccd camera for best video quality. There are a few really compact ones out there these days that I have read decent reports about. Good luck and if all else fails, get a Canon ZR model or Sony handi-cam for $300 and see how much videoing you are really going to do, because best intentions sometimes falls short when you are already packing all your hunting gear around and then you arn't out huge bucks. Plus they are really small with 20x zoom. Good luck!

Nevermind, why bother when people reply who don't want to be invovled in the subject. We are all too passionite and consumed in the politics we find in hunting these days, Oh well. New post is......... How about HAVE A GOOD DAY TODAY.

Well, don't forget score isn't everything....sounds like an amazing deer and why take away from it with scoring crap, BUT I hear what you are saying! I think all of these organizations have questionable scoreres. The rules are there, but it is still a human making a decision on their interpretation of those rules. I know I had an official pope and young scorer score something for me. As I watched him, I saw what I thought were errors being done. I wasn't sure what to do and I kindly asked questions when I saw it and he got very short with me. I shut up and let him do his thing and got an offcial scoring sheet from him. I told him I did not want it entered in the books (partly because I felt it was inaccurate but mainly it wasn't my intention to) and he said ok. Later on I saw it in the books with a completely different score (over 15" less) than the "official" sheet he gave me a copy to. When I called him he said he had thought he missed measurered a few things and readjusted by memory. That was close to 10 years ago and it still gets my BP up and made a lasting impression on me with scoreres, regardless the club!

Just passing along to anyone who was planning a trip to the Kaibab National Forest this weekend that they implemented their road restrictions for wet weather. Only select roads will be open until conditions improve I guess.

Never heard back from the outfitter. Does he do this every few years or is this a rare occasion? I know someone that really wants to get the meat but can't hunt right now.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I know a couple guys shooting the bow that haven't experinced that. PSE claims its customer service is the best, so I would give them a call and see what they can come up with. I know both my buddies have had different problems with theres and each had to send in their bows, but got them fixed. Good luck.

Called a couple times and haven't heard back. Do we know dates? Thanks.
